Another flawless restoration of a King Size truck and full size trailer to go with it. That's more paint than I've ever used in one project! Great detailing, as always, Martin. The crash landed spaceship was a surprise ending. You know what that needs now? A restoration! Please! Greetings from Switzerland - Andrew
Great Restoration Martin. I always liked seeing these running up and down the motorway usually with a huge generator on the back. I will be on the lookout for one for myself to have a go at restoring once the charity shops and markets open up again. Keep up the excellent work and videos.
Nice one once again Martin I do like the Scammell I'm in the process of doing a Scammell scarab for little 3 wheeler tractor unit. Looking forward to you doing the UFO Interceptor as I've had one on the shelf waiting to get done for a couple of months now so will not started yet until I seen your video lol stay safe my friend catch you later. Ralph Cooling
King Size Matchbox, very nice . I don’t have this casting, very nice . Great work as always. The space craft looks very interesting?? SOO KOOOOOLLLL. Mike Espo .
Excellent job. Tool makers did a good job on the casting which you enhanced with your detailing. Theres something about Scammells that shout powerful and this ones no exception Nice one Martin
They look absolutely fantastic Martin and the orange is a much richer colour! I think this set is one of the best larger scale matchbox models. The load was interesting out of this world in fact lol 😀👍
What a fantastic job Martin; must be one of your very best. 👍👌😁 It was a great looking rig straight out the box but with that wee bit of extra bling - what a difference !! Love the paint shade but the silver and black are perfect. One tiny slip and it could have looked terrible but you nailed it. Decent transfers too.✔ The bare metal on the trailer was a great idea too. The purists will probably grumble about your "customisation" but this is the best one of these I've ever seen.👌 One thing that surprised me about this model, especially being a King Size, Matchbox never gave it even a beacon. They put them on plenty others and I'd have thought this could have had a big lightbox on it, along with a beacon and a set of horns. Maybe that's a job for another day? 😁
@@martindaredare It is, but they got the shape spot on. It really captures the feel of the big beastie. Many would disagree with me, I'm sure, but I'd love to see one of these tricked out with after-market bits, fully equipped.
Wow!!!! That's a stunning restoration Martin, absolutely fantastic. The deeper orange colour is better and the detailing is incredible. I just can't praise this restoration enough, one of the best I've ever seen. I'm really looking forward to your next video. Take care and stay safe. All the best. Peter. 👍
Martin, I really enjoyed this restoration of the 6x6 & the 12 wheel trailer, like you the color when well with the detailing that you did as always is excellent. Pretty interesting space craft for a load 👍,( Area 51 or another Roswell ) 🛸. Stay safe my friend, see ya on the next build. 😎👍👍👍🚗🚘
I hope you can add it to your collection mate..I know it needs a lot of work..but I have faith you will do it justice and add it to your bus collection..🇨🇦
G day Martin nice job the colour looks great and that was good thinking on taking the wheels off. All I could think of was cutting the axils in the middle and rejoining them with super duper and some kind of tube but that wouldn't be very original. That alien ship looks familiar is it from Gerry Andersons UFO show. I loved all that stuff as a kid 👦come to think of it I love that kind of stuff now as a 60 year old kid👴 as the wife calls me lol. Stay safe mate and I'll catch ya next week.👍
😄😄 Funny I was going to go with cutting the axles but I had light bulb moment so iam pleased I did. I did a lot of head scratching before then. The space ship is the dinky toys shado interceptor. Have a good what ever time of day it is. Martin
Hi martin many thanks for doing this one i didnt think it would come out that good the orange is amazing. You had me with the surprise i thought has he done the Hatra too. I see Stanley going up the steps surely his bowl is not that large! All the best from Ian & family.
What a gorgeous restoration, I love the detailing Martin, it really makes it stand out, made me think of the Great Dorset Steam Fair and the heavy haulage, although it would probably have had a transformer or a traction engine on it rather than the load in your video😉😊 Really stunning work though, another one for you to be proud of and I love it, well done!👌👍😊 Take care, all the best, Nick.
That has to be one of your best restorations yet Martin! The only problem you're going to have is it's a long ride to Area 51 here in the states LOL. Keep up the great work my friend!
Thanks for watching it's much appreciated I personally don't use taps and screws but the drill size on the matchbox is normally 1.5 mm to go down the post or on dinky and corgi 2.5mm. With corresponding rivets. Hope this helps
Have heard hang the expense, buy the cat another goldfish. Nice restore Martin. Of the Matchbox vehicles that I inherited, I found the hubs has shrunk. The tyres sloppy fitting. Glued them on to save monet
I have 5 of them!two are tractor only,i painted in Pickfords colours, two in Laing livery, the last may appear as a Sunters rig not sure as yet.By the way,you asked how to remove the trailer wheels.Just cut the axles in the middle with side cutters. To replace the axles,i use old cycle spokes, cut to size!.
Loved the video and the restoration, I have the same truck and trailer which Ive had from being a child, I would love to restore mine, how did you clean the glass up so well
Hi Ian, its a good starter restoration, I use sanding sticks or sponges start with the rough and work your way up to the smooth and then the buffer or polisher. You can get the multi sided sanding sticks from most womens make up section. Some people use wet and dry paper . Hope this helps.
Hi Martin where did you get the decals for this scammell? I recently restored one as well didn't see any of the decals on line for this truck unless I missed them ? Great job on the resto luv your work so detailed always job well done
This is going to be beautiful i can tell already just cause of the set up truck on a trailor wonder if that's the truck that Really pulls that trailor martin or different one but im writen as ur video starts ill sit back with cup tea and anjoy☕👌👍

Great videos!! What is the most common drill and tap size on these models once the base rivet is drilled?
Thanks for watching it's much appreciated
I personally don't use taps and screws but the drill size on the matchbox is normally 1.5 mm to go down the post or on dinky and corgi 2.5mm.
With corresponding rivets.
Hope this helps
