So , it needs to be lubricated, not greased ????

No it cleans the grime off of it so it can operate smoothly

The man at ATLAS told me to clean those rods with dawn, then spray them with SILICONE. Do not use WD-40, or any type of lubricant. Only use silicone as it will dry into the rods material and prevent further buildup of grime and debris.
