- In this video, I fished Big Spring Creek near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. I caught a bunch of small wild brook and Rainbow Trout nymphing and also with a small streamer. The water temp was 50 degrees, and the air temp was in the low to mid 50s that day - cool and cloudy. This was my second time exploring Big Spring and it was definitely a lot different then my summer visit. If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs-up and consider subscribing for more fly fishing and fly tying content.

My favorite stream in our area. I have such a special place in my heart for Big Spring. You definitely had a great day!. It seems like its ALWAYS feast or famine on big spring. Maybe ill run into you one of these days! Tight lines.
Excellent work here my friend. This is a tough stream and you picked it right a part. Says a lot about your skill. Keep it up!
Thanks for watching!
you make this look easy! Big spring and Letort are notoriously diffuclt streams, great job!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the complement!
I was thinking the same thing. Now I feel quite inferior :)
😎😎
Slow day for Justin: 20 trouts
I wish my slow days were with that many fish hahaha
Amazing you always land some. You take after your dad.
Awesome video!
Thanks for watching!
You are fishing what at one time, many years ago, was a world famous Trout fishery for a wild population of large Brook Trout. You're wading and fishing a Spring that the great fly fisherman Theodore Gordon fished. If you have never read the trout and fly fishing writings of Theodore Gordon, you should.
Sadly, Big Spring and its world famous Brook Trout fishery was ruined by Man's intervention and the creation of a Fish Hatchery at the headwaters of Big Spring (long ago closed). Although there has been some promising results with stream restoration efforts in later years...Big Spring will never be as it once was.
Didn't know that this stream had such an interesting history, thanks for sharing!
@@hotspotnymphing - Absolutely one of the greats of fly fishing...Theodore Gordon was the originator of the Quill Gordon fly pattern. He fished on Big Spring Creek as well as other Limestone streams in Pennsylvania.
Here is a short video about him :
