If you print from your phone or iPad, printers sometimes change scaling automatically. In order to check the scaling, you can measure the bottom of the triangle, and it should be 3”. 3” x 8 (8 pieces to complete the hat) =24” is the finished circumference at 100% scale. This pattern does not include ease, meaning if you have 23” head measurement, you should aim for a bigger size, and how much bigger it should be depends on how you want to wear the hat and how thick your outer & lining fabrics are. I thought I mentioned this in the video, but I’m sorry if it wasn’t clear! I’m sure you can just use your own pattern, but I wrote this mostly for other people who need help with similar sizing issues. Thanks for bringing this up!
Sachi, thank you very much for this video. I’m slightly more advanced than a beginner and this video alone has taught me several things. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing you other content. Thank you again.
I made this hat. I should have made it a size smaller but I wanted the tops of my ears to be covered. I love it! I need to finish the band a little differently for the prick stitching showed and I want to add an additional layer to keep it from slipping down. I am going to make a smaller one when I have more wool scraps. this was a great tutorial!
it’s always so exciting for me to hear somebody actually made a hat from my pattern❣️☺️ Thank you so much for watching the video and letting me know how your project went🥰
My mother made me a teddy bear when I was a kid and I remember it to this very day. This is a very useful video. Hopefully I can sew a cap for my son by referring to this.Thank you for putting it out here, for free so that others too can learn and practice. God bless 🙏.
This is excellent, I've been making flat caps for a while as sort of modified berets, but now I have a good frame of reference with your vid here. 10/10 on the topstitch BTW
Thank you for the tutorial! I used the pattern to sew a wario hat for my friend's cosplay! I know it's not the intended use, but it was perfect for the shape I needed!
Many thanks. A clear and concise video. The free pattern was very much appreciated. I have liked and subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to choosing some material now and getting to work.
Thank you for this pattern Sasha. I really love the sound of that 201 Singer you have. I have a few 191J's that are made in Canada, sound the same......sooo nice.
Very nicely done! I'm thinking of attempting a hand sewn version of this using the ' English stitch' which is a way of sewing 4 layers at once while enclosing all the seams. Technically it could turn out to be reversible if it works....
@@SachisStudio there is a You Tuber called V. Birchwood who made a lovely demo video on the technique. Basically you sew 4 folded layers together to incase the raw edges sew 123 and then 432 , 123 ,432 skipping the last layer on each side till you get to the end of the seam.
I didn’t realize you replied with such details till now❤️ I must check out the RUclips channel! Thank you so much for the details❣️ sounds so fascinating ! 😳
you put a strip of felt between the sizing ribbon and the hat for “padding”, it doesn’t make the hat smaller but it makes the hat fit tighter on your head. I’m planning to make a video about this☺️
thank you so much very nice pattern I do a lot of sewing with leather that I donate to various organization for their volunteer but I also look for non leather because some people do no like products made from animal c.noel canada

Printed your pattern out just to check against my own... the sizing is way off

@@SachisStudio you have a 301 as well!!! WOW! Is it the coveted black model?
It’s an all-beige one! I like the soft color and lightness of the machine❣️😊

wow “English stitch” sounds so interesting! I have to research about that ❣️😳

Hello! Thank you so the wonderful tutorial! I made this all the way up to the ribbon. What kind of Ribbon are you using?
I usually use 1- 1.25” wide grosgrain ribbon or petersham ribbon. petersham ribbon is best but grosgrain is fine in my experience !
Thank you for your generous video and pattern. I was wondering what size ribbon you have used? Thank you
I usually use 1” or 1.25” wide grosgrain or petersham ribbons :)
Molto bello grazie
thanks for watching ❣️
Should I use interfacing in the actual body of the hat if I'm using felt fabric? I'm just not sure if it would be too stiff.
If you think it’s going to be too stiff, you can probably skip the interfacing!☺️
Love this. It's so clear. Thank you for sharing. What seam allowance do you use?
Usually 1/2” (1.3cm) !
i Need one cap Same as.
What can you do to make it smaller if it ends up to big after sewing? I dont understand what you mean about putting in felt between the ribbon. ????
you put a strip of felt between the sizing ribbon and the hat for “padding”, it doesn’t make the hat smaller but it makes the hat fit tighter on your head. I’m planning to make a video about this☺️
I just uploaded a video about this. please check it out ! : ruclips.net/video/Zr-Gg5ipAuk/видео.html
thanks ,can you show us how to draft a pattern tutorial
do you absolutely need the grossgain ribbon?
you don’t “absolutely” need it, but it prevents the hat from stretching! it doesn’t have to be grosgrain ribbon, either…
How wide is the grosgrain ribbon you are using for your hat, Thank you.
I think it was 1”(2.54cm) wide ☺️
thank you so much very nice pattern I do a lot of sewing with leather that I donate to various organization for their volunteer but I also look for non leather because some people do no like products made from animal c.noel canada
happy to be a small part of your wonderful cause❣️
is the interfacing necessary to make this hat? i wanna make it with denim
I think it depends on your fabric, and also on the outcome you want :)
@@SachisStudio okayy thank youu , i actually tried it today it turned out well except for the brim 😅😅
glad to hear you tried! ☺️sorry the brim didn’t turn out great… they usually need extra firmness 😅
@@SachisStudio yess!! I'm gonna try putting a wire in it and hope for it to turn out great

How much material should I buy to make this for my 23 inch head?
depends on the fabric width but usually half a yard should is enough☺️
Would this work with eva foam?
I’m not sure, I have not used EVA from for hats..🧐
Do you sell these in Connecticut? Online?
