This was fantastic! My first vehicle was a little red ‘88 automatic. Never went anywhere in a hurry but always got me where I wanted to go. Like most people here I definitely regret not hanging on to it!
Wow, this is amazing ! You did a REALLY GOOD JOB. I'm really glad I was able to see this despite having to skip over it during class. You should do this on the side!
Great video man. Fantastic content, very interesting. You really did your homework. That was extremely well edited too. I’ve done a lot of editing work and I was very impressed with your sense of timing and when to make cuts and what music to use. You got skills 💪
Third generation 1999 SR5 checking in. 3.4 V6 with rear e-locker. Purchased for $2700 in 2019 with 170K on the odometer. Only issue I’ve had in 4 years was a burnt spark plug. Gave it a lift, Tundra brakes, new radiator and LBJs. Planning on taking this truck with me to the grave and fully confident it’ll last that long. Amazing vehicles.
Awesome vid! I miss my 1st gen so much. What is the track that drops at 4:33, thats realllly good synthwave. Also track ID for the next one. Thanks man! I love all things 80's haha.
We had an auto upholstery shop in Federal way Washington, the dealer for Toyota Tacoma asked if we could build the back extra seat because he was taxed $600.00 to bring them from china, so we located an engineer to weld the seat and we completly recovered door panels, and every seat with velour fabric, they were so happy and sold lot,s of Forerunners and the new vinyl pickup we took straight to the shop and put new velour interiors and tonnau covers on some.Due to Florida fishing shows we decided to move to Naples Florida but did not upholster Trucks.A man came into our shop in Madras Or raving about the value of those trucks, then after questioning him,I told him we were the first to put in the extra seats,I wish we would have saved the brand new vinyle covering that we removed,Piles of them.I have some picturs but no dates.
@MOJAVEDESERT SONORANDESERT Yup exactly. I was under the impression that Jack Safaro, who was running a Toyota dealership in Wisconsin at the time, approached Toyota with the idea. Toyota “approved” the collaboration with Winnebago for the Trekker Prototype. Kinda had to keep the video close to 10 minutes for class lol. Toyota also went to Griffith, who made the Toyota Trailblazer prototype and Just Customs for the Breaker Breaker prototype. I also understood that Safro offered the Trekker SUV conversion as an add on “package” at his dealership. Then they would get sent to Winnebago for the modification, but I think there were Trekkers that were just made separately for sale and export.
@Madmoeljo Ritchie. Yes! They’re actually the same thing. It’s what they’re known as in Japan. The Hilux Surf came with more engine options and trim features, and of course it’s Rhd.

Thanks 👍
Some of my friends say that land rovers came before but from this technically the land cruiser prototype was built in 1942
It was a Car dealership that took some Toyota's to Winnebago not Toyota it's self, then Toyota liked the idea after the fact.

I have a question
is the toyota hilux surf related to the 4runner?
