The part with the bird really got me. So emotional. To me it symbolises freedom and hope to “fly” again after all we’ve been through. This year has been a struggle for so many of us, but so many in the world struggle even more besides battling the virus. May this year be much better for all of us.

Oh boy! This one hit all the feels! NO other UK ceremony really had that effect its always been bland boring and repeatative. But the use of more locations such as Wembley and the o2, Tower Bridge, The light show and the stories told reflects back on a highly emotionally charged year with the sacrifice we all had to make and adapt to.
How could you not tear up to this?

The Nightingale was breathtaking! The way the drones were condonated to move the wings was just awe inspiring seeing it in 2024 still gives me chills up my spine

Watching from the Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 and since we have had earlier welcomed the new year here, I actually said to my brother last night that I wish to see a fireworks display that would honor the frontliners of this pandemic. London literally made it real!

I'll be honest, i hoped and thought the BBC would do something secret like this to start off 2021 but i didn't expect anything this big, and I personal think that this years fireworks were better than any other year as it was across a whole city showing some of our landmarks instead of just Westminster. What a way to start 2021 off with a bang! So fair play BBC and the london authorities, thoroughly enjoyed that and has made my year. Happy New Year!!!

The UK definitely did the best with this. They really included covid, the NHS, Captain Tom, online lessons and BLM all in one fireworks show. Outstanding. 8 months later and still get emotional over it.
So do I and can’t believe my hype went down. January was a sick month. February was okay until Captain Tom sadly died and Prince Philip hospitalised for a month and died in April 9th. July 19th actually happened thanks to me hitting covid down again, Princess Diana’s 60th birthday I loved. August 7th Wales restrictions lifted. So my beloved 2021 has been very down for the past 4 months

i remember watching this as a 13 year old and being oddly overwhelmed. 2020 was the first year i actually struggled with my mental health, and the reflective yearly recap mixed with the joy that it was over was so much for me i remember crying the second i got back to my room. and here i am, crying again. i can’t believe it’s only been 2 years, it feels like nothing and everything at the same time, but i’m now 15 and i love new year more than christmas. i party hard now, with people who i didn’t even know this time 2 years ago.
but coming back here 2 years on is so mad, the way things got worse and so much better at the same time, it’s still overwhelming. captain tom died, corona virus is practically gone. i can’t wait for what 2023 is going to bring. 🤍

You weren’t... After losing 3 people to the virus in my extended family last year, this display was more of reflection than celebration.. also, it was a display of hope and positivity. I shed a tear basically at the thought 2020 was in the past. I know the effects of the virus doesn’t end at midnight, but we have vaccines, we have Drs and scientists who now know what we’re dealing with.... I just pray we have a population that will abide by the rules and advice in order to bring this to an end.

Beautiful music, heartfelt messages, magnificent fireworks and phenomenal drone choreography all perfectly synchronized to commemorate 2020 and welcome the long waited new year. Absolute masterpiece of a production! THIS was what I had been waiting for and I thank you, England, for gifting us with this treasure. New York celebration, on the other hand, was an absolute abomination and I am disgusted that America turned the night that is supposed to be about celebrating the end of a very difficult year into one celebrating corporate sponsors with a piss poor excuse of fireworks. I end tonight with this video hoping that I can permanently unsee the shitshow that went down in New York.
As a Londoner, I generally agree with your views on NYC's NYE celebration. Ads everywhere, same songs, underwhelming fireworks display, cheesey performances from names I never heard of, etc. But to be fair, it is unique, unique enough for me to tune in to CNN at 4:45am some years for the past decade or so. I just watched the recorded webcast (slept through it this year), and it's good to see that a few COVID19 "heroes" were invited to see the show. I like watching people dance and interviewed. I also learnt that the confetti is actually wishes people wrote down, and something goes on every hour over the course of six hours until the countdown. I think in most other cities, the fireworks are publicly funded, whereas the Times Square ball is privately owned by the building owners and they and the sponsors fund the show. So I guess without these, there wouldn't be a NYC celebration, as tacky as the ads are. But yes, this London NYE display was the best this year, in my opinion. I get bored of the samey displays put on almost every year, but things go on in my home that I don't pay much attention to it... except this year. The news told us there would only be a short pre-recorded light show at the London Eye and to stay at home. We've been fooled!
Our celebrations will always be shared with the rest of the world as a nation we care about others, but we have a special bond with the US, so please share our display and keep safe and well ❤️
