I am astounded by the depth of harmonies in an acapella arrangement, Thank You David, and thank you choir and signers. HE IS RISEN INDEED! See you soon!
David, thank you for this new tune (not new) and arrangement. When you sing a song by the same tune and arrangement for so many years, you may find yourself singing by rote, by habit. This caused me to consider the words more carefully than I might normally have.
Thank you David Wesley for this Amazing arrangement of "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross", and for all you hard work and dedication in creating, organizing and putting together this Virtual Choir! May the Lord greatly and abundantly bless you! 🙏🏻
Great!! ❤ Thank you Jesus for this young man David sharing these videos! Anyone wanting a shorter video than yours may not enjoy Heaven because they’ll be even longer!!
Glory to the Lamb of God. Prepare ye the way of the Lord. Looking forward to meeting you brother David singing at the feet of Jesus. What a day that will be.
Apparently it’s more common in certain countries - like Australia. My brother’s former church in Toronto used it as well. The church I attended this morning did it too!
This is an amazing piece of work! I can imagine how much effort it takes to align all the tracks such that the consonants are crisp and start / end at the same time! Once again, thank you, David, for all your hard work. It is always a privilege to sing in your choir 😊 May God use the message of this song to speak to many :)
There are so many layers in this, I'm astonished! It's like watching someone go from playing a piano with one finger to using 10 fingers in about a few months. I think David Wesley is moving into a level of composition that is a classic of it's own! I hope that these are noted and honored by all countries from which all these beautiful voices originate. Thank you for a beautiful Good Friday gift to us all.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful song on Good Friday, good sir. As you said in your comments at the end of the video, we have forgiveness of our sins only b/c of our faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Thank you again, my brother, for your faithfulness in using your gifts for King Jesus 🙂🙏🏼
Thanks for such a vibrant, challenging and beautiful presentation of this great old hymn by Isaac Watts. David you have indeed done a splendid job as usual. Loved the people involved and particularly those who signed so the deaf and hard of hearing could have access to the lyrics of this great song. God bless you all. Lyn Lockrey, Australia.
This is the tune I learned when I first learned this hymn. It's such an old lovely tune - it's always been my understanding that the other tune is newer. Nevertheless, they are both beautiful and serve to lift our hearts and minds up to the awe-inspiring splendor that is the cross. Thanks for you work and thank you to all the lovely singers!
Beautiful truth of Christ sacrifice for us, such Love! Thank you for a harmonious blessing. I appreciate you including sign language in your performances. I have several deaf friends and I was an interpreter for years. God bless you and all involved. ❤❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all the work that goes into each of these virtual choir pieces! We are always incredibly blessed with each one! Passover Blessings to you and your family! 🙌💚🙌
Im not the biggest fan of changes to the originals, but when the lyrics got to the part of "see from his head, his hands his feet...the vivid imagery of the sign language is heartbreaking because we get the visual of what he actually went through and the man doing it was very emphatic which added all the more emotion to it. It's hard to see when we get visuals depicting what Jesus actually went through. We tend to sing these lyrics, knowing what they mean, but it can become rote. Added visuals require us to visualize the actual pain and suffering and it is hard to think about the fact that it was all because of me. I put him there. It should have been me. "But thanks be to God..." He is risen!
Your statement is make the difference toward to Hearing People who think sign language music have no meaning. You are showing people sign language is God's Design of lack visual from music that create sound. It is his purpose to combine sign language and Music turn into visual music like 3D Music
Wonderful work, David! This was a great arrangement and editing job! Great job to all the people who participated! I am glad that I could have participated as well. 🙂
Great arrangement! Perfect song for today. The editing was creative & a labor of love. May our Lord bless your efforts & all the people involved. The ending was unique. Have a wonderful Easter!!
So beautiful and so much truth and depth in the lyrics. Happy Easter and hopefully this will remind you of this love that's so amazing and so divine that demands our soul, our life and our all. ❤
Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful blessing as usual. Thank God for you David, you are a gift of God to us. I pray God keeps you focused and pray for your beautiful family and the choir members from around the world. God bless you brother.
One of my favorite hymns of all-time! I know that version well and love both this and the original one. You have done an incredible job putting all these lovely voices together to praise Jesus! I can envision the heavenly choir when hearing this! Well done, David!
Well, the one I meant is the Hamburg one taken from a Gregorian chant (from what some sources say.). The other one seems to be much more modern, if 50+ years is modern! Obviously you are the expert… I’m just a lowly little piano player from way back! 😀. Again thanks for your beautiful music!
I’m not claiming expertise by any means. I just had to do 5 minutes of research when choosing a song for the project. Both Rockingham nor O Waly Waly are also hundreds of years old.
Extraordinary! I never heard this version before, but after hearing this - I now prefer it! It’s amazing to read Isaac Watt’s history of this song and Charles Wesley’s incredible words about it! ❤
@@DavidWesley I should have clarified… Charles Wesley reportedly said of this hymn that he would give up all of the hymns he ever wrote just to have been the author of When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. I read it somewhere recently. That’s what I was referring to. Sorry for the confusion.
🙏Thank you! This tune is a favourite. This arrangement is now a new favourite. God bless.
Wonderful arrangement 🎼🎼 thank you so much ❤
I am astounded by the depth of harmonies in an acapella arrangement, Thank You David, and thank you choir and signers. HE IS RISEN INDEED! See you soon!
Soon we finna be praising the King of love in white raiment above.
Finna? You mean “we are going to”?
Okay, I've listened to this so many times, and You Tube only allows one thumb up. So here we go: 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤
Love the lyrics and this melody. I’ve heard it before and actually prefer this arrangement. Thank you!

A clear example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts! PTL!
Beautiful rendition of a timeless hymn! Love it! ❤

Absolutely awesome !! What blessing 🌟🌟🌟
This was a beautiful arrangement! Thank you for your hard work and the efforts of all involved, God bless you all!
I've never heard these lyrics sung to this traditional melody before. Lovely.
Apparently it’s more common in certain countries - like Australia. My brother’s former church in Toronto used it as well. The church I attended this morning did it too!
Beautiful song and beautiful voices!
Have heard this version before, and the choir sounds awesome. Not sure why I have seen comments hating on this.

Thanks David and choir. This will be a good day
I needed this blessing today. Thank you!
I ❤ your rendition of this classic hymn. Old hymns become new like us when we accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour.
Beautiful work. Glory be to God
What a gift-to our Savior and to world-to be able to share this with others! Thank you, David! Blessings to you and your family!

That last name is so familiar. Do you have family in south-western Ontario?

It’s not a change to the original - just an alternate tune that is quite common in different parts of the world. :)

Love it! I enjoy putting lyrics of one song to the melody of another. Keeps things interesting!!
This tune has been used with When I Survey for a long long time. :)
Good arrangement. 😊

Another really excellent arrangement - I love hearing the interplay between the different parts.

What do you mean by “original”? Isaac Watts wrote the lyrics decades before the writers of the Hamburg and Rockingham tunes were born. :)

Congrats, that was wonderful and perfect for waking up on this Good Friday morning ☀️✝️ God bless you
Well done! Perfect timing to focus on the cross. It moved me. Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers!
Lovely seamless arrangement. Thank you David 😊🙏
So beautiful! What a wonderful way to praise God. I wish I had the confidence to sing with a choir. ❤
You can do it! It’s easier than singing a solo.
Sheilagh-David makes it fairly simple. With such a beautiful name and heart, I would encourage you to jump in and give it a try.
Beautiful
Beautiful ❤️
