Funny you say about the long Winter. Here in Finland it has been LOOONG!! Started back in Oct and snow on the ground since Nov till a few weeks ago but we have temps of only 16. This time of year it should be 20-23. Something different this year. Just happy that Midsommer will be without snow!

One of your, if not the best video yet Murray. Informative, chatty and honest. You very much expressed all the reasons I choose to hike and camp and the perfect location as well. I don't camp so much in summer due to the heat - love winter, cold and dark nights but, I'm inspired to find a hidden lochan. Thank you for sharing - Jim.
You say Tamatin, I say tomato 🤣. I wish I was there to share a dram with you. It looks spectacular as always and I am now hooked on this channel. It has encouraged me to get back outdoors and hopefully if the weekend allows, into the hills for the night. Please keep the videos coming. THU.
winter coming :) hope you enjoy some of the videos - keeping some good ones for when the days are shortest and nights longs later in the year (a couple of videos over an hour in length so hopefully these provide nice viewing during the long nights :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
I wild camped in the Cairngorms every year for a week or so for ten consecutive years from 1970. Usual destination was initially Derry Lodge being quite accessible from the car park at Linn of Dee and then heading off into the heart of the Cairngorms, an excellent wild camp was at Loch Etchachan which like the one you went to here (by the way you never revealed the name but I'm guessing somewhere near Glen Shee) quite deserted and unbelievably beautiful just under MacDui summit. There's almost nowhere quite as accessible as the Cairngorms if you are prepared to walk, which combines splendid camping sites and if you're lucky amazing weather in May and early June! Incidentally, the walker's bothies were mainly demolished after the tragedy in the Cairngorms I think in winter 1971 when a party of students died on the plateau looking for a refuge, it was concluded that if the refuges were not there people wouldn't risk their lives looking for them! It is almost like taking drugs after a ten hour drive from London to get out into the wild country along the Luibeg Burn towards Derry Lodge and an enjoyable 2 hour walk from the car park!
Thought I’d have a look at some new walks and first on the map I looked at the Jocks Road area, after a wee while I came onto RUclips and the first video to see is this one..
Epic camp spot and post as usual. The comment about leave no trace is very pertinent as during lock down and people only allowed out for exercise the litter increased 100 pc on my local footpaths that were only used by regular dog walkers and there was never any litter.
Thanks Erin , try my best to get some nice shots and the shallow depth of field sometimes works out well :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
I admire your patience and your relaxed way in climbing these hills. I was always impatient at first and dashed round my outings rather than savouring the day. Looking at my log I climbed these hills in summer 93 and yes I missed the remote Lochan you camped at. Really entertaining and the memories just keep flooding back. Thanks once again.
Fine stomping ground that Murray, braw place to pitch. Kev and I just peered down from above when we were last up there. Excellent filming throughout mate. 👌
An absolute belter this one Murray, and what a place to camp. The reward was certainly well worth the effort of getting up and down to the loch, just stunning. Have to say as well, really liking these longer videos. Anyway as always stay safe & ATB.

Murray, I don't normally leave comments but do watch most of your videos. Had to leave one on this one as it was simply superb. Photography was excellent, especially the stuff around the campsite, and it was generally just so beautifully delivered. Superb !! And, thanks for it - keep filming sir !!!
Cracking spot for sure and I had opened OS Mapping after you passed the Cairn of Claise and was thinking, that looks a steep descent - the contour lines were packed tight ! When you awoke to that calm reflection I though wonderful image to get... then thought, the wee beasties will be about, lol. Love the sahllow depth of field filming whilst making your morning cupa Murray, veryt arty 😉 As you was lifting your nackpack on to take that steep coire back up I was thinking that's gonna be a toughie for sure... great effort. atb Al
