Was linked here from r/rabbitinc and with the super-clear points in your thorough review, I fully expected this to be a channel with a massive following. I've watched a bunch of review videos over the last couple decades and you definitely bring a great "what do potential purchasers want to know" approach to this review vs. "oooh, let me show you how clever and witty I am" (or some other contorted agenda). Subscribing.

Great review man! I've seen some of the reviews of the R1 that are out now and yours is by far the best one. You tested it in a natural way and how you didn't edit the time of response. a lot of people are cutting it without saying it in the video and it could be misleading. the funny thing is, I've seen some videos and shorts from Rabbit themselves and they actually keep the videos without cutting the response time, so the reviewers that cut it could be misleading people and then Rabbit might be blamed for it haha.
    Anyways, great review man!

I know everyone is skeptical and when making videos for mainstream its best to not "roll over" on the bad aspects. Things need to be fixed.
But I agree with what was said. I havent gotten mine yet, but watching Jesse and the team work has been both entertaining, and inspiring. I think the long term vision is great.
What gets me is what Jesse said in the unboxing video, this little team of 17 people really did release the best standalone AI device on the market right now, its the cheapest with no subscription. Its still early in this market, but the fact this little team did it and pulled in so much help from the rest of the industry thru partnerships - is really encouraging.

Great review! I appreciated your approach with your device and being grounded with your opinions. I had never considered that the marketing played well into our perception of the r1. HAP went all-out with Apple-influenced marketing stating it'll change lives, while rabbit really did lean on the toy aspect while being very transparent.

Great stuff! Some good and honest information (unlike that on certain other channels I could mention).
Question: Do you feel that this is a finished product, or should Rabbit have waited to release it?

    • @YonnyDigital
      @YonnyDigital  7 месяцев назад

Thanks! Good question, I think if they waited longer they probably could've addressed some of the bugs like the time zone issue.
I guess there would've been bugs even if they waited another week or month to release it. There's more pressure for them to release updates now that it's in people hands so maybe it's for the better?
I'm not sure because it's an entire new product category so the expectations and standards aren't there yet. Unlike a phone, we know what's acceptable or not to have at launch because it's been around for so long

Would be cool if they made it where you could just tap the sides of it? At least while in menu mode. I think they're making something where you can write your own scripts or something so maybe you could teach it to do more things later. More buttons would definitely be my my first UI scripts. At least to avoid the wheel sensitivity problem. Not sure if the sensor is sensitive enough or capable of even doing that tho.

I think the r1 will be obsolete before the bugs are out. As soon as iPhone and Android have more rounded solutions, the rabbit will be obsolete. This being the reason they have released so early. If they fix the bugs and you can train it I might get one, but the window for that is tight.

If you’re the type of person who thinks that standalone AI hardware with half baked software from these companies trying to capitalize on the hype are the “future” there’s a 100% chance you thought the NFT’s were the future as well. There are nothing these devices can do better than your smart phone already can do. Also, who in their right mind wants to carry an additional device which tells you either incorrect information or tells you straight up that the app you’re trying to use isn’t available on their pos OS? Like the only viable way it would service is if it was a wearable like a watch which could pair with your phone for data. Nobody is carrying an orange box with 1 hour of battery life and paying for a SIM card for zero battery extra benefits. As far as The Humane Pin, those MF’s are outta their god damn minds. I’m glad marques put them out of their misery. Both products are technically apps but the phone makers won’t give them access to user data so they’re forced to sell us these quirky and absolutely useless pieces of hardware.

    • @YonnyDigital
      @YonnyDigital  6 месяцев назад +1

      NFTs 🤣🤣
I agree with you though. In its current state this device isn’t going to replace your phone, if ever.
The title of the video “a glimpse into the future” wasn’t necessary just about the R1.
It’s more about the features this showcases that I feel will be implemented into phones and other tech once they catch momentum. A lot of features our phone can already do on their own of course.
I’m not sure if you saw the entire video, or at least the ending with my closing thoughts & opinions. If you didn’t that’s fine but, I mention that it feels more like a toy for tech people. To elaborate on that…
It’s a shame that their headline feature, teach mode, and a lot of the LAM functionalities don’t work well. But someone has to introduce these features or at least get people talking about it so then other companies can compete make their own versions and compete against it. And someone, the early adopters, has to do the testing on this very early technology.
This is kinda where I see the rabbit r1 right now. I think they’ll really have to evolve to keep up with smartphones.
One last thing to answer your comment about the form factor. I 100% agree a wearable companion like a rabbit watch would be better. I also don’t want to carry around an extra device & wouldn’t mind it as a watch. (As long as it’s not ugly asf)
Thats one of my talking points for the long term review.
Anyways, thanks for your input. You bring up valid points. Let’s see how everything plays out for them in the future

This is the best Rabbit R1 review by far as of today, 04/26/2024. Your detailed testing and showcasing of features is excellent. The pacing, editing, and video quality are excellent. You have music during transitions but the music is never too loud or distracting. Your "yonny digital" splash screen at the beginning is slick and only like a second long, which is great. The thumbnail for this video is clever and doesn't use stupid AI enhanced clickbait facial expressions.
I see that you have 810 subscribers as of right now. If you continue making videos of such high quality and reviews that are HONEST, showcasing the pros and cons as you've done here, your subscriber count will grow and grow. I have no doubt of that.
I'm curious, are you a one person team? Do you do all of the videography, video editing, sound mixing, etc. all by yourself?
    Regarding the R1:
I agree that the user should be able to control settings with their voice. The user should be able to operate the R1 with ONLY their voice, with the expectation of maybe entering passwords and sensitive information. "Turn brightness to 75%", "Open Settings", "Start Terminal Mode", "Open WiFi Settings", etc. etc. etc.
The image to spreadsheet functionality is very neat. I assume you can also just dictate a spreadsheet layout from scratch without the need to start with an example photo? For example, "Make me a spreadsheet template for me to track my debts. Columns headings are: Debt Type, Lender, Loan Type, Current Balance, Interest Rate, Monthly Payment. Make headings bold with a yellow background."?
It goes without saying that while all this stuff is nice, LAM functionality is the most important thing for most people. Give me that LAM!

Thanks so much for the feedback. I only have about a year of experience reviewing products & making videos on them so there's a lot more for me to learn and I haven't had the chance to cover hundreds of other tech products that I can use to compare to each other so I need to approach reviews from a different angle.
With that being said though, right now I have the luxury of not making money from RUclips or getting paid by sponsors. For example, I don't need to compromise the video quality or pacing with an ad break in the middle of a video. I'm not knocking anyone for doing this by the way, I understand people need to pay bills & it's a huge milestone to even get a sponsored segment; but there's no denying that, while necessary, as a viewer most of the time it's distracting & takes away from the video.
And yes, I am a one man team so I do everything from pre-production to post production. I have a background in filmmaking & I freelance for a living so I try to leverage that as one of my strengths when making these videos to make up for the lack of experience with products. But at the end of the day, people want to know what others' experience with products is before they make a purchasing decision. So as long as I keep it real & transparent there's no harm done.
Lol, long ass rant but regarding the R1 -
I tried asking it to create a spreadsheet based on the format of the spreadsheet I used in the video (the one I made using the sharpie, not the pen), & it wasn't able to do it. It can only add or edit to what it sees but not create from scratch.
      Give us more LAM rabbit!
