Two disciplines are held in synchronized swimming at the Olympic Games: the duet and the team competition. Both disciplines comprise two rounds: a free routine and a technical routine. In the team competition, there is also an acrobatic routine. Wang L. and Wang Q. won the gold medal in the duet.

LOVE the camera that shows above and below the water line! This sport requires amazing breath control...very difficult. WOW!
Imagine winning TWO gold medals (team and duet) with your twin sister ❤. This was their 5th routine at the Olympics (3 for team, 2 for duet). The silver and bronze medalists did not compete in team events, so only had to prepare 2 routines.
The Dutch team who got bronze were twins too. The silver team from Britain also had zero funding and work normal jobs so don't put them down so easily there not getting paid thousands and best training like the Chinese pair, they did there training in a public swimming pools while working full-time jobs 🤔

Gosh their synchronicity was almost perfect. Trust China to have such naturally disciplined and talented acrobat and athletes. So elegant and precise.

I’m surprised the commentator didn’t praise their amazing lack of splash during their execution or how amazingly in sync they were. The only thing she pointed out was a timing error late in the routine. Anyways…amazing job ladies. Amazing! As a fellow BRICS lady, I am so proud of you

I was asking about this a few years ago to teammates who ended up continuing to compete in past Olympics. When we were training it was all about "no splash" and when I started following again a few years ago after a 20 year break, I asked them exactly why everything now was so "splashy".
Also she comments on the change of music pace which was routine in the past to not have just a straight set of the same melody and something I miss having the routines show off not only strength, but beauty and grace that is the core or synchronized swimming.

I myself did not see any timing error at all, but I'm not an expert. Lol. All I saw was a jaw dropping performance. The strength and control and discipline is amazing to watch. Bravo.

Very captivating. Artistic swimming should be a priority viewing like gymnastics. Just don’t see enough of it and it’s brilliant entertainment alikened to seeing a show. They deserved gold. Excellent precision with their feet and just very together. I also saw Britain and they got silver or bronze and also loved their routine and they also deserved their medal as was executed with great precision. Anyway back to these two lovely twins I thoroughly enjoyed it.😊❤

Human achievement is beyond belief and I am always relieved that we are capable ,with all the horrible events around us, we rise to our potential even if some brothers and sisters are behaving like they are not humans
Twins would definitely have an advantage because their bodies are the same size and shape, so they can make the same movements. It always amazes me when multiple people act in synchronization. Then they do it upside down in water! Anybody who does this is a fantastic athlete.
The bellyflop at 51 seconds- I obviously don't know anything about this sport because if I was asked I would've thought the belly flop was a fail, lol. They're very talented & extremely in synch though!

Those defending breaking as a sport similar to gymnastics, synchronized swimming, or figure skating should see that the comparison is not even close given other elements needed in these sports. In fact, ballet is more difficult than breaking.
