So the figure likely wouldn't be half but their influence was large, so there would be plenty of Scandanavian ancestry around these areas.

But it was not an Irish institution and does not change the fact that Ireland was a victim of British colonialism too, nor does minorities in it's army indicate our complicity. There were plenty of Indian and African troops in the colonial forces too. For some it was their only escape from poverty.
