For a little background info, the bands involved are Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax, the "Big Four" of Thrash Metal. The guy with the V guitar and shaggy blonde hair is Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. He was a founding member of Metallica and got fired before they put out their first album. There's been plenty of bad blood there over the years, which is just one of the reasons this was such a big deal. When they show him hugging Lars Ulrich (Metallica's drummer) and Kirk Hammett (Metallica's guitarist), it was a very deep moment for the public to see.
Diamond Head's Brian Tatler has made quite a nice living off this song, since Metallica have featured it on so many of their live releases and he gets royalties from it.
Here's a bit of background for why they chose this song. Feel free to skip this if you already know the story or are tempted to call me an idiot for getting it wrong. Before he started Metallica, drummer Lars Ulrich was a teenage metalhead who worshipped the British metal bands that had emerged in the late '70s and early '80s. One of the bands he loved most was Diamond Head, and he schlepped all over Europe to follow the band and watch them play. Eventually he was so ubiquitous at shows that the band just ended up inviting Lars to travel with them. So little Lars Ulrich from Denmark got his first real taste of life in a heavy metal band travelling with Diamond Head. I think that was the tour where he famously go so drunk he threw up on Lemmy from Motorhead. A few year later Lars forms Metallica and because and they had so few original songs they would play some of these British metal tunes and pretend they were theirs, since a lot of these bands hadn't really been to the States. But Lars was an obsessive tape trader and knew all of them, and one of the songs they played all the time was Diamond Head's 'Am I Evil?' And ever since then Lars never hesitates to shout-out Diamond Head for their influence on Metallica, and they have played this song live for decades.

Everyone gives Slayer shit for not being there(except Dave Lombardo) but Kerry got called away to go over editing, that's why he's not there. Dave Jr. of Megadeth even confirmed that in his book. Tom didn't want to do it because he didn't like the song they picked, and thought The Four Horseman would be more appropriate. And Jeff was a recluse who never stuck around after shows, not even to watch other bands.

@@nanaking9560 Dave Mustaine from Megadeth was the original lead guitarist for Metallica. But he was a violent, volatile drunk and they fired him the day they arrived in New York to record their first album. They woke him up, put him on a bus back to San Francisco and asked Kirk Hammett to join. On that bus ride, seething with rage and hurt, Mustaine vowed to start a band that would crush Metallica. He created Megadeth and was bitterly nasty towards Metallica in interviews for decades. Especially when he heard the band playing the songs that he wrote for them, and Kirk playing his guitar solos almost note-for-note. Watching Metallica get bigger and bigger only fueled his anger, even though Megadeth were also becoming very successful in their own right, ultimately selling over 20 million records. By 2000 Dave had become a born again Christian and a few years later agreed to a therapy session with Lars where he spilled his guts about how he felt for all these years. You can see portions of this in the incredible documentary METALLICA: SOME KIND OF MONSTER. These Big Four shows were kind of the ultimate way Mustaine could show that he had forgiven Metallica and held no further animosity towards them. Seeing him onstage with them in this video is a massive moment for metal fans. And later, when Metallica did the 30th anniversary shows, he joined them again and played some of the songs he had written for them.
When even Dave Mustaine is smiling, you know it's been special... lol!

Rammstein Ohne Dich React 💌
Love Rammstein !!!!!!! I’m sure we’ll be checking it out soon. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Things happen & fans get disappointed unfortunately. Thanks for the info & keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Live from Sofia, Bulgaria. Im from Bulgaria and still cant believe i missed this one :(

No egos there, lol
You know the "old people listening to thrash" doesn't hold water anymore. You know why? Because this song came out 1983, so if you guys are 60 today that means you were 22 years old when this came out.
Please Turn the Page from Metallica (original video). thnx !!
Thanks for the suggestion Luis. Keep rocking. 🖤✌🏻🎶🤘🏻
I think Metallica are the best band ever for cover songs. They're always great. 'Whiskey In The Jar' is also terrific.
Now it's time for Megadeath after all Metallica is the reason it was formed.
you need to do systems down by ac/dc off their new album
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m so glad AC/DC is back!!!!!’. Keep rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤

@@nanaking9560 I had just learned that my last living Uncle is dying and I'm heartbroken. He's the reason I started singing and writing songs. I still have the 12 string Conrad guitar he gave me in the early 80s. All of my songs were written with it. But I can't go visit him.
@@nanaking9560 I had just found out that my last living uncle is dying. He's the reason I started singing and writing songs. Do u know the story behind Metallica and megadeth
Not sure what you mean, but always willing to listen. 🖤✌🏻🎶🤘🏻
One eye what a bloody brilliant explanation, who is your favourite though, Metallica or Megadeth?
@@nanaking9560 and also if not for all these we would have never gotten speed metal
@@davidmoore5741 mine is megadeth only because Metallica songs are long and repetitive but I love both bands
Unfortunately they don’t play the solo which is considered one of the most wildest solos.
