@Anthony Santiago, this guitar nails Hard Rock tones. It's similar to a Les Paul in that sense but with the coil taps you can get some other tones too. It doesn't really get fuzzy, the pickups are medium gain and quite smooth. Thats what I like. Cheers

DAMN! Nick, you do a guitar demo the way its SHOULD be done. Your sounds are just incredible. Can't wait for your next guitar demo.BTW,are you an Ibanez product endorser,or do you just like Ibanez guitars like I do?
Phil Spigner thanks! Yep, I'm an Ibanez endorser. Have been for a few years now. I choose to use their guitars cause they work great for what I do eg lots of types of music.
+Jarred Chapman Great news. Be sure to let them know that you saw this video, that way they know and it might help with getting to make more of these videos. Cheers
I agree. My #1 fave was always the Yamaha SG, but, truth be told, I might actually like this better. Not as heavy, coil-tapping, and otherwise very comparable!
I've now had this guitar for a month and have to say it is sounding better. I always find new guitars take a while to break in. I think it's only going to get better. This demo was done when the guitar was brand new.
I found the neck very comfortable from day one cause it's virtually the same as the neck on my JSM 100 Sco Ibanez that I used a lot prior to having this guitar. I think the next would feel better over time. The whole guitar feels a little new to me, so I'm looking forward to breaking it in.
Thanks for a great demo with a huge variety of tone. I’ve been planning to buy an as200 and see there is the ar520 which is semi hollow. I have the use of an LGB30 at the moment and whilst it is very good, the build quality isn’t to die for, my Cortlcs1 Is much better. How does this guitar compare in build to your jsm100?
@@TheJazzucator the JSM100 is my favourite guitar, of any! I can’t recommend it enough. Do try one. The Ar420 is more like a les Paul whereas the jsm like a 335 so different beasts. I’m more aligned to the 335 thing and the jsm kicks the ass of any Gibson (except maybe a vintage 62 or something similar which no one can afford)
@@NickGranville thank you for taking the time. That’s what I was hoping to hear. I am looking for a guitar that is beautiful in every way and does not cut corners. All I need now is an open shop. Xxxxx
Around 20 years or so ago I had the AR-300 with coil taps. I eventually sold it along with the Roland GR-300 and put the money towards a Gibson Les Paul.
Mr GShocker I have a les Paul but hardly ever use it these days. I much prefer this AR420. The weight is better and I find it a far more versatile instrument due to the coil taps and general tonality. It's quite different to those old Ibanez guitars, you should try one. The biggest difference being the weight - the old ones weighed a tonne.
Bought this a few ago and love it. Now , I had an early 80's Ibanez Artist EQ1000 and , if I remember correctly the body was much thicker and heavier on the early 80's Artist models
Johnny Dollar Me too. I love the neck. I don't like thin neck guitars, this neck is perfect in my hand. I have played the 70's models and they all are very heavy and don't resonate like these guitars. It's a big improvement in my opinion. Cheers
Thanks Nick. The ar420 will be replacing an LP. Just can deal w the weight anymore and a double cutaway gives me easier access to the higher frets which has always been a strain w the LP so I think the AR 420 will give me those benefits while delivering that warm solid body humbucker tone that LP’s are known for.
Thanks Nick I truly enjoyed this. so helpful. I think I ll go for one of these now thanks to you. And hey..you sure play great man. Love your feel and phrasing. love from UK
Very nice Nick! I have the AR720FM... Absolutely love it... It has the 80s Flying Finger pickups in it... Some of the newer model AR300s have the same pickup... Most have the older 58s... I like the older 58s, but don't care for the newer ones... Just not quite the same. I recorded a rhythm track and sent it to a friend... His comment... "I think you found your guitar"... That says a lot since I own about 20 guitars. One thing... The AR720s are now going for less than what you paid for your 420! (which I don't understand at all)... I saw one used for $425... When mine was new it cost $1000... Yes, it is not made in Japan, but I tell you what, I have guitars made in Japan, and this one matches the quality without a doubt!!!
Those older Ibanez guitars were awesome. Highly under rated. The AR420 is a reissue. It's way lighter which is great. I can't use heavy guitars on long gigs - my back hates it. Enjoy.
I'm a Robert Fripp type player. Always sitting. It's the only way to play these guitars. I've got an Ibanez Studio bass as well as an Ibanez Blazer. Fantastic Guitars.
Nightingale1887 It's a little thinner than a LP and way lighter than an LP so in my opinion more comfortable. I have a LP that sits under my bed, I prefer this guitar desite it costing 1/3 of the price. Cheers
Nick Granville yes i believe you are right, from seeing the guitar on the net and reading the specs i thought it would sound good but its always good to see a really good demo, love the gilmour style playing and tone also thats worth a subscribe from me
Hi Nick, you made me buy this guitar today with your review ! I receive the guitar tomorow... :-) I had in the past an AF75 and a Jtk2 i really liked, i hope to like more this one which seems to be better built. Have a good day !
I'm sure you'll dig it. It's an amazing guitar for the money, and compares with instruments worth a lot more. I found that by moving the strap button to by the neck (like a 335) the guitar is way more comfortable. Does that make sense? If not, contact me on Facebook and I'll send you a pic. Try it. cheers
Nick Granville Yes i well undestand the move of the strap on the back near the neck junction like on a 335 Gibson..., it must be better due to the light weight of the body, but i usually play sat... I hear again your video, well played and beautifull different sounds... I'm mostly a strat' player, but i like humbucker sounds too and i wanted a good guitar (easy to play and good sound for blues-rock-soul-funk-jazz) and not overpriced...i'm pretty sure to be really happy, i liked the entry level ibanez i had so this one can only be better,.. Few hours to wait to discover the beauty ! :-) Did you noticed that this guitar sound better with a particular kind of amp ? (for the moment i have a Fender pro junior and a Vox ac4tv). Have a good Nick !
The only amp this guitar hasn't sounded good with was a little fender solid state amp. But thats not the fault of the guitar, rather nothing would sound good with that amp! Ha. Sounds like you've done your research. Enjoy the guitar.
Nick Granville Hi Nick, i received the guitar today, just tried it for 2 hours with the Pro junior and the ac4tv, ans WOW !!! I really like the splitt, when you play in single mod it's really like a good single pickup (usually i don't lik splitt with humbuckers, it isn't like a real single coil, no good dynamic, less volume..., but the super 58 gives a great splitt with a real single coil sound !), you feel like you have a stratocaster and a Gibson in one guitar with a lot of great tones !!! Mine seems to have a darker violin sunburst than your...(may be due to the light), whatever it's a beautiful guitar and really easy to play (i like the neck and the weight of the guitar) and good finish all over ! I'm really happy with the AR420, you were right Nick, it's a great guitar !!!
Excellent, glad to hear it. Lately I've been using the parallel setting a lot. it sounds very similar to the single coil but no single coil hum. It's quieter that the humbucker setting. Glad you are enjoying the guitar. It's my main guitar now, and I'm very happy with it.
Because it is a 24 fret neck the neck pickup is slightly closer to the bridge than a Les Paul making it brighter and less deep in tone and a bit thin sounding, just different. Pretty abalone inlays. The neck is thin. Double cutaway made it slightly neck heavy. Pretty guitar.
Dean Furukawa hey, it’s not 24 frets, rather it’s a 22 fret guitar. In my opinion it’s a Les Paul killer. I have a les Paul and yet prefer this. The neck isn’t thin either, rather somewhere in the middle. I really like the neck. Maybe you’re trying a different guitar? One of the old versions of this? This one is a reissue. Cheers
@@NickGranville I had one when they first came out. It was easier to access the upper notes with the double cutaway than a Les Paul. The neck pickup was not as deep sounding as a Les Paul. It was pretty, the neck was fine, I don't think it had single coil switches then. It was a long time ago. You have a nice guitar. Thanks for posting your review.
Hey nick, Great review and great playing. I just ordered one of these and am excited about the versatility of tones. How did you get that sweet Gilmore tone? I.e. what settings. Thanks!
EJ Borselle oh man, that’s great. I’m sure you’ll love the guitar - it’s a bargain. In terms of the settings, to be honest, I can’t remember. I made this video in 2014! I think it was just an amp and a touch of overdrive. Probably an Ibanez Tubescreamer or similar type lower gain pedal.
I see you have the JSM100 in the back standing as well. So one question: are the neck on the JSM100 and the neck on the AR420 built with the same dimensions? I own a JSM100 and really like the "large neck " compered to 7ender .... Greetings from South-Germany
12matze Greetings from NZ. The AR420 has a slightly thinner neck. Only slightly... it's nothing like the pointing headstock guitars...and the frets are smaller and the radius is different. the JSM100 has a compound radius, which I love. So, they feel a bit different. Not worlds apart though so it's an easy transition between the two. Both great guitars. The AR420 has more sustain and is a really great rock guitar.
Tuning seems good on my guitar. Often the issues with G&B strings are to do with the nut not being cut properly or changing to a heavier gauge string etc. any good tech can sort this in no time. The action was low when it arrived, played like butter. I raised it up and put on heavier strings to suit my style
Hi, Nick. I've just bought an AR420 and I'm delighted with it. Do you know which combination of the tri switches and the pick ups will get closest to a P90 sound? Thanks.
Nice! The tri swirl basically gets you humbuckers when not in use and a single coil sound and also a slightly bigger sounding single coil sound (series I think) so maybe that’s the one you’re looking for? Maybe if you need humbuckers, singles and P90’s check out Seymour Duncan’s P rails
Wow - Looks like you were very lucky with you example it looks beautifully book-matched ! I also have a AR420 and love it !. A bit nose heavy while standing though but hey !.
Hey. Thanks, It's a nice looking instrument. Years ago I played one of the original versions of this guitar and it was super heavy. So I guess thats the way it goes, lighter body means the neck is now heavier. I'm glad they reduced the weight, I can't handle heavy guitars anymore (like Les Pauls). The way to fix this is to use a strap with suede backing. Thanks for listening. Remember to subscribe to my channel. More videos to come soon. Cheers
Nick Granville The neck of a guitar will never be heavier than the body, neither will it be long enough to affect the balance. Neck-dive is always caused by shitty placement of strap buttons.
Not necessarily. On a guitar like this that really is the only place for a strap button in the conventional place. I moved my strap bottom to behind the guitar next to the neck - like on a 335. I like it a lot. Try it, works well... and when I change to my Sco I get the same feel give or take body size;
Guitar arrived! and Very please with the amazing sounds this thing can produce! Only issue on my guitar were quite a view cosmetic issues./...seems to have had zero quality control... Other than that....all fine! I should have ordered from Andertons instead of GAK is seems"
Thanks Marcos! Glad it’s sounding amazing. Maybe follow up with them about the cosmetic issues if it bothers you? For me, I end up marking guitars easily enough that it wouldn’t bother me, but still, you’d expect better than that. Good luck
+GIRAUDON Philippe thanks! None of the tunes have names. They're just improvisations that I did in the style of so great musicians with icon tones. Cheers
+sietemaeres62 Thanks! I'm sure you'll enjoy this guitar. Here a link to another video showing the mods I did to my guitar. I pretty much modify all my guitars, even the vintage ones. They are tools as far as I'm concerned. Cheers ruclips.net/video/7PljfMtk-2g/видео.html
Nick, I was wondering. In each of those examples, you talk about neck vs. bridge pickup. Any insight as to how those two small switches are set in each case? I have one of these guitars (based largely on your review) and i get good sound. But now that I'm revisiting, just wondering. Can't see clearly in the video how they're set. Thanks.
+Jim Stewart on man, I have no idea now. Made this video sometime ago. I can say I pretty much stick to the full humbuckers unless I'm after a rock crunch sound then I use bridge pickup in single coil (or parallel if it's noisy) and for funky clean I use the single coil. For most else it's full humbuckers.
Thanks for the nice demo! Just really curious about the jazz sound. I recently bought a AR420-TBG, but had trouble getting the same warm tones as in your video. The sound is closer to vintage style blues but not as mellow as in Jazz. Just wonder whether other parameters like volume and tone should be adjusted accordingly.
Thanks! The amp makes a big difference. If you have a bright sounding amp then getting a jazz tone will be difficult. Try different combinations to get the sound you want. Or try adjusting what you have - Eg turn down the treble if needed etc. Good luck
Actually, just found out that if connecting the guitar directly to laptop using an audio-interface, bypassing the amp, I got exactly the tone I want. This is too convenient!
Frank Arvan nice! I haven’t tried an AM153, but I’m sure they’re good. I have no idea what the exact weight of the guitar is, but I can say it’s much lighter than the 70’s models it’s based on.
Hi Nick, enjoyed the review, helped convince me to buy the guitar as it seems to be a great all rounder. What changes are you playing in that chord melody bit? :)
+bendugard I honestly can't remember which changes, I'll have to go watch the video again to find out. Seems like ages ago I made this video. Will check it out and get back to you when I get a minute. Cheers
have had mine for about a year. Neck was always super comfortable but I was disappointed with the tone. I put some thomastik power brights, size 12. That seemed to do the trick making it a nice guitar for rhythm and power chords. It also takes a while to figure out how to use the tri sound system and tone controls with an amp and effects. The options are pretty endless.
John Brost I had the same thing. The guitar came with 9's gauge strings, which most guitars do. I found the tone thin, so changed to what I usually use 11-49 Elixirs. That did the trick. I love the tone of this guitar, especially into a fender amp. It seems to be getting better with time too (or maybe thats my imagination!). I love the tri sound switch. That is the biggest selling point for me, and the feel of the neck.
Yamaha puts their SBGs through some sort of space age proprietary process wherein their claim that the constituent pieces of the guitar meld that much faster so the whole is greater than the sum of the parts right out of the box....so to speak....a long way of saying that there may be something to these guitars actually seasoning over time
I'm not sure that would make much difference. For me, guitars need tone played. there is no other way to break them in. Also wood etc ages over time, and often improves. I think all of this combined is the reason vintage guitars are so loved. I'm really glad Ibanez reissued this guitar. They were great back in the day. The one difference between the reissue and the old ones is the weight - reissue is way lighter. I'm glad about this when i have long gigs. :)
I'm considering one of these guitars, and am a HUGE fan of their Artist series, HOWEVER... when I played one at Guitar Center, it was thin-sounding, and the tone pots were about to fall out of the body (?!). I mean, I am reasonable enough to know a Chinese-made guitar would never be as good as the "good stuff" made in Japan from the '70s, but the difference was pretty huge. Please, anyone feel free to weigh in on this and give me your honest opinion. I WANT to love this guitar, but the first impression wasn't a great blind date lol :)
Have you ever played a guitar at GC that was set up right ? How can you hear what it sounds like through all the other racket? Do you know how to work the tri sound switches? Using single coil on the bridge can sound super thin.
@Nick Granville Could you please comment on what the neck feels like on this one? I'm trying to choose between this & the PRS SE245 Standard. I had an Ibanez GIO GAX30 & didn't really like the thin neck much. Is it thicker in comparison? Greatly appreciate your inputs. Thank you!
Yes, the neck is comfortable. It’s not a thin neck at all. Rather somewhere in the middle. It’s not 50’s Gibson and not thin, rather comfortable I think. It’s my preferred neck size and shape
@@NickGranville Thanks a million, Nick. You're very kind for taking the time to respond to so many questions from RUclipsrs. It really helps! Fantastic playing as well. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

rbauer1632 it’s a touch neck heavy but nothing a strap can’t fix. Also the only way to make it more balanced would be to make the guitar body heavier and I’d much rather have a lighter guitar - my back can’t take heavy les Paul’s these days

definitely prefer the switchs to the push pull knobs for coil tapping it just looks, feels and (probably from a wiring standpoint) makes more sense

Thanks Norbert! Greetings from Wellington, New Zealand 🇳🇿
If only all guitar review were like this
Thanks so much.
Hi Nick, the video is great, the guitar is great. I love your demo, I wish I knew so many jazz chords as you! My 20 y.o son visited Wellington last summer on his own, I wish I could also do it one day and meet you there! Cheers from France, Olivier
Thank Olivier. Hope to see you in NZ or I hope to make it there one day. Cheers
Wide range of playing Nick. Very good Jazz feel.
Thanks!
I choose to use their guitars cause they work great for what I do eg lots of types of music.
great demo man. i wish all demos were like this.
KyleCarrington Thanks for this. I plan to do more demos this year so appreciate you kind words. Cheers
I'm falling in love with this guitar, i want one
Awesome video Nick! getting one of these tomorrow! greetings from Auckland
+Jarred Chapman Great news. Be sure to let them know that you saw this video, that way they know and it might help with getting to make more of these videos. Cheers
Thanks for this video :) you made up my mind! I saw this guitar in the music store today and I fell in love.
Shelleygoldylocks Glad to hear it. You won't regret it. Great guitar for very little money. Enjoy. :)
These are incredible guitars and my second favorite guitars ever made!!!
They’re superb. I really dig mine. What’s your number 1?
I agree. My #1 fave was always the Yamaha SG, but, truth be told, I might actually like this better. Not as heavy, coil-tapping, and otherwise very comparable!
Bro, that rock ballad lead was tasty as Hell! I'm sold on this ax. Thanks for the video!
Cheers man! Appreciate it
Awesome demo, sounds great!
Thanks!
I've now had this guitar for a month and have to say it is sounding better. I always find new guitars take a while to break in. I think it's only going to get better. This demo was done when the guitar was brand new.
May be your hands become more used to the neck time after time too...no ?
Many txs for your great demo and wonderful playing. Saludos desde Argentina.
Diego Luzuriaga thanks man, appreciate it. Greetings from London, England.
Bought this a few ago and love it. Now , I had an early 80's Ibanez Artist EQ1000 and , if I remember correctly the body was much thicker and heavier on the early 80's Artist models
I'd also like to add I LOVE the neck on this model. It's VERY smooth and fast
Johnny Dollar Me too. I love the neck. I don't like thin neck guitars, this neck is perfect in my hand. I have played the 70's models and they all are very heavy and don't resonate like these guitars. It's a big improvement in my opinion. Cheers
Man thats a beautiful guitar
Thanks!
I've made the decision to buy this guitar based on your video, I just needed this little push... :))) Thank you!
That great man. I’m sure you’ll like it. Enjoy
EJ Borselle Cool. Yeah, I have s USA les Paul, but it sits in the wardrobe cause I prefer the AR420. It’s more versatile and the neck is great
Thanks Nick I truly enjoyed this. so helpful. I think I ll go for one of these now thanks to you. And hey..you sure play great man. Love your feel and phrasing. love from UK
MIKE GEE GUITARMAN cheers man, appreciate your comment. Hope you’re well and staying safe in the UK. Cheers
Thanks. I haven't tried a 720. I'll check it out. Cheers
Underated guitar, tried one last saturday. Just great ! Mind you, I have a PRS CE hanging at home.
Very underrated! Esp for the money
Top demo Nick. Good use of backing sounds to give the guitar tones context.
Graeme Allen Thanks!
I have one of those guitars. They’re amazing
Nice! Thanks for tuning in to my video
Great rhythm man !! Then the lovely solo...I love it !!
Pari Mukherjee thanks so much
great guitar playing playing same riff with different guitar setting to see different guitar sounds would of been.nice
Thanks
Great review, very nice sound examples! Love the guitar already!
coldwar1977 thanks Man!
Really beautiful guitar! Thank you for the demo Nick!!
I have an '83. It's my number 1 guitar. It's heavy, but wow, it's fantastic!
Nice stuff Ben Mayn. Sounds like a great collection. Enjoy.
may have to buy this guitar😊
Great demo from a real player, thanks!
Cajundaddydave cheers!
Really thinking about getting the Ibanez AR420-TBG.
Nice
love this demo - it is such a versatile guitar and it just looks amazing
Nightingale1887 thanks. Yep, very versatile instrument. Cheers
Nick Granville How's the thickness & weight
compared to a LP standard?
Nightingale1887 It's a little thinner than a LP and way lighter than an LP so in my opinion more comfortable. I have a LP that sits under my bed, I prefer this guitar desite it costing 1/3 of the price. Cheers
Nick Granville Thanks! Gonna get me one. The AR420 or the AR620, which has the ebony board with tree of life inlay. Choices!
Nightingale1887 Great! :)
Nice! Kind of reminds me of the Yamaha SG without the huge price tag
Agree, it definitely has a similar vibe to the Yamaha and much much cheaper
Not as heavy as the Yamaha, otherwise it satisfies the Yamaha SG appetite
one of the better demos im going to pick one of these up soon!
Thanks, I think you'll like the guitar... and for that amount of money you can't go wrong.
Nick Granville yes i believe you are right, from seeing the guitar on the net and reading the specs i thought it would sound good but its always good to see a really good demo, love the gilmour style playing and tone also thats worth a subscribe from me
djdt77 Thanks. Glad you like that stuff. Cheers
Nice review ...nice guitar nice playing thanks Nick
Robin Marwick cheers
Did you noticed that this guitar sound better with a particular kind of amp ?
Great guitar, great demo: thanks!
Cheers Maverick3552
Cheers
All of the Ibanez AR series are 22 frets. I have an AR250, neck is much thicker than my Strat / Tele, way closer to an SG or LP.
Lynx Vanasse thanks
@@NickGranville I had one when they first came out. It was easier to access the upper notes with the double cutaway than a Les Paul. The neck pickup was not as deep sounding as a Les Paul. It was pretty, the neck was fine, I don't think it had single coil switches then. It was a long time ago. You have a nice guitar. Thanks for posting your review.
Incredible playing! Do you know if these pickups are the older super 58 or the newer super 58 customs? Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure, but I’d thin think the newer ones, it’s not an old guitar.I know they’re super 58’s and sound great.
Thanks for watching!
got to love the Kiwis as well you have to get to know a bud on the north Island near Auckland Sam Bartells talented song writer guys going places
Randall Paul thanks man. I’m very proud of being a kiwi
Lived there for 4 years
Great playing sir I enjoyed
+samuel4678 thanks man! Appreciate it
Thank U Nick, Great Review!!!
Jesse Enriquez thanks!
Nice range of tones - really liking the Gilmour one!
Thanks! I love Glimours tones that he gets. Killer. A big influence on me.
Top review n sound n play! 👍
RV EUROPE ON TOUR cheers, thanks so much
Hey nick, Great review and great playing.
Yeah but how is the action and does the g and b string stay in tune after stretching them for solos?
Tuning seems good on my guitar. Often the issues with G&B strings are to do with the nut not being cut properly or changing to a heavier gauge string etc. any good tech can sort this in no time. The action was low when it arrived, played like butter. I raised it up and put on heavier strings to suit my style
Great video, great playing, and a handsome guitar :-)
+Mark L thanks! it's a beauty eh! Cheers
Great Demo Cheers !
Chrisandra VOX Thanks!
I have a AR 200,1979,never ever sell it,love it.
Daniel van Horn they sure are great guitar.
That's why I can't find one new or used
Great musician, congratulations...
+Márcio Callegaro Thank-you, very kind of you to say. Cheers
Awesome stuff brother!
Thanks!
New video demo of my Ibanez Artist AR420 electric guitar.
Not necessarily. On a guitar like this that really is the only place for a strap button in the conventional place. I moved my strap bottom to behind the guitar next to the neck - like on a 335. I like it a lot. Try it, works well... and when I change to my Sco I get the same feel give or take body size;
Hi Nick! Awesome playing and Sound!!! Which Kind of pick do you use? Dunlop Jazz3?
Horst Lippitsch thanks man. I used jazz 3’s for a long time but these days I use my own picks which are similar to Dunlop 1mm’s
At 3:25 whats the song?
Just a chord progression / track I came up with and improvised the melody on the recording. Thanks for listening.
Please make a song out of it😍😍
cool demo bro
Thanks man! Appreciate it
Guitar arrived! and Very please with the amazing sounds this thing can produce!
Good luck
very good démonstration.
What 's the tittle of david gilmour in the vidéo
+GIRAUDON Philippe thanks! None of the tunes have names. They're just improvisations that I did in the style of so great musicians with icon tones. Cheers
Great review! Liked the rock examples most.
+sleepy4x Thanks! :)
Just wonderfull !! U convince to me, thank's a lot !
+sietemaeres62 Thanks! I'm sure you'll enjoy this guitar. Here a link to another video showing the mods I did to my guitar. I pretty much modify all my guitars, even the vintage ones. They are tools as far as I'm concerned. Cheers
ruclips.net/video/7PljfMtk-2g/видео.html
Great, thanks.
What song was the rock ballad (satch) sounds amazing
Thanks. It was just one I made up for this video (I think, I’ll have to go check, it’s been a while).
Good luck
@@NickGranville Thanks a lot!
Actually, just found out that if connecting the guitar directly to laptop using an audio-interface, bypassing the amp, I got exactly the tone I want. This is too convenient!
Sweet. Very nice, indeed.
bullitt foruu thanks! It’s a great instrument - especially for the amount of money it costs
Nick: Great Demo. I just bought an AM153 and this looks very similar. I love the 153. What is the exact weight of the 420 please. Thanks much.
Cheers
A real pro guitar player and an excellent review!
Thanks so much.
@@NickGranville i bought the guitar by the way! :)
have had mine for about a year.
Cheers!
Sameer Kulkarni thanks man. I always try to get back to everyone. Glad it’s helpful. Cheers
Nice range of tones from this guitar. Is the AR520 semi hollow worth the extra price of this guitar?
Thanks! I haven’t tried an Ar520 so wouldn’t know. Generally speaking I prefer semi-hollow guitars. They’re usually more resonant and much nicer to use unplugged - which I do a lot to practise or when touring aka waiting at airports etc
best Review ever...if only all Reviews in the world were like this, nicely done mate! i am between this and a PRS SE 24...any thoughts? cheers!
+Pe Peroni Thanks so much. I like PRS guitars. I own a custom 22 but I hardly ever use it these days. This guitar, the AR420 is my number one. I use it on 90% of my gigs. It does it all and does it well - and is not expensive. Cheers
+Nick Granville Here's a video from years ago with my PRS. ruclips.net/video/xYgShbUT0A0/видео.html
nice!
Pe Peroni Thanks
Andy Partridge played one in XTC from the late 70s after he gave up with Gibson and he made it sound great!
Nice!
How would you describe the neck? Chunky? Thin? Or whatever.
I’d describe the neck as in the middle. Not big like a ‘59 Les Paul size and not thin like a Ibanez S serious or RG. I find if very comfortable.
Excellent 👏🏻
Thanks
How well balanced is it sitting? I love my Les Paul, but I hate it's balance. Looking for a lap friendly guitar.
rbauer1632 it’s a touch neck heavy but nothing a strap can’t fix. Also the only way to make it more balanced would be to make the guitar body heavier and I’d much rather have a lighter guitar - my back can’t take heavy les Paul’s these days
