      @@thememe986 you think the magma cannons should be left as they are? They two shot elite infantry and I've seen them do 1/2-2/3 hp damage to heavy cav in a single shot. • @rman88
    @rman88 Год назад +7

    I think the dread quake needs more chevrons. the accuracy is just too bad to for its damage output. if anything it needs to be maxed out. as that 27 accuracy would turn a weapon who has what. 50...40.. 30? chance to hit into one that will hit most of the time. as 1 good shot into the core of a unit. will reduce it by half or more. Granted you really don't need to hit directly. You just need to be close enough.

    Tow the Dreadquake with the Skullcracker if you want to bring it I'm thinking. Way better as speed and can bulldoze through melee as it shoots. Definitely a pricey centre piece though and think it's only really for less sweaty matches or for catching opponents by surprise occasionally, not gonna make it to the competitive meta I don't think, but the pricey cool things never do really.

  • @Insandom
    @Insandom Год назад +2

    Maybe units of Fireglaives instead of Dreadquake. They'd make great backline protectors letting you use the cheaper, swarmier parts of the roster to clog up enemy gunlines/backlines/frontlines. You know, all the parts where it involves them dying for the greater cause. Ash Storm could be good too, absolute synergy for setting up a killing field for your artillery/guns. If you have a unit applying flammable on top of it, the damage amplification ramps up hard.

So much of their artillery and machines being janky is super disappointing and the Lore of Hashut is a pretty significant let down as well. • @ktvindicare

    The problem I see with the Dreadquake Mortar is that it's redundant in an army roster that has many tools for wasting infantry. All of their artillery is good vs infantry, and the mortars are more expensive, and less accurate, it just makes them very niche.
    That's just not a good combo in Warhammer multiplayer, if you're going to be niche you gotta be cheap or you won't see a lot of play.

    Maybe this singles me out instantly as a normal/normal SP player, but I'd honestly really like to see more mechanics like the deathquake mortar shooting of its own free will (if that is actually an intended mechanic). We already have rampage, which isn't nearly as bad as it was in WH2 imo, and previous total war games have had traits like unruly, or may charge without orders, where a unit told to attack will simply charge the first thing it comes into contact with, like the control group attack orders in modern TW games.
    You could equally have things like enforced skirmish mode for cowardly units, or being stubborn to move from a braced position. The idea is to make leading almost as much a part as tactics. Your Orc Boar Boys might tear off and side charge a spearman while trying to slip through a gap in the lines, where a trained Reiksguard wouldn't. Gnoblars aren't going to get near say, large entities unless given a specific attack order. Perhaps Slaanesh units don't always obey guard mode, and like to chase off routing units even when not ordered.
    Now I realise this would require an engine, or at least AI redesign, complete rebalancing (dwarfs not charging from their artillery box is not nearly as dangerous as rampage or being in skirmish mode), and would objectively make the game more based on RNG, but I've always liked the idea of total war games being half tactics and half actual leadership. having to deal with your armies flaws and niches in commanding them as well as just simple obtaining preferable engagements.
    I feel like it would be an idea if CA goes away from the health > model engine we've seen in three kingdoms, warhammer and troy, and back to model counts being a units health and less focus on competitive stat balancing and single entities.

    • @ElSayyidCampeador
      @ElSayyidCampeador Год назад

      I'm not saying any of this is particularly likely as something CA will lean into, but most of your examples would absolutely not need engine redesigns, I suspect it's more a case of game design, having units sometimes tell the player "f u I'ma do wot I want" just might be a tough sell to CA designers worried about taking away player agency.
      I think it would be really cool though personally

    • @logan3770
      @logan3770 Год назад +1

      I get what you're going for, but for me in campaign, Rampage is already a dealbreaker trait on units that typically means I won't recruit them, and obviously skirmish mode is just terrible on everything but archer cav. Changes like the ones you describe would be incredibly frustrating I think, especially when trying to pull off big cheesey underdog heroic victories.

    • @MemekingJag
      @MemekingJag Год назад +1

      @@logan3770 definitely, and it would probably reduce the micro skill ceiling for the game, although you could say it would increase the ceiling for game knowledge.
      For me personally, I would offer it as a togglable option at campaign start. Even though i've played TW since Rome, I've never liked their method of difficulty scaling. I like to know my opponent has the same tools as me, and having just higher stats arbitrarily, or dodging artillery with precognitive abilities isn't a challenge to overcome, it just limits what playstyles are viable.
      I want a total war experience where a challenging campaign isn't overcome by cheesing or recruiting the most cost efficient unit at the time, but by realising your factions strengths and weaknesses in leading them as well as fielding them.
      Definitely not something for W:TW, but I'd love to see it in something like a pike-and-shot era TW, or even another fantasy title.

    Shameful display from the dreaded dreadquake. Epic hats all around though.

    Quick comparison here:
    Karl on mighty deathclaw (supposedly a duelist character):
    100 armor
    5836 hp
    56 attack
    38 defence
    490 ws
    90 charge
    Drazhoath on a flying bull ffs:
    80 armor (20 less)
    8664 hp (2828 more!)
    64 attack (8 more)
    46 defence (8 more)
    565 ws (75 more!)
    80 charge (10 less)
    + he's a caster
    Get lost CA..
    even if we assume he's priced accordingly that is still some premium bs balancing here
    that's just 1 example out of many

    Chorfs don't win by outplaying you, they wins by outpicking you.
    That's not good.

    Makes me kinda sad that the thing Chorfs are known for, is not very viable lmao. I don't know anything about Chorfs, except their blunderbusses and Dreadquakes.

    After 8 months of radio silence and seeing bugs with the dreadquakes unit card and having it shoot randomly REALLY hurts. Hopefully it's patched by release but knowing CA, probably not.
