  • On Saturday 2 July 2022, Bradford Literature Festival hosted the worldwide launch of ‘Exemplars for Our Time’ with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Michael Sugich and Peter Sanders with a capacity audience at St. George's Hall.
Exemplars For Our Time is a collection of short, photographic essays aimed at introducing a new generation of young people to some of the greatest living Muslim sages of the 20th and 21st centuries.
In traditional Islamic societies, living sages are the embodiment of spirituality and enlightenment, serving as inspirational role models for their communities.
However, the rise of extremism and atheism within contemporary Islam is increasingly being attributed to the loss of connection between these paragons of virtue and the everyday Muslim.

Sheikh Hamza powerful word about the sheer presence of the “Mawla” or saints and how you feel the “Noor” light in their faces.
I had the blessing of meeting shaikh Hamza in Abudhabi more than 15 years ago, and I have already seen him in videos , but I will never forget what I felt that day when I have met him face to face and shook his hands
The light I Saw in his face and the incredible sense of peace and comfort was unprecedented . I was in tears just by looking at him.
May allah bless him and all our sheikhs.

We should also honor the life and memory of modern martyrs who fall in the fight against colonization and oppression, such as Omar Mokhtar, and many more in Algeria, Palestine and Egypt, etc. That was the sunnah of the prophet and his sahabaa. I think Sheikh Abu Hamad AlGhazali description of Sufism is the most accurate . He did leave the courts and the royal influence, to study himself and then came back and his writings reflected that it is better to be in the midst of tribulation than to seek isolation from the community .
The Sufi’s of today are afraid to criticise the injustice of these times, they are in favor with the unjust rulers , because they don’t criticise the terrible criminalistic minds and acts of these unjust rulers . Being inside your towers of ideology is not enough to be called exemplars . The Prophet Mohammad PBUH , said to the brother who fasted and prayed that his brother that brought him food and supported him was favoured in the eyes of Allah , then the one who just fasted and read holy scripture .
These are the exemplars that are unnoticed . A wali will never claim to be wali . The followers of the wali are so obedient almost
to the point of blindness . I see the neg of it very clearly . I see we’ll spoken person with good understanding of Islam like Habib Ali AlJaffri go to his teacher who I believe has either become demented prancing around like a child or started believing his own delusional power . These are what I see . The criminal rulers love to invite the Sufi’s . Sufi’s will never criticise China for the crimes against the Uighers ???
A Sufi only helps himself انه مقتصد وليس من السباقون . Their effect is very limited . If Omar AlMukhtar was a Sufi . Italy would have created a great statue for him .
Let us not not raise them beyond your level . The example of Our Dear Beloved Prophet Muhammad , is the true exemplar . Isolation was never his way to purify his heart .
He (PBUH)attended 29 battles and directed his companions to establish justice and to free the Blessed Land of Jerusalem .
There is our future and the future of the last Khilafah . What are these exemplars doing about that ?

Praying 5 times a day is one of the pillar of Islam...something that differentiate the true believer.
Saying we might have devout muslim women that's not wearing a headscarf =/= saying headscarf is not Wajib.
It could be the women were just entering Islam and felt the Hijab were too burdensome in her environment for that moment, but she's planning to cover in the future while doing her best to do obligation like Salah. It could be that they were convinced its not wajib. etc. This is common case for reverts in western countries. We don't know if Allah might please with their effort despite them not covering yet and will make it easy for them to cover in the future.
People are in different stage of life. Some are at point where they can do all obligation and sunnah, while others are only capable doing few obligations for various reasons. I used to be there too out of lack of knowledge.
The ones that only did few obligations might please Allah enough because it's huge struggle for them to even do so, but we don't know that.

my problem is using the term pious , a new convert cant become pious in a short period , the saints shown in the video passed decades to reach a high spiritual level and they follow the sunnah attentively let alone what is WAJIB AND FARD, but somehow a convert who doesnt even follow the obligatory commands of islam can become pious ? and if you say they are not convinced about hijab being fard ,lets assume this person genuinely think its not wajib (Even tho its quite clear after doing a serious research) okay you can say this person is good hearted with good intentions and one day Allah will guide him to become better but DONT USE PIOUS you are disrespecting all the muslims saints by making sainthood this easy.

Yes , because Allah in his book dosent say to pray 5 times a day, if anything it's encouraged to do minimum 2 morning and evening and Qunoot in the late hours ( silence and reflection )
The coming of Islam and the fake imposed salaah , 5 times a day 🤔 not according to Quran
In the year 773 AD Al khayzuran bint Atta the Zoroastrian mother to both Abbasid caliphs
Al Hadidi and Harun Rashid blended 5 zorastrian Namaz rituals in Islam and validated the forgery by forging Hadith about Miraj and creating the 50 rituals a day absurdity!!! Which was then narrowed down to supposed 5
The Persian imams of that time got support from khaizraan who in turn was vehemently helped by Harun Zorastrians viziers the Baramika , she is the one that canonised the NAMAZ , in 153 AH , her main agent was Al imam Khalil ibn Ahmed Tabrezi , the first ever writer of Arabic to Persian dictionary, AL-AI'N , and he translated Quran and spread it to misguide the followers of Quran , since then everybody copy his misleading translation and published with their names , Nobody actually bothered to check the text of Quran and compare it with the conventional translations !!!!!
The following 5 salaah has been taken from Zorastrians , and incorporated into Islam
      1) dawn prayer - Havaan = fajar
      2) noon prayer Raptihwan = zhour
      3) afternoon prayer Uzerian = Asr
      4) Evening prayer , Aiwisuthran = Maghrib
      5) night prayer, Ushaen = Isha
I'm sorry to say brother, majority people follow Persian tafseer of Quran
Salaah is described in Quran , but you have to go back to the original Arabic ( not Persian definition of the words ) then you will know

@@LinaSydney100 yes. They are liars and innovators. You want to know sufism 1 simple search and you'll see them with skirts twirling. Even this video I've seen many red flags like intercession. The biggest sin is to associate partners with Allah. Do these people not know Allah told us to ask him directly and worship him directly. They blind follow anyone with a beard and a hat who says whatever they like to hear. They also hate tawhid and those who call towards it like shaykh Muhammad abdulwahab at Tamimi. May Allah guide them. My advice to you is listen to the actual scholars of the sunnah, shaykh fawzan shaykh muqbil shaykh bin ba, shaykh al bani shaykh uthaymiin shaykh raslan hafidahullah, some one of them passed away Rahimahullah.
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people; rather, He takes away knowledge with the death of the scholars until, when He leaves no scholar behind, the people turn to the ignorant as their leaders. They are asked, so they give religious judgments without knowledge; thus they are led astray and lead others astray.”

Your comment only shows your ignorance and arrogance. Besides giving people the benefit of the doubt and avoiding accusing them without any evidence, just remember what is said for example in Surah "al Furqân":
"And beware of the Day the wrongdoer will bite his nails in regret and say: 'Oh! I wish I had followed the Way along with the Messenger!' Woe to me! I wish I had never taken so-and-so as a close friend. It was he who truly made me stray from the Reminder after it had reached me.' And Satan has always betrayed humanity." (Verses 27-29)
These verses clearly refer to a person who stupidly missed the opportunity of entering Paradise because they refused to follow someone (the Messenger in this case) who can guide them to God and rather followed a person who led them astray. The reverse is absolutely true. If you wish to be on a strong spiritual path, you need to be with good people who can constantly guide you to Allah. Who told you that it's a sign of "clear shirk" that sb asks God to guide them to a person who can guide them to Him? Who the hell told you that? How do you know that the man asking this from Allah has in his intention to "worship" the person he wants to lead him to the Creator?
If you're really muslim, before commenting and telling nonsense about others just keep in mind this authentic hadith of the Prophet (Peace be upon him): ""He who believes in Allah and the Last Day must either speak good or remain silent."
