    Never ran my 3100 with the built in eMMC, just using a 32GB M.2 drive and been working great.

    what exactly was running slow? im looking at buying a sg 3100 myself, first time setting pfsense up. any advice?

      The whole system was running slow. The onboard 8GB memory just isn't enough space and didn't run my system well. I think if you're running pfsense bare-bones, you'd probably be fine. I have 7 VLANs, I'm running DNS on the device and running pfblocker. I had it were the logs filled the internal drive and crashed the whole system, even when it was cleaning up the logs. I've also set up my system with port forwarding because I host some servers in my location. The new disk has yet to choke for me and therefore allowed me to keep my SLA because I don't have to restart the device anymore. When I was just using the internal 8GB memory, I'd have to do a forced reboot 2 a month.
      I hope to have a video up soon of how I've done my set up.

    Great video.... What is the micro SD slot for on this?

    • @FroggTech
      @FroggTech  2 года назад

      It's a micro sim slot for a cellular connection.

    Thanks for the helpful video! Hopefully this is not a stupid question, If I am running a plex server and trying to connect to it remotely, it gives me a error and can't connect or it says its connecting indirectly. I tried put the private and public ip from plex settings but having no luck.

      No worries. I'm glad to help. I'll work on getting a Plex and PFSense setup video done later this week. Should be easier to walk through on a video than trying to type it out. Keep an eye out for it near the end of this week.

      @@clubtc05 So I've been trying to figure out the remote connection all week and haven't found a real solution. The best I've been able to find is to setup a VPN Connection back to the pfsense box and connect as if you're on the local network.

    No. I've been using an SG 3100 well over 2 years now with snort, pfblocker and no slow issues at all. What is "slow" on your router?

      oh yeah! Nothing anymore, I did the upgrade.

      I run pfblocker on my sg3100 and my Internet speed reduce to 450mbps vs close to 700mbps without pfblocker (I pay for 600mbps). The firebox temperature raises to 168 and used 95-99% CPU.

    will this work for SG-1100

    • @FroggTech
      @FroggTech  3 года назад

      Unfortunately, no. The SG-1100 does not have an M.2 sata port inside of it. It is not upgradable.
