Reminds me of Rory. Like maybe should have let them get some more experience under their belts. Idk hookers age but remember Rory being young going up against monsters that have been through it all
To be honest that fight was so brutal it made me think should MMA fights just be 3 rounds. I honestly wondered if Hooker would ever fight again after it.
It lasted less than a minute. Slightly teasing him is not being a dick. Especially considering he gave him respect right after and told him "keep doing what you're doing"@@oliverpiper1882
Dustin’s one of the few fighters who never needed a belt, Dustin winning a belt, though I’m sure it’s something very important to him, will never change how MMA/UFC fans feel about this dude…
100% bro, you beat Max Holloway to win an 'interim' nobody is considering that any less of an achievement than an undisputed title win. Dustin is goated💯
The more and more Dustin fights the more I fucking love him. Every single fight, win or lose soooo fucking entertaining! He's the people's champ for me
Wouldn't exactly call Dan "the new guy" he'd already been in the UFC for like 6 or 7 years at that point and prob had about 15 fights and fought a bunch of legends like Edson Barboza, Jim Miller, and Paul Felder.
Poirier is my favorite fighter and this was the fight that made me a fan of his. Dan is working his way back up and I would love to see a rematch when the time is right.
That's was a crazy fight especially being in the Apex you could hear the punches, Dan nearly had Dustin at the end of the second round but both guys put on a great fight!
I like Poriers mentality, if he loses he knows he’ll have to take a bigger risk in opponent for the next fight not a safer choice, luckily for him it’s paid off.
Dustin himself said that he was saved by the bell after Dan’s knees at the end of round two (I think). Dan fought like a warrior and showed us his heart. The diamond did so as well, I’m a fan of both.
Dustin is freaking Beast man he always fight the Best with no excuses He fought Prime Connor prime Khabib prime Islam and Charles Olivera and never back down from anyone respect 🫡💪🏾
While most fighters evolve slightly when they get to the show. Dustin is different. He keeps changing his fight game. It just keeps evolving to being better and better. A true warrior mentality to overcome what is stopping you from moving forward. 💯
I have nothing but respect for Dan, but Poirier is a savage. I legit thought Hooker might die when they gurneyed him out into the back of the ambulance
So Hooker was not the new guy, he had been in the UFC for a while like 6 or 7 years before that fight. New guy versus veteran but they are basically the same age 1989 1990. They both have around the same amount of fights. Dustin got 40 and hooker for 36 and that is at this point in time. They both have had 7 fights since.
For the record this fight was a split decision and could have went either way. The confidence Dustin had after the bell shocked me and everyone I watched it with cuz it was definitely close
8:00 it frustrates me so much that people don’t realize that the term, Master Chief, is John’s rank. It’s not a nickname that he was given or something. It’s a real rank in the military. Just how Johnson gets called Sarge. Most of the time you go by your rank in the military and if your lucky by your last name and if your unlucky by a nickname some angry Staff Sarge gave you.
Dustin is no joke never ever underestimate him he always has that sudden knockout power waiting. I dont like Dan but fair play to him for getting up on two feet to shake Dustins hand, after taking a beating that most men would not have been able to get up from.
I'm not fan of Hooker, but they're not showing how hooker beat him in first and second round specially in the end of second round, dustin also bleeded and got bruises
When Dustin said “How bout that Dan” I feel like everyone took it the wrong way. Both guys took some very very bad punishment. I feel like Dustin was congratulating him on a top tier brutal fight
Hooker took a beating. But that was the most competitive fight iv ever seen. Porier was taking nasty combos from hooker in round 2. Not to many fighters would have made it through the 2nd round against either fighter. So while nothing you said is wrong , it’s kinda misleading
Let’s be fair here.. this was one of the greatest fights ever. If Dan gets going just a tick earlier or if the 2nd round extends by just another 5-10 seconds, Dan Hooker stops Dustin Poirier.. the last 45 seconds of that round are by far the most fun 45 seconds of fighting you can watch in any UFC fight ever.. so I guess at the same time you could say for Dustin to come back from the brink at the end of that 2nd round to win the fight does prove what an unstoppable force he is. I hate to see the trajectory Dan’s career has taken since then, & I only hope Dustin leaves the game gracefully & we never have to see him leave unrecognizable.
I like both and didn't care who won that fight. But I remember it was during Covid. And you could hear all them punches they were throwing and landing. Dan took some hard punches that night so did Dustin.
It was a BANGER and in the APEX you heard every single shot land . They went to WAR ya Dustin won but that's what our Dan as one of the gate keepers in the division too
