Hey I’m kinda where you are. Not as severe but the pain I’m feeling in my left knee is in the same area. I’m flat footed and prone to it and just learned this recently so I’ve been looking up videos to avoid getting injured. Have you found any exercises particularly helpful? How’s your knee and tibia now?
In Summer League Kuminga would have some really awkward one-legged landings after dunks or lays, so it's clutch that Boss dropped a vid about landing properly haha
Back in my day we didn't need a RUclips video to jump off our roofs, we just needed a friend with a camera to tape it. CKY and Jackass were a hell of a drug.
Thank you for your vidéo. I have two questions. 1) I noticed that I am always landing either flat foot or on my heel. It is also thé case when I do squat jump. However it does not Hurt at all my knees. Why ? 2) You said that tendons do not get much blood (less vascularisation). Therefore if we get some tendons issues (mine was goose foot inflamation) does it mean that it will heal in longer time ? Thank you in avance for your answer.
As someone still (>1 year post op!) recovering from ACL reconstruction due to an improper landing, I wish I had practiced these sorts of landings more. Especially the unilateral style ones. Will be a great tool for my recovery.
i will actually bounce quickly up off either once as i touch the ground and sometimes a few quick hops in succession depending. I use forward momentum with minimal contact to EASE the release of force from the body in a controlled manner, but THIS TAKES EXTREMELY QUICK FEET or you will just fall over haha. Also, remember, the higher you jump from, the faster your feet and ankles must be able to react in time. this is similar to how you see someone jump when running from the cops off a 30 foot ledge and keep running after they leap and appear to not have suffered a broken leg lol
Practice, reps. It's like learning any movement mechanic for every sport. Repeat the movement (starting slow) until your mind and body remembers how to do it without focusing on it.
False. Basketball players tend to roll their ankles because they 1. Have weaker ankles or 2. The environment in a game is extremely dynamic and things happen. Landing on the balls of your feet, not your toes is IMPERATIVE for athletes to train as that is the most common way to land in game.
as someone who's currently around 10 weeks post-injury for a tibial tubercle fracture AND patellar tendon tear, this is extremely helpful, thank you.

Great video, like the two before this one, we learn a lot by being shown, and it is explained well, so thank you !

Lol I'm gymnastics it's a deduction to lift the heel. Depending on the judge they might even take .1 for a slight lift of the heel.
good thing gymnastics aint a sport

Squatting sometimes makes it hurt more
good for the knees. bad for the ankles. basketball players tend to roll their ankles when they land on their toes.
