All the helmets are so shiny.! 100 % this was one of the few occasions they came out of the rack!!! lol ( I am not criticizing the workshop, I am sure they provide the safety gear. Its very hard to get the workforce to wear safety equipment in our country.)

Geetaji should be wearing wire mesh for her hair as the gearbox is hydraulic system you don’t want any hair to get into the hydraulic clutches. I have worked as a mech engineer on hydraulic systems for CNC machines
Very interesting. Refurbishing is very important for keeping old equipment functional. Very good workshop. Workers are also professionally dressed and working. The brigadier is also very confident, professional and eloquent.
What amaze me is those mechanics using manual wrench and screw driver in this era.. Indian defence ministry must really step up.. What are those money and cheques for? Dont just emty those cash into your pockets..
@@kryrins overhauling isn't done during wartime. This is a mid life upgrade not your normal repair shop . A tank that's totally damage in war will only come here (if possible) , neither it's repaired at army camp itself.

That's what I meant, who uses an adjustable wrench on an high end machinery, always proper tols precision tools socket wrenches and power tools must be used for repair and overhaul.
This is a refurbishment factory not a brand new manufacturering/assembly factory...not economical too have totally automated assembly lines..just my opinion
After this 100% confidence our repair facilities and skill of these repair actors is way way way below par...with ancient tech and working lazily..removing nuts and bolts manually wonderful!

Brigadier looks smart but the question is How will we sustain our armoured formations if we are in war of high attrition? This workshop needs to be fully automated and be state of the art. It is not to be proud of having this type of workshop in 21st century. The workshop should be cutting edge and highly innovated and I think this is good area for private sectors to get in. I think Bharat Forge, TASL, L&T if given chance to refurbish these tanks they will do much more better than this obselte junk workshop.
First thing, educated and affluent indians are doing randi rona on 18% GST, freebies are a must in all elections. Secondly, yes, contracting is in process. Army is working on reducing number of static workshops. You have to understand these workshops have existed since British era doing these jobs, it's only recently that this area has opened up to private sector. In the coming years, things will be going private way but even the US army still does its own overhaul process.
I see many comments where people are commenting that it is not a modern facility. Yes, cuz it is not driven by profits. Everything comes from Army's budget, and army spends it according to its preferrences and clearly, power tools are not their priority and has to face internal beurocracy. If you know, EME workshops are the units are always short of vehicles to do daily duties and last to receive anything new. Frontline troops get priority. They do their job well with what they have in a country where most people cry about taxes but complaint about everything. I have seen US Army's overhaul facility documentary ans they had powertools but it was more or less same.
Use 3D printing. Reduce number of moving parts from 8000 to 500 or 100. And engage with private company for fast delivery and research . By reducing moving parts, we can build and service tanks quickly
Oh yes! Train people for 4 years and then let them go and then train new people again. That's exactly what the army is supposed to do. Train people for civil world. Not use skills acquired.

@@kunalpandey1672 as u saw in the title it's a rejuvenating workshop we can't really use electrical stuff here all the time , things has to be done by hand tools, and it also happens in Russia, usa, china etc..... in these kind of workshops old tanks are rejuvenated so u can't trust a machine u have to do it urself, we went to a Russian facility and also American facility in Europe, it was pretty similar, ....
