You're a brave man, hope everything works out! Got to go where the heart wants. Looking forward to more videos! I think yours was the best video I've seen about the Playdate.
"Im almost 40". As someone who has been watching you since, idk the fucking powdered Pocari Sweat video, crazy how time just flies by. Also to your point about being an old gamer. That's why to this day i still absolutely LOVE watching HappyConsoleGamer. He's older now, got a kid, married, etc. And seeing his love, passion, and nostalgia for all the topics he talks about is really cool. Also idk why but listening to you rant about bad drivers was hella entertaining.
Respect the hell out of your outlook and openness, Craig. Looking forward to seeing what you put out! Very happy that you two are alive and will soon be well.
As a long time fan (12+ years) and a recent podcaster, I always admired your authenticity and integrity. I'm on the same page with you on pretty much everything relative to not wanting to view my love for Twin Peaks in particular as a profession, not monetizing it in any way, and keeping that creative spark. You've always been genuine and well spoken, so I cannot wait to see the trajectory you take your channel in.
Thank you so much! Although, to be clear, I don’t mind people, including myself, monetizing their contributions. If you make a thing, I think it’s ok to make a buck if you can. I just don’t like the level of exploitation that I so often see these days. Makes every creation feel just a vehicle for ads.
I subscribed in 2010, I hadn't even made this channel yet at that point I had some dummy throw away one insane amount of time to be around, still here watching!
Seems like I'm in the majority of the comments as I've been here for almost 10 years man. You got me through a lot of dark times when I was younger. I always wanted more Context Matters videos and I still do lol
A bit late to the party on this one, but excited to hear about this new chapter for you, Craig. I'm also excited that this new chapter for you means more entertaining content here on the channel for all of us! As a longtime viewer of your channel, it's been such a fun ride to see how the content has evolved over the past decade. I love going back and checking out your older collecting videos (and Context Matters!), but I'm thoroughly enjoying this new "era" of tvandlust, too. Keep up the great work, Craig. Looking forward to all the new content you have planned!
You were one of the first channels that I subscribed to back in the day. I always liked the perspective you brought to game reviews and discussion, you always said what you thought in a platform where everyone else seem to have the same opinion about the same games. Thanks for all these years of videos and podcasts. Your podcast and allgengamers’ were very influential to me. Not only they were the ones that made me understand the concept but also the first ones that I actually followed and listened every week. I’d love of a return of the podcast too, if you find the time, in which format you’d think makes more sense.
Halfway through and wanted to comment. The problem I have with Join, Patreon, etc. is it effectively turns a RUclipsr into a charity, when what they are providing isn’t a charitable endeavour. Moreover, it’s often used in ways I find wrong, such as RUclipsrs only answering questions in live streams if they receive money from viewers to do so. There are a myriad of other indulgences I could add; PO Box ‘donations’, viewer manipulation including ‘basement leaks’, ‘museums’, ‘leaky roofs’, ‘pay my gas so I can go to X convention’, etc. Not that you’d ever do this but a lot of people have been affected by direct payments and gifting on the platform. RUclips has radically changed in the decade or so since it became really popular. I’ll certainly watch your content for as long as you upload, and will support how I can, but I think it’s important to acknowledge that these fundraising endeavours are not apolitical. Nevertheless, few will lose sleep over your coffee tip jar.
I don’t agree with the premise that it turns RUclips into a charity. Other than the frequent mischaracterization of contributions as “donations” (something I make point not to do), these things tend to be a pretty straightforward and largely understood exchange that is, at best, an emergent income/business model and at worst, not much different from busking. I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who confuses these transactions as charity. As for the other “indulgences,” I have a negative gut reaction to those things as well. I would agree it is a little manipulative and I think leveraging one’s audience for personal emergencies is not great (and a gross miscalculation in the average earning potential of this “career path”). So I understand your perspective. I agree with it. But we also both agree it’s a not a thing I’d do. So given that, it feels a lot like projecting grievances of others onto me, which I don’t find reasonable and I would ask that you don’t do. In 14 years, the most I’ve done is add a tip jar I don’t even rattle. That’s not nearly the same as soliciting “donations” for home repair, and I don’t think it’s fair to examine them with the same lens.
Excellent video, Craig. As a long term subscriber, I’ve always enjoyed your videos and wish you the best of luck on this new venture. I will be tuning in to new content. ~ Jenny
I am one of those people that made my hobby a job, and while I feel very lucky to have been able to do that, on some days it *really* is just a job :) Really looking forward to more videos, especially with a "getting older" skew. I generally feel I loose interest in many channels, because they fail to do exactly that, trying to resonate with the people we were 10 years ago.
Hey, Craig! Glad to hear you are doing well, especially in light of the accident. I've enjoyed your content since you started and I look forward to the future of your channel. Also, I think safe drivers ARE amazing drivers (My old man opinion). 😁
Good luck with the future plans dude. I hope it works out good for you. Glad to hear that apart from a few injuries you and teh wife are ok. Thats crazy! - Take care
Super excited to see more content from you. Been watching you since middle school and I’m a few years out of college now haha. I remember I found you cuz you sent a package to finngamer and I’ve been a fan ever since! Glad to see you pursuing what makes ya happy!
I'm just happy we'll get more TVandLust content! Your content always felt like the most personal type of video game content to me, and that still makes you unique to this day. I'm excited to see where you will take your videos now that you get to put more time into them. I've been watching you for about 12 years now, and I can't wait to be here for the next 12 years of your channel!
I appreciate the perspective you share in a lot of your videos. Your trimming the fat update video definately helped mold my perspective about how I accumulate games. I'm very excited to see the new videos you upload. I'm glad both you and your wife didn't get seriously injured in the crash.
Congrats on the new kitten! (and the quitting of the job) but especially the cat, maximum joy for you. Glad to see you're healthy as you can be and lookin' forward to seeing what comes next!
Wow its so great to have you back!! Please make videos about physical games, I love those. Also, if you dont have loud noises in your videos I can add them to my "sleep" playlist that I have on repeat and I can give you extra views each day. Welcome back again!!!
Can't believe how its been like 12 years since I first watched one of your videos. Glad to see/hear that you're going to be around more! We love you, Craig!
I hope things work out and whatever videos you'll make fulfill you. I remember the videos you made back in the day and I've always loved the little anecdotes you include. You've also convinced me to look into a lot of games over the years - some I ended up buying and others I passed on, but the videos were always interesting.
Been watching for 12 years now and will continue to watch any and everything you put out. Heck in the mid 2010s you inspired me to do my own channel for a bit and it was because of your content that you made. I’ve stuck around for this long and will continue to do so because I believe in your content. Good luck man, you got this.
been watching you for several years (even before starting videos myself). looking forward to seeing more vids from you. gotta do what makes you happy and its good you're still here.
Your spectrobe review was my first experience with the channel and I've been with ya ever since bud. Was sad to see your channel gone at one point but we're glad to have you still producing interesting stuff for us
any content you put out I'm here to watch, I've been subscribed to you for over 11 years now, that video you put out of your 2011 Tokyo trip is what got me into checking out your other content, love all your content. Hopefully you do make stickers and pins in the future, look forward to the new content. 🙂
One thing I will say is to use a compressor and bump up the audio in post as the past few videos have been very very quiet. Looking forward to more videos!
Only about halfway through the vid when writing this, but I would highly suggest you expand your socials. Like doing a tiktok might be good to grow your base. Been a subscriber for probably over a decade. Always been one of my fav youtubers even with all the highs and lows.
It’s a good suggestion! The job I left was actually marketing, so there are a lot of things I know I can or even SHOULD so but I just want to make videos and maybe tweet some things. I don’t want to be, like, a brand, you know? But thanks for sticking with me for over a decade :)
Hope everything goes well Craig!! Glad you’re ok after the wreck. I think you should lean into Nintendo DS/3DS as sort of your semi-niche maybe, like how certain YT’ers are known as the “Kirby guy” or the “PS1 guy” etc, of course not ONLY DS/3DS but perhaps be a focus on your channel? Just a random suggestion since you’re a huge fan of those portables 😆 I’m here regardless!
I’m reluctant to be pigeonholed as a specific kind of RUclips guy (even if, let’s be real, I AM that guy), but I am almost certainly going to do more 3DS and DS stuff. Those are the games I own the most of, and the systems I’m most knowledgeable about, so it’s an easy fit!
I remember when there was a time where you said you were leaving RUclips and here you are going "full time"! Life is definitely getting busier as I am getting older and taking on more responsibilities, but I'll always make time for your insight Craig. 12 years and beyond to the next chapter of TV and Lust!
"I got into a car accident recently" - Dude haven't you mentioned that happening before? that is some serious shit luck to have that happen twice! Hope everything is alright.
lol I may have mentioned my wife’s accident. The only other car accident I’ve been personally in was ages ago, and it was minor. Someone backed into my car in a parking lot and cracked the bumper. No injuries and only a brief inconvenience
Hey man, I've been watching you and subscribed since I was in middle school. I wish you the best of luck and hope things work out. You don't look a day past 27!
