אדון עולם הוא אחד הפיוטים הידועים והמושרים ביותר בקהילות ישראל השונות. בשלב מסוים הוא צורף לסידור התפילה ונהוג לקוראו לפני תפילת שחרית. מחבר הפיוט אינו ידוע, וחוקרים שונים ניסו לשער את זהותו. מבנה הפיוט ומשקלו מרמזים כי מקורו כנראה מספרד או מאיטליה, כנראה מתקופת ימי הביניים. הפיוט זכה ללחנים רבים ממזרח וממערב, ואף ללחן מודרני מן המאה ה-20 של עוזי חיטמן שהתקבל כשווה ללחנים הקדומים. הלחן המושר בביצוע זה מבוסס על מנגינתו של שיר עם ארמני בשם "נובר נובר".

Lord of the world who reigned

The awesome Name.
"Adon Olam" is a traditional Hebrew hymn that is recited in Jewish liturgy. Its authorship is not definitively known, but has been attributed to Solomon Ibn Gabriel of Andalusia and the Hai Gaon of Baghdad among others. Its origins certainly date back to the Middle Ages. Until today it is widely sung and recited in Jewish religious services and has become an important part of Jewish musical tradition. It is also one of the traditional hymns most often set to music. The melodies that carried its words spread from Persia in the East, all throughout European communities to Spain and North Africa in the west. The melody in this arrangement is based on an old Armenian song called "Nubar Nubar".
