Very enjoyable Danny. Having grown up in the late 50s and 60s I loved my Corgi and Dinky cars. Congratulations, the patience and control you have is just amazing.
That's a great resto of possibly one of Lesney's best models. I have fond memories of playing with one on the bit of dirt in my back garden, that my dad left uncultivated, for me to play on, when I was a kid in the late 1960's. Thanks for sharing!
Who would have guessed that that project would be so tricky?! You persevered through the difficulties though, and the final product looks awesome! Great job, mate!
With all of the trouble you had removing and repairing the model parts it looks fantastic! It was certainly worth the effort to restore this very neat looking ambulance. You did a great job on it. Thanks for sharing this tutorial.
I restored one of these. I had install metal rims from an old, unsavable lesney double decker bus, as the plastic rims from the ambulance were actually decaying into a gummy gunk.
I have heard of that happening on some Matchbox models. Lucky, I have not encountered it yet. Doesn't appear to have happened to any of the regular 1/75 series, like the tractors, racing cars, GT40 etc. Only shrinking, which makes the tyres loose. Must have been a different formula in the plastic hubs. There is another manufacturer, which had a problem with diecast aircraft models - which has the diecast metal crumbling away to nothing. Bad batch of metal maybe?
@@WH32R im sorry to hear about that. Some bad luck you happened to get one with this problem. Some of them have a similar problem with the plastic interiors crumbling away too. The challenges we face as restorers.
Excellent recondition. Your Kiwi was showing a bit in this episode though lol. But you gotta love Aussie kiwis!! I know, I married one and his name is Danny too. Xxxxx
The Window was the toughest thing you had to deal with and now you have to fix the back ambulance door this Ambulance is one total challange atleast you'll get it done.
Fun fact - the number plate "GD" comes from Schwäbisch Gmünd which became unavaiable in 1972 and was made avaiable again in 2013. By the way - the 11 at the end looked a bit like an "H" which would mean that it would be registered as a historical car older than 30 years.
Beautiful job Danny. I'm actually in the process of restoration on a k18 horse trailer and truck for my channel. The wait for the parts is the worst.Im spoiled with hot wheels parts, because I can get them in a week or less
@@DannysDiecastDisasters are you sure the Impala did? Some of the lesser varieties would, but usually the Impala was top of the line and got more chrome than the other models. IF I remember right, Grampa's Biscayne had a chrome grill, well mostly chrome, not all of it was chrome., but that was like 60 some years ago, I may not be remembering right. Anyway, chrome don't get ya home but it always looks good.
@@tootall5559 Well I'm not sure about the Impala but I have 2 of the Binz Models and have looked at a lot online and seen others in real life and I can be pretty confident that there is no chrome on the bumpers. You can see when I take the car aprt that there is no chrome on the unexposed areas. I may be wrong.
I really like this one. I have one of these myself in my ambulance collection and will be restoring it someday. Keep up the great videos and the wonderful restorations.
Hard to find original, haven't found a repro part yet. I have one in similar condition to yours so looking forward to getting to it.@@DannysDiecastDisasters
Yours originally came with a patient on the bed as a separate piece. Thats what those holes are for. I've got one of those that is missing tires, has the top crunched and broken glass. I took the steering out already, filed the junk off the top and am going to convert it to a hearse. I will cut out the rear door posts and sand the rear doors off. I might even make a little casket to fit in the back. I'm going to find custom wheels too. It's the reason I looked for this video.
Try soaking the car in warm water next time to remove the windscreen. It'll loosen any dirt that may be holding it to the car as well as soften the plastic a little to avoid cracking.
Oh wow, they did a King Size version of this? I had the small one when I was a kid. I've been hoping to see somebody restore one ever since I stumbled across the rather unexpected world of diecast restoration on RUclips a while back, but the Cadillac-S&S one seems to be a lot more common. :)
How can anyone not like these kinds of restore vids..???
They can find a way trust me ;)
Your patience and creativity in the face of disaster are amazing.
Very nicely done, Danny !
Amazing restoration good job on the back door well done 👍.

Woowwww........ Super Detail
This casting was one of my favorites. I always wanted one as a kid.
Nice restoration
Done perfectly. i like how you show nearly all steps of your work with no rush and love to the restoration needs itself

Nice job. Good video
Terrific job. You did a great job on that fractured door frame! Thanks for sharing your skills, mate.

Very nice job
Wow! Looks like no one ever played with it !👍👍👍👍👍
Wow. You had done a perfect job. Very nice ,old toy car. I have this one in 1:43 scale.
That looks great! Nice work on the restore!
Great job. I have this model, but not king size... Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Amazing .thanks for retoration the old toys .
Beautiful...!
Very nice 🙂
Would have been a perfect ghost busters restoration
Maybe the next one. He said he had another to fix once he gets the tires.
If he does do one as Ercho 1 it should be a Cadillac Ambulance.like from the movie.
Excellent recondition. Your Kiwi was showing a bit in this episode though lol. But you gotta love Aussie kiwis!! I know, I married one and his name is Danny too. Xxxxx
Thanks, I'm not at all Aussie tho lol

Amazing restoration sir. Keep up the awesome work
Love the end product, you had fun matching the cream paint lol.
Very nice. As a kid even if I had the the before version it would have been on of my favorite cars as I loved wagon ambulances.

Great restoration.

Very nice work , cool Ambulance , it came out great . Mike Espo....
the paint mixing is a great help, tks.....the whole thing well done
Came out awesome :)
I'm Happy with That !
Great save on the rear door.

I can't even find parts for most of the kings.
@@DannysDiecastDisasters yes its very limited. I guess it depends on the model. I got stuff coming from 3 different vendors, all overseas
Avuena ahora compañero Yo también tengo esa misma ambulancia y y estaba esperando por ese video Muchas gracias
Damn Danny!! AWESOME
I would have chromed out the grill, but that's always a choice. Now you've got to get the light blinking, like Marty did
Marty did that to a smaller Fire Truck model, which would be harder to do. He also wired a Fire Chief car the same way!
@@PhantomDragonEternal I want to start playing with plating. I think plating would be better than painting when possible.
The original model never had a painted grill.

Wow amazing job friend 👌
Peace ✌️
Nice job!
Marty and Kevin couldn't have done a better job -- that's if that crazy koala lets him get any work done!
That looks fantastic. I thought the rear door failure would have been the end of the video but damn if you didn't save it. Brilliant.
Mercedes ghostbusters ☺👍👍
Another great job keep up the good work
Well done!
Well you had to work hard for this one, but you did well and it looks great!
You're so good at this - and I'm so glad you don't over restore or make it too 'blingy' like some restorers do. This is PERFECT. :)
that's quite a challenge 😎👍
Nice job mate, keep them coming!
Top job Danny! Looks a lot better now.

It would be cool if you could include original pictures of what the cars looked like when they where in production. Cool video nonetheless.
I would likely get snapped for DMCA at some point if I use other peoples photos

That reminds me of the ambulance in the German movie "The American Friend", with Dennis Hopper and Bruno Ganz.
Nice work mate , dentist tools is very helpful I am just saying .
