As a Stockport county fan who’s been there through it all...I can safely say we are on our way back, a league title, a takeover and no more debts, my club will rise again!!
How is it stalled when they've bounced back to Conference North in 5 seasons?you surely didn't think you would walk it back to the League now would you?
and RISE we have. Mark Stott and everyone at County have worked miracles over the last few seasons. I'd enjoyed seeing you produce a follow-up to this video in a few years when we are back in the Championship.
As a massive Stockport fan it was so sad to watch my club go down like this through administration considering we had done well in League One. It went from bad to worse with terrible owners who didn't know how to run a football club. Now we are on our way back, hopefully with the National League North trophy being the first bit of silverware in many years.
@@Oakster_ there is always PES besides there shit gameplay and if you guys didn't know you can actually download the real team jerseys and badges to a USB and use it on your PS4/XB1 or PC
I was playing FM and just started a a new game and was offered to start as manager for the club for which I knew nothing of and I pulled up the history page and seen they were a Champion League tier club that somehow fell to Amateur Regional North status within a decade. I was so curious WTF happened that such a rapid decline could take place in such a short span of time, thanks for the information to why the club flat lined.
can I ask you to make a video of the latest club that City football group bought? and why they want a 3rd tier Chinese club instead of investing in the one that already in the 1st tier?
I'd love a video on Plymouth Argyle! 2 titles in 3 seasons in the early 2000s, close-ish to getting promoted to the Premier League (Plymouth being the largest English city to have never been in the top flight). Mis-managed off the pitch and pinning financial hopes on England winning the 2018 World Cup bid meant relegation, administration and clinging on by the skin of their teeth to the football league. Now slowly climbing the leagues again and a new grandstand on the way (promised in the early 2000s heyday).
It would be cool to see you guys do a video like this about Brighton and Hove Albion. We've had a very interesting history in the last 30 or 40 years, to say the least. From nearly beating Man United in the FA Cup final in '83. to the mid-late 90's when we lost our home ground, nearly got relegated from the football league and almost went out of business, Our fans used the early internet to spread word of our plight and to organize a 'Fans United Day' where fans from all across the world turned up to fill our stadium for a match (tons of Palace fans (our rivals) also turned up to support us too) Being exiled to Gillingham for 2 years Returning home to Brighton to play (for 10 years) in a converted athletics stadium (the Withdean) that was, frankly, barely fit to host even non-league games, The long drawn out battle we had with the government to greenlight Falmer stadium and the friendly 'harassment' campaign we launched against John Prescott (where we were REALLY REALLY nice to him to get him to say yes lol) To where we are now in the Tony Bloom era. Premier League football, a stunning brand new 30,000 seat stadium, training facilities that (apparently) rival Man City's, and spending tens of millions of pounds on players, all while keeping that strong bond with the fans and the community alive.... It's been a hell of a ride and a massive transformation. Over the years the club have pretty much adopted one of (Brighton fan) Fatboy Slims lyrics - "We've come a long, long way together" It's very apt. Fatboy Slim also played a big hand in keeping the club alive during the rough Withdean years, sponsoring us through his record label (yes, we literally had Skint written on our shirts when we were literally skint lol) Hell, one of our fans once won a Coca-Cola competition to win £250,000 for your club to sign a player with, and at the time it was huge amount of money for us! (we bought Colin Kazim-Richards (The Coca-Cola Kid) with the money. Didn't go well lol) All that is just scratching the surface though lol. There is so much more to all these stories. I reckon you'd enjoy piecing it all together!
you making this vid about my club nearly brought a tear to my eye. we're a massive club with one of the best fanbases in the country but been constantly fucked over by shite owners. we'll be back and better than ever with the help of gannon
Great video, hopefully Stockport can at least get back to the National League soon. It's another sad tale of a lower league team ruined by ownership who were a combination of incompetent and corrupt, the most egregious I can think of in English football was Chester City but there have been plenty of others.
I like these type of videos. I'd like to see one on Coventry City (they're in dire trouble)! Also, remember when the hand used to get in the way when they did the tactics videos as uMAXit?
I think you should make a video about the "Maracanazo", Uruguay´s surprising World Cup triumph in 1950, against local favourites, Brazil. Also, at that time the finals was a group stage, but the final game Brazil-Uruguay decided the group (and the champion) so it was kind of a final. It is one of the most emotional moments in south american sports, and I think with your storytelling, it would be brilliant!
Always had a soft spot for Stockport County, always said if I was ever to move to the Manchester area that Stockport would be the team that I would go and watch.
I hope they do get back Funny enough their cup run to the second round proper could have been cut short. In the preliminary rounds, they faced South Shields who are a league below them and went 1-0 down, but 2 late goals turned round the tie and County went through. As much as I am a South Shields fan, it's amazing how great stories can be influenced one great moment
Living next door to 2 of the wealthiest, most self indulgent football clubs in the world has never helped either. County (blessed be their name) have like most of the "bread &butter" clubs suffered from the Prem syndrome. That is inflicting imported players of dubious quality (Pogba & the like) upon the long suffering & sadly more pliant by generation fans. These players have leached both the cash & opportunities from local talent. There are far better players playing Sunday League football in that Manchester than turn out most days for both their clubs. When this cash based, short sighted approach finally ends, we may, just may see another George Best. Despite all of which, County WILL rise again.
champions of league two now league one next season owner has big plans to get them into the championship within the not so distant future.. can they achieve it? do they want to be a championship club.. ? clubs in championship spend a load of money chasing the dream of getting to prem league.. is being a mid-table/relegation battling side in the championship better than the 3 league title wins county have had over the past few years..
Thank you so much for the video - loved the hatters my whole life and was gutted to see the decline of the club, especially after seeing them at Wembley only a few years previous

Check out my Stockport videos. They may soothe you and bring back your memories
well hello!
Funny I just came back to this video after 5 years and here we are, about to play each other again in a month's time.
The death of Hereford United and the rise and stall of the phoenix club would be interesting.
Jack James up the Hereford

Money Laundering
Its cheaper man city will loan a lot of players and get them in the first tier like with girona they buy small clubs and make them bigger
MeazurAli It’s the 2nd tier of Chinese football I think
Cheaper to run and much less strict laws about player recruitment
What a great story, thank you Tifo for this interesting video. I love underdog stories like this, I wish all the best for Stockport!!
Patfan91 Thanks mate
Doesn’t seem that long ago that Stockport nearly got into the championship playoffs! Always a bogey side for my team Birmingham

@randomm User1237589 I'm a City fan from Stockport lol
I remember steve bruce blaming the length of the grass on the pitch a couple of times back in 96/97 season
Often Partisan remember going to a game in 2000-2001, county winning 2-0. Think you were near the top of the league at the time.
Was it either a single point or goal difference that kept County from the playoffs that year?
