Yakima hasn't any lock to the bar, is it safe?
Totally safe. If you are looking for some locking security a traditional bike locking cable will work great.
None of the cross-bars lock because seats usually have a quick-release anyways. So even if they locked they could slip right off in a few seconds.
None of them have locks for security because you can just take the seat off to defeat that. More concerning is the lack of being able to lock the extension length
