I've been actually waiting for someone to make a video on Mr. Jefferson, he's truly one of the most interesting villains in gaming history to me. I can't believe how he isn't more talked-about, but I'm happy you made an analysis of him.
Hopefully you make more essay videos in the future, they are pretty detailed and entertaining :)

"Yes, you're a psychopath. And this is your last session" as Max said. That's why I never believed him when he said its Nathan who killed Rachel. Wish we had a game that takes place between Bts and LiS to see what actually happened. Hope they decide to make it someday.
    Great video Ola!

To be fair, Nathan being responsible for Rachel´s death is explained not only by Jefferson, but the game also confirms it later when Max talks with Frank. And there was even an unused letter for Episode 5 from Nathan to Jefferson (who is angry with Nathan and has avoided him for several months) where he admits "Yes, I know I fucked up with R." It makes sense because she´s the only victim who died in the dark room, the first person in decades who has gone missing in the town, and the photo of furious Rachel was framed differently. We also know Nathan later did the exact same mistake with Chloe in his dorm room.
Storywise, there was literally no point for the writers to make Jefferson lie about Nathan, and not give us any way to discover the truth. Because at that point of the game, the loooong conversation between Max and Jefferson is there to simply fill in the last gaps of the main mystery, explain what happened 6 months ago. After that scene, Rachel's subplot is definitely closed and we won't have any chance to do further investigation. It makes no sense that the devs made Jefferson casually talk with Max (he´s going to kill her soon anyway) about how he has murdered several people (Nathan, Chloe, Victoria), and admit he was behind what happened to Kate, but blame Nathan only for Rachel´s death, if it's not true.

I always thought Mark Jefferson would have been perfect for an episode of CSI.

I differ from a lot of people in that I don't think it's very likely Jefferson ever killed anyone prior to his involvement in Rachel's death (which, while legally a principal to felony-murder, I think he'd be what most laypeople would think of as an accomplice or accessory). I think Jefferson is more NPD than ASPD, although he'd ring both bells in a clinical setting.
I also don't really analyze Rachel through the lens of Jefferson's pathology, his "idiom"; I think he involved himself with her for the same reason a lot of men in their 30s would - and it's one of my arguments against him being properly ASPD, I think he's a malignant narcissist with some psychopathic tendencies. He still has sexual interest and desires and would take a risk like that because his elevated sense of his own brilliance outweighs his risk aversion.

9:56 I've always wondered every time I played the game how a high school in the middle of nowhere would have such a high level photographer as a teacher.... this makes so much sense now, I should have thought of that 😂

I think he’s a physcopath because remember in episode 2 when he made Kate cry, he didn't even seem to notice she was upset and kept on blaming her for what happened, this was a really great video, also, do you think Nathan could've been redeemed?

I don't quite understand the obsession a lot of people have with fictional psychopaths. That being said, I think a villain that might fit the traits of a psychopath described in this video is the killer in Ris From the Ashes in Ace Attorney (Not spoiling who). They were never described in the game as a psychopath, but they were where my mind went when you read out the traits. Namely the cautiousness, planning, and tendency to use others, typically posing as a friend.

Soo what do you think the universe where chloe and max alive and living together ( I mean sacrifice Arcadia bay ending) did Jefferson manage to survive and will he haunt back to max and chloe? Cause Victoria Chace did survive (you'll get the refference in life is strange 2) cause she was in the bunker same as David
PS : Sorry my english is weak ;))

This is an excellent video and it does describe him perfectly. There is a lot about Mark and Rachel I would like to know, but I honestly do think he loved her in a way. I've always kind of assumed psychopaths would love someone like I love my computer. If it breaks, there are all of my files and some things might not be replaceable. But I can always get a new one and start again. I absolutely love Jefferson. As a character they did a fantastic job at making him seem realistic.
As for would prison change him? I currently am writing a story about that in the nerdiest way possible. ;) [Spoilers, he gets worse]
