Drove one of these with a 6-yd dump the summer of '87, was my first "real" job at 17 years old... no CDL or formal training just asked to "run a load" of gravel for the neighbor who ran a pit. Spicer Twin stick 6-71 I learned on my own, was the best summer of my life! Thanks for the memories.
I cannot LIKE this enough! Gives me the same rush as driving my 1981 - 10 speed Brigadier! Just the sound. Thanks you for posting this! It made my day when I watched it!
I am a retired firefighter I went on the job 1969 most fire trucks were gasoline when got a new engine around mi seventies it was a ladder truck with a 671 it ran for ever never fail us LOUD ,LEAKED, greatest engine ever built probably still running
My dad's oldest brother had a auto body and wrecker service in Ashland, Oregon. My family lived in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area and we went out to visit a couple of times. Uncle Jack's biggest wrecker was similar to this. It was a special treat for a 10 year old to go for a ride in it back in 1977. Thanks for bringing back a special memory.
I’m not much of a Detroit engine lover, but I do like the sound of the 6-71. I love the old GMC ....sweet truck. Love wreckers, cabovers and old trucks in general. 🥰🥰🥰 Good stuff, man! 🤩
@@graystone5.3 🇺🇸 I know the feeling. I like the new rigs, but having grown up around the older rigs sure makes me appreciate them even more! Love the looks of those old rigs!
I drove a similar truck a 72 international that was a 6-71/13 with a Holmes 600 wrecker body. Loaded up it took 6 gears to make it through an intersection.
That’s a 1967 model L with a cultivator. My grandpa’s dad bought that tractor new and my grandpa restored it 20 years ago. Me and dad had put that tractor and my grandpas Massey Ferguson on that trailer for my grandpa’s funeral procession.
@@graystone5.3 Ah gotcha. My dad had this exact truck back in the day but it was white with a red stripe that was similar to the stripe that is on yours. But looking at your other videos it looks like your truck doesn't have the Challenger wheel lift that he added in the early 90's. I've been curious what happened to the truck. The Holmes body was pretty rotted when he sold it so I figure it would've been fixed and repainted by now if it still exists. He sold it to a guy running a scrap yard in Lagrange, IN in the mid 90's
What a beauty....Your dad and pawpaws truck with a 671 Detroit love it....my brother and I are restoring our dads 1952 old Greyhound bus he had, we are trying to get the engine started it's on our garage floor.... we put a turbo on it...we are working on the plumbing for it now....I'm subscribing to you right now and pushing the bell... check our channel out... Thank you! Can’t beat an old Detroit. I love the series 60’s.
My family had a fleet of 6-71 powered single screw GMC 9500 tractors. They were the older version with the headlights in the grill. I miss those days.
Yea I love those too, my grandpa used to drive some back in the day.
Pure joy to hear that music from down under.
That’s the best Bose sound system I’ve ever heard!

She sounds great! And really healthy! But she's missing one thing. A turbo
That brigadier is going to wake up the neighbors.
Nowadays it's CAT swap everything screw that. I'd take an old Detroit any day
Mental note when I do 671 swap, min 6" pipes. Thanks to your family for the comparison.
My favorite Detroit is the 6/71 and love to hear those Detroit’s scream.

How about the Gravely on the trailer?

In the 6-inch exhaust has a muffler?
It has one 10 inch resonator, but we had it running without the resonator at one point. There is no difference.
nice or what i use to drive one with a 3208 cat
Did this truck use to be white and red by chance?
Ugh I’m not sure. My grandpa’s had it since 2012, it’s been black since then. I’m not sure if it would have been different before he got it.

I'd say the dual 6's sound better.
