Fun fact: With this game it marks the second time an actor has played both Superman AND Sephiroth, the first being George Newbern who voiced Superman in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited and voiced Sephiroth in FF7 Advent Children, Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts 2.
Third time actually, the Japanese actor played Superman in the Lego movie! I'm starting to think it's a prerequisite to voicing sephiroth lol

You sort of mentioned it, but Cloud's line delivery to Tifa when she sees the dress is my favorite line in the game. "Nailed it. I know. Moving on." Embarrassed, tired of being catcalled, and proud of himself.
for me, ff7 remake and onwards should be the status quo for remaking old games. honouring the og but mixing it up. not just porting the game with barely any changes or just upgrading graphics
Resident Evil 2 is the best remake of all time.
Keeping the battle system and upgrading the graphics is all I wanted for the remake

One thing I truly love in the Remake, outside of updated graphics, fantastic soundtrack, voice acting and expanded story is that the dialogue never feels forced. No line seems out of place, no banter ever gets tiring or grating. It adds to the immersion greatly.
Also the "Seven seconds till the end" line is likely referring to Aerith's death in the original game. Between the time Sephiroth descends from the ceiling to the sword stabbing her... it takes EXACTLY seven seconds during the FMV
They already confirmed the 7 seconds to the end is about the planet ending.
ok i need to say this. the entire time i played FF7 remake, i kept seeing Biggs as Charlie Sheen from Hot Shots.
Also, i have a theory that the remake is just Sephiroth trying to change the timeline in a way that leads to his win, which gives birth to the Arbiters of Fate.
Ohhh my god! I thought it was just me! But yeah, I totally saw him and all I could think was that movie.
I *adore* Tyler Hoechlin's Sephiroth. He adds the right kind of menace that the character needs.
You should totally do Rebirth! It takes what Remake did to the next level with its open world style. 😁

Yes, please do Rebirth! I enjoy your upbeat look at video games. Most of what pops up on my timeline are hate videos. The ones that annoy me are the ones on games that haven’t even come out yet! 🤦🏿♂️ people forget that art is subjective. Like with the Road to Eldorado. The movie didn’t do well the time it came out, and they had a whole TV show as well as other things planned. But some time later it became a loved movie by many, and most if not all of us wished that we got that TV show. 😩
Of course we want you to win Rebirth and throw the Yuffie DLC as well while you’re at it 😅. Thanks for changing the win count back to its original *ding* sound

Hey man just wanted to jump on here and say I love your content so much. My priorities in life have changed drastically as Ive grown older but I miss being a "hardcore gamer" and these videos give me serenity :)
I so hope you cover FF16 next, I've spent days trying to get a clear idea of my own feelings about it and would love to see yours. Also obviously you have to play rebirth next, it basically takes everything about remake and takes it past 11.

This game got me into this crazy series and made my favorite game of all time and absolutely cannot wait for part 3 to come out. Looking forward to your vid on rebirth!
The ending quote from Aerith is so brilliant. "I miss it. The steel sky." This whole time she and the others have been fighting for their freedom, whether it was from Shinra or from the Whispers. Now, all that they and the audience know and expect from this story is left uncertain. Part of them wants to stay and remain with those they care for and what is familiar, but the world needs them now. They march forward to the future they fought so hard for, facing the "boundless, terrifying freedom" before them.
So they actually rerecorded that last sentence "I miss it. The steel sky" to "This sky… I don't like it" and on the surface this seems like a massive downgrade but its actually because the original localization was messed up and wrong. I don't want to spoil rebirth but it makes sense that the type of sky she is referring to isn't too specific, but still that she is referring to a specific sky.
I know that's kinda convoluted but its important.

Was wondering if you’d done this one the other day! I finished Rebirth a couple weeks ago and it’s lived rent free in my mind since then so I went back and played the OG again, after 5 years, and am currently playing Remake again! I’m really enjoying the ride!

The way I see it. The whole 7 seconds to the end thing. Is referring to one of two thing, either A. It's referring to years instead of seconds as we don't know what that place was they were in really was or B. It's referring to sephiroth knowing about the original timeline and that his first introduction/kill was killing areith and that entire cutscene in an of itself was 7 seconds. I could be wrong but that's how I see it
I viewed it as 7 seconds to change the past hince why biggs and zac are alive
I just figured he was big time lying and trying to be cryptic just to give Cloud and the players hope of saving Aerith. Just so it'd hurt more in Rebirth
I was hoping when you covered Aerith's flower garden near her house that you would've given a "win" point for her explaining what each type of flower means. It's been awhile when I played but I thought she gave a nice explanation of the flowers of this world and what they meant. That yellow flower in particular keeps being mentioned throughout this game and I'm hoping will also be in the 3rd game as well. The notion of a reunion. I'll keep watching but felt like sharing my thoughts before continuing the video.

I never got the chance to play the original Final fantasy 7 game but heard so much of it so when i saw the remake i was happy that i get the chance to play the game even if it is spilt into three game.

I don't know if you've ever played them, and they can be a bit much to get into, but you should totally play and do the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy. Based on what you seem to like in games, I think you'd really enjoy it. The Trails series too, but even as my favorite game series, I can understand how that's a hard one to get into.

I think my fav moment or at least one of my big favs in Remake is when you first meet Aerith. So many dang OG fans just bawling in joy ( Myself included ) when you hear her music gently start up as she's holding the flower to Cloud. You practically just wanna run up and hug her and the game lets you have that moment. 3 little piano notes can still make so many of us sob like children and I just adore that.

The dude has to cover the protorelic questline. He usually doesn't cover side content, but the protorelics are honestly worth adding to the main game with how well done they are.

ff7 remake was my first ever final fantasy and I absolutely loved it. The story was really great and it got me into final fantasy in general. I recently got FFX and will play rebirth at some point (maybe after Stellar Blade)

Played this game a few months ago for the first time in preparation for rebirth and I gotta say I loved most of what I played there were a few times I didn’t care for stuff but overall I enjoyed what I played

Question for the FF7 experts: Can Barrett’s gun hand turn into a normal hand? My main FF7 exposure was FF7 Machinabridged, and it looked like the gun turned into a hand there. It also seems like a smart idea to put away the gun whenever you’re dealing with a child, but maybe that’s just a me thing.

One of my favorite games of all time
Regarding the Sephiroth fight being 'too early,' this is something that didn't click until Maximilian Dood pointed it out: the fight we have in Remake... isn't early. It's a fight we never had in the OG at all. There's no point in the OG where we fight Sephiroth straight up: only Bizarro, One-Winged, and Shirtless. It's something brand new that feels more like a playable Advent Children segment.
And without knowing how the rest of the Remake trilogy goes, we also can't say it lessens the payoff of later fights because we don't know what those later fights will be. Slight spoiler, but the final fight in Remake doesn't detract from the final fight in Rebirth, and I'm excited to see what they come up with in R3.
That's something a lot of the criticisms toward Remake kind of neglect. They speak from the perspective of "this being different would hurt the original storyline" when the whole point is that things are different because the storyline is changing. And I'm invested in seeing what they do with it.

But here’s the most important question: are you team Aerith or team Tifa?
Personally I think both are great but I like Tifa more cause of the way she talks or how she’s afraid of ghosts or the past she shares with Cloud
I haven't finished the video yet but the fact he cut to Captain America saying "Perfect" while discussing Tifa probably hints he very much likes her character.
I'll continue watching though. Only 14 minutes in.

The devs of FF7 gave Rufus one of the biggest glowup in game storywise, lookwise and gameplaywise. I'm so happy that they're expanding more on stuff in the original rather than just making it exactly the same. Characters like Rufus needed more screentime and we get to see more of him and how he does things
