both cave levels today had really effective and neat palettes. it's fun to see the original smw graphics being elevated strictly through colour choices

"sweat rich" is a spoonerism for "ret switch"
youre telling me a fish fried

"And thus Spike was finally forced to atone for the many crimes he had committed." What? The man was in prison.
Mario's here going on bloodlust-fueled vigilante missions to break people out of jail and then hunt them down, all because the Mushroom Kingdom doesn't enact the death penalty enough to his liking.
Mario is an unrepentant murderer and Luigi is a treacherous coward. Never meet your heroes.
Mario was trying to break him out. He didn't realize there was lava.
SMW mario is bloodthirsty in the canon
Honestly I knew that sentence didn't totally make sense but I couldn't think of a better way to word it :V
(The "lore" of the level turned out a lot darker than I intended tbh, in large part because of the post-castle message that I didn't write myself)
Oh boy, a mushroom reward that totally won't be filtered in the next level!
"Woo hoo! Just what I needed!" ~ Mario "Super Mario Bros." Mario
Hearing Lava Reef music always puts me in a better mood.
What a spoonful episode! So many hot flaming levels today.
Remember that the blue switch palace was actually named BLUESWITCHPALACE, which could also be read as: Blues Witch Palace, and there was a witch playing blues there. You should look out for further puns in the switch palace names is what I'm saying.
I guess sweat resulting from both heat and stress would be a rich mixture of sweat chemicals?
King Charles.... There's a name I haven't heard in a while
You're telling me a human being can survive in a stifling heat-filled environment without the assistance of more than a yellow piece of fabric and some fungi? That's just Nonsense!
i looove palletes and color and shit like that
"Pop Up At The Top" sounds like the name of the hit Eisai Haramasukoi prom dance party song.
sweating richly in the switchly red palace?
also sweet I guess!
One of my unproudest levels in this hack out of the way! Hooray!
I'm glad it energized you and filled you with spoons!
it's a pretty solid and thematic little level. I also didn't understand the spoonerism until now.
I was really hoping that the Prisoner was Yoshi.
And once you rescue him, you can bring him to other levels.
Kind of like in Super Mario Infinity 2.
MINT TABLELANDS SPICY COURSE 2 [ 4 | DC4 ]:
What is a typical smwc level name? Since almost every hacks come from here?
That parakoopas and extendable platforms section was embarassing...
Fish Fry [ 3 | DC3 ]:
🐟🌋
Sweat Rich [ 4 ]:
This level uses too many sprite memory!
But still a fun level!
Sub Rosa Prison [ _five_ | 5 | DC5 ]:
Back to the daredevil level (it never ends!)!
That chuck has a spiky helmet, you can spin on it!
Tomorrow, maybe something about food, maybe an updated level, or both?
sweat rich palace

BTW, when you get to Hard Relay Mario in the Star World in the future, take note that you're allowed to bring in outside power ups, so consider doing that if you feel the need.
Death count: 367 (12 today)
Goal tape average: 737 / 32 = 23.03125 (53 / 3 = 17.667 today)
(0:21) Nice, 19 more lives. Yeah, if you're not already near the cap, you should stop by here at the start of each new playing session.
(2:01) Oh, shoot. You're dead. First death today.
(2:57) Don't worry. You're not missing much. That ? block only contains a mushroom, even if you hit it while big (I guess it acts like a yellow ! block).
(3:28) Not nearly enough "ERGH" with that jump. I bet the way you jumped there would have actually gotten you up the necessary 5 tiles if this is SMBX. Darn SMBX's different jump height rules...
(4:00) It's a 5-tile jump, so a running jump will work if you time it right and don't bonk the upper one while they're horizontal.
(4:23) You didn't have enough running momentum once again. Admittedly, they were probably out if sync in just about the worst possible way for you there.
(4:37) Bonk. Wow, you are having way more difficulty with these turn block bridges than I could've imagined.
(4:41) Too bad this camera system isn't well made. :P
(4:56) Yeah, seriously. You suffered 6 deaths to this simple-looking setup.
(5:21) Those Yoshi coins keep promoting your death, but only until you've nabbed them once each.
(5:30) Pfft, the turn block bridges really are out to get you apparently.
(6:22) D'oh, failed at riding the boomerang when it really mattered.
(6:33) Ooh, nice! Got the Yoshi coin with the "backdoor" method using that Parakoopa!
(7:10) 🐟🍟
(7:17) Old SMBX crashed. :P
(7:45) 🪶
(8:04) There's another ? block that acts like a yellow ! block.
(8:49) RIP reserve feather.
(10:05) Welp, that fish got fried.
(10:17) I take it the double sprite glitch has been fixed in this hack?
(10:35) This level is nice with its feather generosity.
(11:12) MISS!
(11:26) found the big red button level.
(12:03) Looks like a couple of flame pillars failed to spawn in that opening below.
(12:16) Toasty!
(12:50) Yeah, we're running into the sprite limit here.
(13:53) Psyche!
(14:23) !ush! LOL, yeah, gotta plan around those switch alace graphic hings. :P
(14:49) What are you, Mega Alakazam?
(16:31) Chipmunk time.
(16:59) Hey there, King Charles wannabe. How's it going?
(18:04) Samual "Spike" Chuck received an unsatisfactory mark on his official testing record, followed by death. :P
(19:33) I vote for that castle to the west there.
5:30
LOL.
10:17
Seems so. Someone confirmed it.
Is... Is that Trogdor, or am I crazy?
Edit: Okjay pretty sure I'm crazy.
aiai laahhh
I thought Sub Rosa Prison was the level were Peach did it with a candle ghost
ETC
10:18 no double sprite glitch?
Has been fixed! (As in most hacks these days)

i do feel that have the dragon coins only set by checkpoint, goal or getting 5 is better
Only if you're a raocow-level player. Most people aren't raocow-level players. I would hate to have to get them every time, because I'm not that good.
@@DoctorNovakaineIt’s a case by case thing.
In levels where getting a dragon coin _and then getting out of a situation_ are clearly both part of the design, having the coin stay collected just encourages degenerate gameplay where you can suicide into every coin with no repercussions.
@@StripeyShima I mean, death IS a repercussion. It's a cost of time and energy.
But realistically, in most cases, if you make the dragon coins too onerous to get, people will simply choose to not get them rather than frustrate themselves trying to collect them each time. Especially when the levels are as hard as they are already. In both cases, people are bypassing that part of the challenge - the difference is that in the first one they get the reward of making the effort, whereas in the second they don't.
@@DoctorNovakaine Death _and_ losing the Dragon Coin should be a repercussion if the "puzzle" of getting the Dragon Coin is clearly getting to it _and away from it_ safely.
I said case by case because in some levels raocow has played the coins were simply along the way, and losing those to death is pointless.
