ROAMS01E10 I Load Up My Jimny's Roofrack! DIY (2019)

  • With all that extra space given to me by my Eezi Awn K9 Rack. I decided to see what accessories I could install on the roof, so I decided a dual Jerry can holder, a shovel bracket, a tabel bracket and some storage for my recovery tracks, would be a fun DIY installation! All in preparation for leaving for the Jimny's first road trip.

    I'm so disappointed we aren't getting this in the US, this is really the only new vehicle I'd consider purchasing. Everyone here wants honking big full size trucks it seems, because you really need one to commute to work in and go to the grocery store you know.

      Yes, exactly! I've never purchased a new vehicle and I'd never felt the desire to, until I saw the new Jimny. "Wow," I said to myself, "I think I'm going to have to make that happen!" Then I found out...nope, not in the U.S. 8^/ Like you, I nonetheless keep torturing myself pointlessly watching every Jimny video I can find, LOL.

    The zook is looking very good. please let us know if you intend to fit a snorkel as i would be interested to see how you would do this on this model. In Australia we have extreme outback distances in remote areas to cover so a larger fuel tank would be a great idea. Do you think this would be practical or even possible? Thanks again for a proffessional vid.

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding  5 лет назад

      Im definitely going to put a snorkel on when its available. I really hope someone comes up with a way to increase the tank size... Its the only real downside of the Jimny at the moment unfortunately. Otherwise, travel with a friend who can carry an extra 40L for you :P

    I know this is an old video, but on a Jimny you would have to mount the Jerry can hold in the middle, the car is very light so heavy offroading is going to be uncomfortable with full Jerry cans on one side ofe the vehicle

    Nice build. Any idea what all the accessories weigh? I know the Jimny is light, will be interesting to see how the roof rack affects the handling, fuel consumption and wind noise.

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding  5 лет назад

      When I have the weight of the fuel up, I can definitely feel the weight but I think its more because of the vertical height of the fuel. However with just the roofrack, I dont notice it all. Obviously just a bit of wind noise at high speeds and then a very slight increase in fuel economy. I think the roofrack is 20KG's
