Couldn't have predicted when I requested Hot Snakes to remember a dead hero that the episode would start with a discussion about the death of another. The world is a worse place without them living in it. Still, seeing this upload really made my day. Glad to see good music being discussed and legacies celebrated. Rick and Steve created some of the most solid catalogues of music during their lifetimes and did so much more great work in the field of art and just life in general. Too bad that the universe couldn't lop off a few decades of life from some racists / homophobes / any other examples of hateful scum instead of taking away people who do shit that really matters. Thanks again guys, you enrich my life just like they do.
Steve Albini's death hit me like a ton of bricks. I actually went to school in Chicago to be an audio engineer, mostly because I was so influenced by Albini. I also have a stepdad the same age as Albini who has a long history of heart problems, so now I'm worried for him as well. I've never heard of Hot Snakes, but the samples you guys played sounded pretty good and I'm adding them to my "To Listen" queue.
mike, I had the exact same reaction to getting the news about albini. it felt like a real life nightmare and felt completely wrong and not real, in a way that I’ve never really experienced anything like before. it’s really good to hear someone else talk about it
interesting Comparison to Chaos Z, never thought about that. But im even more surprised, that theyre known outside of Germany. Anyway, its always a joy to listen to your thoughts and enthusiasm. Although im very familiar with Hot Snakes, its interesting how other people think about your favorite music.
No never mind I'm changing that. I went back and listened to the entire discography again. Best personal favorite flat-out fucking rules 100%: Audit in progress. Suicide invoice just barely edges ahead of automatic midnight for me. Automatic midnight drops off so hard after the first three songs and struggles to get my attention back. Jericho sirens is really fucking good but at the core it is just hot snakes by the numbers. Very good but not essential. 100% fan service but I'm okay with that. Original post: Best: automatic midnight Personal fav: audit in progress Least, only because I haven't spent decades listening to it: Jericho sirens. I cannot objectively give any album worst as nothing is bad here.

Thank you, man. Very well said. You're doing great work yourself musically. This is the time to keep moving and keep creating. 💪

Solidarity, dude. Do you still engineer?

Ahh man! We were in complete agreement at first! But to each their own, I like how flexible this discography is.
Hey you guys ready for the Blood Brothers reunion!?
