I once recorded a talking head segment straight from FireWire of a Sony to a PC with a FireWire card. I used Sony Vegas for capture and even recorded separate audio. That was nearly 20 years ago.
Looks like I'll be picking one up come tax season, for this old RCA CC 010 I picked up off of Ebay that I've been wanting to take into the wilds. Thanks for the video!
Enjoying your tapeless series. I cut my teeth on VHS/8mm/Mini DV tape cameras and so although we all know there are plenty of super cameras out there today, I still have a great affection for these older cameras. I enjoy an eyepiece over the monitor screen and of course the zoom capabilities of these cameras are always fun too. I think the picture quality of your old camera looks much better without the added VHS tape noise you would have gotten if you were playing back the tape (had you used a tape) so there's a plus right there. One small suggestion might be to make your own cords either out of junk or purchasing the hardware from an electronic parts supply. That way you don't have a lot of extra dangle. Keep up the fun work.
Thank you 😊 there is just something about these old cameras that are so fun. The glitches, the machanicalness of them, and just how every camera has its own look to its footage. And you can’t replicate the way the footage looks from these. That and I just really enjoy checking out all these different camcorders because some are just so weird and others are definitely ahead of their time.
Have a question, how can I to use the fire port of the camera with this monitor?. Or in that case should have I to convert it to sdi, s-video o somethig like that?. The idea is try to get the best quality from the camera. Thanks for the video
About how long does the internal batter last on the clearclick 3.0 because im having a hard time choosing between the 2 and the 3 for my tapeless gl2 setup.
@@brandoncameracollection Do you think its a bteter idea to get the 2.0 and get a portable battery that has a longer battery life than to buy the 3.0? I am attempting to use a hi8 camera at video shoots, concerts, etc so ill need it for an extended period of time.
I would say go with the 3.0 because you can still hook up a portable charger to it if it is low on battery. Or just keep a portable charger plugged in to keep it fully charged. If that makes sense

Many of them have the option to connect RCA cables and convert them. Even if, nowadays also there are boxes to convert many ports like Hdmi, Vga, sdi, etc, etc.
@@brandoncameracollection I just bought a canon DM Gl1 from eBay, do you have any experience with hat plus the clear click? My issue is if it doesn't clear the text on screen then I'll just use a tape and transfer it with my PC but if it straight records with a clear shot I'd order one in a heart beat.
@RezaEvol I haven’t used it as a tapeless method but if the screen display is on you should be able to turn it off with the remote if it came with the camera
Have you encounter the video flickering? I’m been having issues with my canon GL 1 replaced the S video cords but no luck. Can’t tell if it’s the camera or converter as I don’t have a 2nd camera. Thanks
Yes the only camera I have had the flicker happen with is this Panasonic pv-420 other than that I haven’t had an issue. So I’m actually not sure if the converter just doesn’t like certain camcorders or if it’s the camcorders as well. instagram.com/reel/CmajNMghy0s/
In my opinion if you want go tapeless yes definitely get the 3.0 but if you want to just be able to transfer footage from your tape the 2.0 works great. I personally like the 5 inch screen more on the 3.0 and that if I’m traveling with it and a camera I don’t have to bring a portable charger or a power supply since it has the internal battery.
@@brandoncameracollection Nice, the internal battery itself is a great sales pitch. Going out filming street skating it's one less set of wires to carry around for it.
I’m not sure. I’ve thought about that method myself but I haven’t tried it. If you get the cable from Amazon you can always return it if it doesn’t work
@@brandoncameracollection I'm sceptical about trying because I'd have to import the ClearClick from the US to Greece (where I live) which means a lot of tax and if it doesn't work then what? lol
I would recommend the Panasonic ag-456 it’s a super vhs camera so it will have much better image quality. Just make sure it comes with a charger. You can still find new batteries but no chargers are being made for full vhs cameras
would you say there’s reason to buy the 3.0 over the 2.0? (For context I have neither and am a first time buyer) is it worth it to cough up the extra 30-50 for the 3.0?
Well they both have the same video quality but the 3.0 has a 5 inch screen and an internal battery. So if you plan to use it to go tapeless I recommend the 3.0 but if you want to use it to just capture your footage the 2.0 will work just fine.
Hey speaking of s video cables, I did end up trying out the s video cable on the clearclick 2.0 like you recommend in your comment on my tapeless gl2 video. Believe it or not the s video made for worse quality than the aux cables. Which genuinely surprised me!
The little box that plugs into the back comes with the camera so if you don’t have one you can use the av out ports on the charger while the camera is plugged into the power supply
