Past - No (unless you mean what our history could have been then yeah) Germany is an example of a country robbed of its past since WW2. Germans no longer have a Prussian culture

Fun Fact: In the 1800s, a third of the British Army was Irish. Irish people actually colonised most of the world along with the British.
Also, the man who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo, Sir Arthur Wellesley was Irish. He should have been here.

But it was not an Irish institution and does not change the fact that Ireland was a victim of British colonialism too, nor does minorities in it's army indicate our complicity. There were plenty of Indian and African troops in the colonial forces too. For some it was their only escape from poverty.

@@morriganggremind me again who conquered and colonized the pics the people the Romans failed to beat and created Scotland
it was the Irish who created Scotland
the roman word for Irish raider was scotti thus were the word scot comes from the scots were originally from Ireland there entire culture and language comes from Ireland
Also majority of British army was Irish after the battle of Waterloo mainly due to the fact that the Duke of Wellington was from Ireland
That went in to conquer India
      and many other places
Of course this famously lead O’Connell who was in the Irish land league to make up the horse and stable quote to slander the Duke of Wellington falsely
And drum up anti British sentiment Only to later to be used again as Irish nationalist propaganda against Britain

When the Vikings came they didn't take control of the entire country but Established various ports in the likes of Dublin, Wexford & Waterford.
These then became the first large towns in Ireland. So the figure likely wouldn't be half but their influence was large, so there would be plenty of Scandanavian ancestry around these areas.
