Thank you John for that great tips on lace. I have got to make 120 lace cake baskets for a friends daughter's wedding. I was going to use Hemmingworth poly thread.
I know how to sew & all but the stabilizer thing is new to me. I’m making a T-shirt quilt & understand that it will stabilize weak T-shirt fabric but what good is it if you wash the fabric & the stabilizer washes away? I don’t get it?!….. finish watching & I got my answer! Thank you
It is after midnight here so I will try this in the morning. Tonight I destroyed two lace bookmarks. Tomorrow dawns anew and I will watch some of your other videos also before I push the button! Thank you for putting this out there.
OMG!!! I can not thank you enough for posting this video on your T-pin technique. I now have absolutely beautiful and per-fect lace bookmarks. I am still shocked at how drum-tight my 1 (one!) layer of stabilizer was at the end of stitching and I did two at one time in a 5x7 hoop. TY and have a great day! Best from northern MN.
I was worried at first I don't like pins in my hoop. So great to see they are placed outside of the hoop and what a great way to keep the tape off the hoop. Taping the stabilizer on the hoop frame is always an extra step to clean the hoop. I never thought of this in years of doing lace. Great tip!
Thanks, happy you enjoyed it. Agreed, using tape can get messy. I do have a great tip for cleaning the gunk from tape off your hoop too... Thanks for reminding me, I'll have to film a video for that one too :)
@@EmbroideryLegacy I use an alcohol wipe for the hoops and machine to remove tape and spray. If I don't have an alcohol wipe I use those cheep makeup sponges come in little squares with alcohol. Can't wait to see what you use.
What a Fabulous Tip John, thank you. Ya know My Viking and my Pfaff come with some hoop clamps for the larger hoops which are supposed to help the stabilizer stay tight also, but I can never get them to stay clamped, they will usually come lose during the stitching process, so the pin idea is awesome and especially because it uses pins I already have. I also appreciated the tip about the polyester thread, now I know why some of my laces have come out loopy and I thought they were a rayon, but now know its probably because they were a polyester.
Hi John Thanks for all your videos and fantastic tips. I would like to ask you which stabiliser is the one you used please …I have the clear water soluble, will be the same ? Thanks a lot :0)
Hi John, I am new to embroidery and having problems doing a left chest embroidery on these new moisture-wicking 100% Poly polo shirts (puckering). Do you have a video on the best way to hoop the shirt so as not to get puckering? Thanks
Thank you for the tips for free standing lace!! I knew about the T pins, but not about using rayon thread!!! Thanks again!!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching and the kind words Debbie :)

I have run my dersign with rayon in the bobbin (I have Marathon) but even with a low speed the bobbin thread tore. I did adjust the tension as ell.
Great video. Where do you get the t pins?and what size?
I have a ricoma em1010 they have round hoops for that machine?
Very interesting - I've done this with regular round headed pins and it did help. I'll have to get some T-pins and see if that works even better!
Nagyszerű ismeret!

Great suggestion. Were can I get a bobbin winder like you showed in this video?
Mary McNevin I ordered mine on Amazon, I think I paid around $40.
What is the name of the stabilizer and company to buy from? Great video!
Sondra Ammons, generally goes under the name “Wet and Gone”, last couple time I purchased was on Amazon.
I don’t know who put
“Wet and Gone” for a name I go by but that’s not funny or true!!
please show me how to do perfect outlines... where it stitch last and it has no jumps or stops
What is hoop burn ?
It is the mark that a hoop can leave behind in sensitive or woven/knitted materials.

Guess what I'm buying tomorrow....T-pins!!!!
Definitely do, Vanessa. Thanks for watching :)
Good point but when you have multi heads machine like 24 -20 heads ,you won’t use this technique.
Thanks, very helpful!
