Thank you so much. My hot tap on bath was getting stuck. Water coming out was very limited. Turn it on fully and no water comes out. Watch this video last night and attempted to fix it this afternoon. All good now. I’m getting the full turn in the tap now and got a good full flow of water coming through. Council told me my repair was not an emergency and booked me an appointment for over a week later. So grateful for this video, otherwise I could not have a bath or shower for another 8 days.

put the tap body in a carrier bag and remove the circlip. This will help stop it firing across the room and being lost.Be very careful not to stab your fingers with the screwdriver when removing it.

Brilliant Video Alan - Thanks! I had this exact problem without knowing what was causing it. Initially, I thought it was a washer problem. So I found a YT Vid on how to replace a washer. Still no water. Then I found another vid about how to strip a tap cartridge - so I did that but boy was it hard trying to reassemble.
Then I found you and straightaway I had the solution! I had to wind the tap head all the way down and then that old plumbers trick of a bit of detergent to ease the O ring when reassembling the cartridge. Whoosh! it went straight in! I put it all back together and loadsawater and the tap works like a dream. I was so pleased with myself I refurbed the other tap.
Thank God we have time served Old Boys like yourself who know all the tricks and are prepared to show us novices how to do it. Thanks again!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! We’ve been without hot water in the upstairs sink for about 10 days now…tried your airlock problem, didn’t work. I found this after suffering no hot water in my en-suite sink. Being a lazy so and so (my wife will tell you - quite rightly) and knowing I can use an alternative sink, I, of course, left it for months. This was just the ticket. I'm not bad with my hands/DIY, but never did any plumbing before. Thanks very much for making it so simple to follow. The only extra tip I would give, is to use a socket set, to get the body/value out of the tap unit itself (you had already loosened it somehow without telling us, you naughty boy). Works a treat now, and no new washer required (as per British Gas engineer has incorrectly advised.) Top marks.

Morning. Thank you for this video. Saved me god knows how much on a plumber coming out to me. Hot bath tap has progressively gotten worse over the course of the year, to the point that it was taking upwards of an hour to run a bath.
After freeing up the tap body, the lower part literally fell out, as you showed with about a quarter turn in your video, and was hard up against the internals of the main housing.
Willing the circlip off was the most taxing part (mainly not loosing it as you say).
Entire job completed with a 12" adjustable wrench, 6" adjustable, 1 tiny flathead screw driver, and a posi driver as you stated.
Tap has now gone from a trickle with a rather forceful half turn of the tap. To an torrential downpour after a half turn, with about 4 more full rotations possible.
    Again, THANK YOU !

Brilliant video!!! Thank you so much for explaining all this in detail so clearly!! Including pointing out where the nut will stiff to get off etc (after the tap handle part eventually comes away) - without that knowledge I would have given up half way through thinking I was doing it wrong, so thanks for the additional info you explained - that gave me the confidence to keep attempting to force it loose…) eventually it budged and the rest was all exactly as you explained!!!
With zero plumbing knowledge other than your video, and about 15mins later, my cold tap works better than it has for over 20 years!!! Half a turn of the turn of the tap and whole sink fills up in seconds - it had gotten so bad recently water was barely dribbling out and took about 5 mins to fill the basin!!!
Awesome video! I’m delighted with the end result, and without having to call out a plumber too! Yay!!
Thanks again for making this video! Saved me fortune and infinite frustration!! :):):) 🙌

Thanks for your good advice. I fitted a new bathroom in early 2013 and didn't think that a washer (on the bath cold tap - no water flow) could have gone faulty so quickly. Your advice on the anti-clockwise inner screw lengthening the piston was spot on - that was the problem, not the washer. Didn't see that anywhere else - thankfully I remembered noticing it here (it was your clip pinging off behind the radiator that made me remember). This is now bookmarked!

Really great video. The one detailing how to turn off the hot water was essential for us too. Can't thank you enough! 👍

I never thought I'd ever feel the need to comment on a plumbing related video, but this was indeed very helpful. Problem solved! Many thanks.

Excellent video - I was about to buy a replacement mixer tap, but I fixed it in under half an hour with your video - and didn't flood the kitchen in the process! Many thanks!

Thank you so much for your simple and straight forward tutorial. Tolereated no hot water coming through my bathroom sink tap for months but then the hot water bath tap did the same. Both taps now fixed and im feeling very smug and self satisfied. Thank you again. Very appreciated. x

Thanks so much for this video. I followed your instructions and everything was exactly as you described. Managed to not lose the circlip! Hardest bit was getting the unit out of the tap to in the first place because it was very tight.
All fixed in about 10 minutes. Fixed on a Sunday evening and no need to call a plumber. Bonus points with the wife!
    Thanks again.

Loved this vid! Have been scouring RUclips for similar tap problems and most of the ones available just don't float my boat at all. But yours is very much "cut to the chaff and get on with it DIY", which is exactly what I wanted. And as a consequence I fixed my tap in 20 minutes thanks to you (and the missus holding the cam?) Oh and my clip went flying across the room too, lol
    Thanks again. Top geezer x

Thank you Sir, your demo was invaluable. Just 'cured' two of my taps - both cold in this case. I wouldn't have known to where to have begun without your video. Cheers 👍
