Whatchu know about "recomping?"
These days, the majority of serious lifters seem to be on continuous bulking and cutting cycles. I truly think this phenomenon became so popular because the practice benefited supplement companies, who profited from selling distinct products for bulking and cutting, thereby guaranteeing continuous, year-round customers. But I digress...
Bulking is good for people who need to gain weight and for people who are in fact too low in bodyfat for optimal hormonal milieu for gaining muscle.
Cutting is good for people who need to lose weight.
And recomping is good for people who need simultaneous muscle gain and fat loss. Recomping means you stay the same weight while consuming the same (maintenance) calories while keeping protein high (a gram per pound of bodyweight per day) and gaining strength (engaging in progressive overload). The end result is a smaller, leaner, more athletic appearance, even though the scale doesn't change.
In this video, I discuss recomping as a strategy and provide numerous anecdotes that demonstrate its efficacy.

This video just turned my day upside down, I’ve been bulking… and my father said “your looking too bulky” and it crushed me cause I thought I looked good in that moment and not too fat or anything… so I’ve been sitting here wondering what I’m gunna do because I don’t feel comfortable when bulking and I don’t feel comfortable not eating enough/shredded cause of the seemingly wasted workouts just to maintain muscle and not build muscle makes it so un-motivating to go to the gym. This video just helped me SO much, I really needed this sincerely thank you. I feel like this was made for me

Omg I agree completely. I hate bulking bc I don't want to be heavier and softer looking. I hate cutting that fat I gained during the bulk. Always feel like I'm spinning my wheels and never getting anywhere. To just keep my weight at an average place and build muscle from there would be so amazing and more enjoyable. 👏👏👏👏
I was tempted to do the bulking and cutting phase but I didn’t want to be restrictive with cutting and I didn’t want gain so much fat so I researched recouping and it’s honestly the best decision I’ve ever made
Stop caring about what the people around you are saying and find a body you love no matter what. If you loved how you looked keep loving how you look!
As a self conscious woman I really appreciate the confidence boost and the understanding our body image issues us women dealing with. Thanks not only fot the incredible information but also for much needed mind-set and perspective check.
Sounds like the plan consists of 1) adequate protein (no calorie counting), and 2) heavy lifting. So simple!
I’m a health coach and have my own personal passion for weight lifting. I love helping people with their food, but it’s so frustrating to watch people think they have to do cardio to lose weight. I want to tell them lifting is the secret for everything!!!

Eat at maintenance, 1g protein per pound of body weight, lift heavy with compound movements. It's really that easy.
Halleluiah! This is exactly what I am doing now. Can't eat any less, won't do more cardio. The only solution is to lift heavier! Yahoo!
