Thanks for the Vid - like you I have come from Affinity which I like but which takes a lot to master it properly ....... I've spent hours looking at tutorials. This morning I bought ON1 2023 and as it's not released till Oct they kindly gave me 2022.5 in the meantime - I'm blown away at how logical, intuitive and fast it is. It even has a decent library function and so many bundled presets and filters. It's good value and you don't get sucked into a subscription plan if you don't want to. Thanks again.
ON1 is a compelling integrated package to develop, manage and share shots. Changed 5 years from Adobe, since then I have been using the software and the ON1 drives innovation to simplify developments ahead. No way to go back.
I like Lightroom a lot, but as an amature photographer with a busy day job I don't want to be paying €12/month for a piece of software that I only use occasionally. ON1 looks like a good alternative. Thank you for the video
@@remco2777 On1 still has an outright purchase option though, so you can avoid the subscription. I'm still on Lr 6 since I refuse to "rent" an application I only use occasionally; if I found out tomorrow that I wanted/needed to upgrade I'd switch to On1 Photo RAW based on reviews, features and being able to buy a permanent license.
The best thing about On1 is that they are ALWAYS improving, adding features, optimizing speed, in every way. No limits as you continue using it year after year.
I haven’t edited a photo on PC for years and only use the iPad. For that LR does offer the most complete and versatile option at the moment I think. Although I’m impressed by On1 I need a complete program to work on the iPad before I would switch
I do hope that they start fleshing out the app more. It's a great start and closest any other program comes to LR's app, but it still has a ways to go to properly compete with it.
Are you still using On1? I'm trying to choose an Lr/Ps equivalent. I've used them for years & nothing else.. Like so many others, it's the new T&C that's got me looking Thanks in advance!
Thanks for this video! Since Adobe only support cloud now and I heard from may or something, use AI to go through your cloud for machine learning, I do not want to support them. To bad. I likes the way all programs integrated so you didn’t need to export media before moving between programs.
Thanks for the good info. I have been looking for alternative to Lightroom (Classic) and On1 seems to be a good option at the moment... Photo location at the 2:07 looks very familiar, especially to me who has passed that point countless times starring to that speed camera box "will it flash"... ;)
I've been looking for a replacement for Photoshop. Can On1 Photo do everything Photoshop can? I'm confused. I can't find much information and the forums are locked unless you buy it
Thanks, great video. On1 seems like a nice alternative for Lightroom. However, to me Lightroom made a big leap forward with masks and AI features this year and has the modern UI (not LrC) and has a version for iPad and iPhone with almost all desktop functions included. The Lr monthly subscription is $12 with 1Tb cloud storage.. Maybe the stand alone desktop On1 could be an addition for the features like ‘no noise sharpening’ I will try it out!
How did people get around the annoying limitation when it comes to 'importing' a large Catalogue from Lightroom. I have about 20,000 photos, in folders, with metadata etc, and saw no indication that the LR plugin wouldn't work when transferring to ON1. However, after 36 hours of my Mac's fans going crazy, CPU showing over 1000% (I know it's impossible) etc, I contacted Support to be told that I'd have to work through the Catalogue folder by folder, and that would take weeks! My Mac's an i9 with 64GB of RAM and runs everything else fine. ON1 looks good, but it's not very helpful if I can't get it to manage my Catalogue. Any ideas?
Really random, but does your 20% off code work in like a month or is that limited. I am considering buying that software but would first try it out to see if it really fits me. Wanna really test out the programm. But i will fly for holidays soon. So i will mostyl buy it, if i like it, in a month. Is the code time limited? :)
The paid-for stuff mostly sit around the same price point. For free software, you can check out rawtherapee or darktable. I myself didn't like them when I tested them but that doesn't mean it couldn't work for you.
I love On1 currently using version 22 but the performance sucks badly. Each photo takes 5-15 seconds to load and that's critical when editing 100+ photos
Still not a free option. Photoscape X is by far the easiest user freindly FREE RAW editor I've ever used. The GUI is super straight forward and it works GREAT on Windows 11.
I just tested it and it works for normal priced items (including subscriptions), not ones that are already on sale. Which is most of the store at the moment it seems :)
Now that Lightroom has content aware your video is no longer of much relevance. We all hate Adobe and I've been an On1 user for more than a decade - since release 2.0 of the software - but content aware and new tools in Lightroom are an On1 killer unless it has the same functionality. The current On1 object replacement/stamp tools just doesn't cut it anymore and is now old outdated technology.
Please consider another background next time. We see your face in the center of three black elements in the background that form a cross, framing your head, and the black T-shirt completes the figure of a saint. Not sure if I'm the only one seeing this. It's funny, but it detracts from the interesting content of the video, because the question of whether ON1 RAW is a viable replacement for Adobe Lightroom is currently more interesting than ever.
Please! This company should be ashamed of themselves for offering a FIX as a new pay for version! The last version is severely flawed and useless due to its absurd slow function. That should have been FIXED vs trying to screw their customers for 160.00!!! I’ll stick with the king on the block PS to avoid this greed! Pass on ON1
I mean, saying that releasing a new version that has a bunch of features being only a fix is one thing. Blaiming that company of being greedy and then turning to proclaim how Adobe, the company with one of the most aggressive and predatory monetisation models out there, is better. That's on another level. But, we all like what we like, so I'm happy that you enjoy using Adobes stuff and wish you the very best.
Reminder! If you're interested in On1 you can use code 'LOWFIGH' for 20% off of ANY purchase on the site.
Link is in the description!
Been using On1 for 4 years. 2024 is a great update! Cheers!
