It is impossible to overestimate the importance of radio to country stardom. It can be argued that Williams was at his best in front of a radio microphone.
Wow, just when I thought I had heard all of Hanks songs something else comes up. When I get to heaven I want to share some biscuits, and songs with Hank. I know he is there!
Absolutely, totally amazing!! And this and lots of other Hank Mother's Best acetates was supposedly found at the bottom of a dumpster, close to be thrown away!! Lord...
thank you so much for this treasure, Hank Williams will always be #1.please post more The Good Lord let me live 66 years and Hank has been in my heart since the first time i heard him. Sure wish i could have been one of His best friend.
"Sam, get the hair out of eyes so he can see where he's going. We don't want no major calamity here this morning." I don't know why I found that so funny, but I laughed my ass off
The show was broadcast on Nashville's WSM every morning from 7:15 to 7:30, in late 1950-51. Williams enjoyed it, and even wrote a jingle for the product (heard here). The show was recorded, so transcribed episodes could be aired when Hank was on the road, maintaining his grueling, destructive tour schedule. And, when he was unable to perform (Williams was a horrible, self-destructive alcoholic), recorded episodes could be aired. These broadcasts were about to be thrown out; fortunately, they were preserved.
Carl Smith was June Carter's first husband. Hank was stuck on the youngest Carter sister, Anita, but wore out his welcome with the family due to his violent, drunken, erratic behavior.
I am not really a country music fan, but I love this "old timey" music. It seems pure and honest, not commercial like modern music.
My God what a voice and what a song .he was surely missed .

Funny, Nashville must know that everything that Hank did is better than anything that Nashville does today.

Hank could get the show in before he got drunk for the day; the early time slot suited him.
No need to say that, you already said the shows were pre-recorded.
