    I followed this recipe before and my husband loved it! He was so suprised. He grew up in Ghana and I grew up here in Canada and it was my first time making waakye. Im making it again for him tonight as a surprise. I love your video so simple to follow and to the point!

    This is very close to how we Jamaicans cook rice and peas. We use kidney beans for colour we use coconut milk instead of water

    • @Drewrykitchen
      @Drewrykitchen  4 года назад +1

      The Jamaican one is also very tasty! I kindof prefer yours

    My sister usually adds a bit of butter. It gives it a very nice taste and makes the rice less sticky.

    In Ghana, when people prepare Waakye, they put spices in it to give it plenty flavor. Many people who lik Waakye brag about the taste. What spices is it that they typically use? I would love to know!

      You can use a wooden spoon but just that it makes it mushy
