    I was one of the rare unicorns who got the full T .5 set. I worked evenings, so I never saw the inside of MC. This was my only option for better gear. I actually replaced my robe of the archmage with the T .5 chest because of how proud I was to have it. Later I got the Ironbark staff. Then TBC came out.

      The thing is, that people get more money from posting two videos, because the average viewer doesnt watch long videos. Its good that he splits them up, because that will ensure more of this cool content in the future. I would prefer longer videos too, but thats not how youtube operates, sadly.

    This may be an odd horn to toot, but I was actually the 1st player in NA to complete this quest (World 3rd). We logged the kill on the forums, just to see if we could score more points, but alas, the powers that be deemed the 10 man boss in UBRS, "not raid content."
    It took roughly 25,000g to complete quickly, with my entire 40 man raid team assisting - mostly farming arcanite, and shadow protection potions.
    One of the proudest moments I've ever had playing *any* game.
    Thanks to my guild Destined, and my boys Lazzador, Blindenvy, and Darkschneidr (Tokish, Poki, Hansel, Gretel... so many).

      @Rubee Sorry, I should have mentioned that it was the cost to supply the 25 players with that assisted, with Flasks, Shadow Protection Pots, a few enchants iirc, and all the repairs. My entire guild helped out with the entire process, so the 'gbank' paid out repair money. Healthy server economy too - Burning Blade. (Human Paladin named Chrisami).

    My dad passed down his mage to me when he stopped playing, and he's had this item called the [Extra-Dimensional Ghost Revealer] in his inventory this whole time. I've been clicking on it every once and awhile thinking I'd see dead players from graveyards or something, but to find out that it was part of this chain? I freaked out.

    The fact that it take so long to travel everywhere really gives you the sense that you're travelling across continents and it gives it that classic fantasy awesomeness feeling.
    Also makes you feel like a proper adventurer. You're given a task that's not easy and it might take you a long time. That's why the NPC is asking YOU to do this because they can't. In current WoW the quests have no real weight to them anymore.

    Man, everytime I click on a video I get flooded by nostalgia. I started playing late Burning Crusade as an excitable kid, but kinda dropped out when my first character, a bear form night elf druid, got to level 19. We only had one computer and my sister also played much more hardcore than I could, so I gravitated to other things. But then Wrath came out and my family got a new computer, so we had 2 stations for raids. I made a new character(Human Paladin) leveled up like crazy, went through all the classic raids with my sisters guild, rushed the outlands then straight to Northrand. I had so many laughs, a few arguments and fallouts, but most importantly beautiful memories. I played on and off since then, only to drop out with WoD. And everytime I click on a video it's like I'm back there, sitting on a foldable chair arguing with a warrior why my Paladin really needed the life stone from Straholme while my sister tried to explain that she needed it more than us. Your videos are just a blast to the past, and I really enjoy the work you put in. Stay awesome!

I believe I did it much much later when fighting for quests to find to do the glitched Loremaster title achievement. Back when that achievement was launched and they kept resetting the numbers sometimes counting quests you did and sometimes not. This went on for about a month and a half.

    Used to raid full time, but on the off raiding day our guild would run the dungeons for different things. I remember the frustration on getting my last dungeon set piece. Was the dreadnist shoulders off Jandice. It seemed every group I could pug for always invited another warlock and of course my /roll 100 sucked every single time I always lost. I finally did get the shoulders. Then I could start the quest line for the upgraded items. Another guy in our guild was doing the same quest chain, but he was a Druid. It wasn’t hard to ask guild for the hard fights required for this quest line. I did finish this quest chain and got all the Deathmist pieces. I am sad that they have added these set looks to the game via the dark moon fair. To me it feels like it cheapens the rarity of my hard work on this quest chain. All the hours spent pugging. I had them on my classic raiding char for years. I never did throw them out when transmog became I thing. I just couldn’t. Not after all the work I did to get it.
    Side note I wish I had kept my necropile set. For all the times I ran scholo to get those shoulders I did get that set, but sadly I did have to toss it due to lack of bank space near the end of classic. Wish I could get those back. Still kick myself over selling those 5 pieces.
    Thanks for the video. Brings me back a lot of memories.

      The replica items have "replica" in the name. You can still tell when someone is wearing/mogging the actual gear. I understand your disappointment, but it's also silly to not put some method of acquiring them into the game when almost nobody finished their d2.

    • @angiehaumont8158
      @angiehaumont8158 6 лет назад +1

      What I find insulting is in my collection my Desthmist comes up as a darkmoon fair set and not something more prestigious I guess. This quest chain took a very long time and to have it read as Darkmoon fair stuff is just sad.

    • @dantheman070
      @dantheman070 6 лет назад

      not true kael, I have the originals, still in my bank and everything, but when mogging that set it still calls it "replica" maybe don't make statements about things you do not understand?

    • @angiehaumont8158
      @angiehaumont8158 6 лет назад

      I just checked on my warlock. I did the set as transmog and it doesn’t say its replica. It just calls each piece as they are in my bank.
      Under the sets tab it comes up as Deathmist raiment, under that it says darkmoon fair.
      I get that they had to add these sets in for those that didn’t play classic. I’d just like my set to say “no longer obtainable or quest chain.

    Thank you for the memories.
    I remember doing this quest with my priest. It was so difficult!
    The money was not a problem, to be honest, the quests take days to complete, and you need a lot of help for the unique objectives to do inside the dungeons.
    We did Strat in less than 45 min. in order to save a NPC... was insane! for one quest. And of course, the reward wasn't worthy...
    Was easier to find a Molten Core group... and get better items from there.
    But yeah... the memories... do it for the fun!

Great PvP sets for those that don't have the time for the Rank 14 grind, and great PvE upgrades for those that aren't really all that interested in raiding. Looking forward to part two! Glad you answered my question from way back when! Keep 'em comin'!

      Indeed was rewarding and fun. I got to complete my warlock, paladin and warrior sets. I still have the summoning items on my warrior... but sadly, many of the locations where you could summon the unique bosses are gone or non functional... Like Rhaz Laboratory in Scholomance. I think i can still summon the night elf priest in Eastern Dire Maul, the group in Ring of Law in BRD, and the druid in LBRS, tho this last one i am not quite sure. I think the twin brothers in live Strath are gone and of course Val'thalak.

      As a leatherworker for example you were extremely fucked, because you didn't have as much money as other professions
      So this whole chain depends on your profession, which makes it either impossible or even more time consuming to farm stuff you can sell, so you can buy MORE stuff which is then needed for the Q🤔

    I used to run people through the timed event for free, it was great to see people on my server were really involved in it. Also wiping people with urn in UBRS was priceless.

    I remember these quests... managed to get Soulforge on my Paladin. This quest was absolutely brutal compared to the difficulty of just coasting through MC. You'd get props even from people decked in full T2 for completing this questline.
    I'm pretty sure the quest/gear was intended for those "capped" at having completed the full dungeon but who never got the chance to do serious raiding; it's long and expensive but can be broken up over a lot of time. Mad respect for anyone else who completed it.

    I remember having tier zero and even after having most of tier 1 giantstalker i made it a goal to get tier .5 but never finished it off. The preraid gear was amazing looking back then.

    you sir are my favorite wow content provider and I will be using your videos for sure when classic comes out...so many things I have forgotten about. I was going to do this quest but since I started six months into BC my guild leader said..not worth it...now I wish I had. Cataclysm ruined wow for me..even though I have played ever since with the exception of Cata...I took a long break after seeing what they did to the game.

    I was working on this in wrath, and even though you could solo everything, it was still very time consuming, never finished. Thanks Cataclysm!

    Omg, brings back lots of memories running dungeons to vet my devout set. And you are very correct in saying the .5 set was super expensive. I think i only managed to upgrade a cpl pieces before it dawned on me that raiding was more fun, gave much better gear and was way cheaper lol.

    I completed this quest before it was removed, wish I could go back and do it on another character. My most frustrating part was trying to get the chest to drop from UBRS so I could continue the quest or start it can't remember, think it took 20 runs! Great content, keep it up

  • @Tolmonster

    I state with great pride that I completed this quest chain and got my full Sorcerer’s set. It was grueling and my guild wondered endlessly why I was bothering. The truth was, back then I worked during prime raiding hours. Upgrading my tier 0 set was the best I could do. I only ever saw one other player with a full tier .5 set. The hardest parts (besides getting enough gold) was running Dstrat in under 45 min and Lord Valthalak, the final boss, which required a raid to defeat. This quest chain was a testament to the epic nature of classic wow. I hope it is available before MC is released so we see more people trying for it.

  • @terrydirks4441
    @terrydirks4441 6 лет назад

    I got the Heroism set when it was current.
    Being one of few people on my server who completed the quest chain, I was often asked to go to Dire Maul and Lower Blackrock as I was able to summon the bosses who were able to drop the ranged slot items for non-ranged classes (ex. Paladin Librams). I did this for free for guildies, especially ones who helped me complete the quest chain. For non-guildies I often charged them to try to recoup some of the gold I spent.
    On a side note: I only completed the Heroism set, but my in my transmog sets I have the Soulforge armor set available on my Paladin.

    I don't remember if I ever ended up getting any of these pieces, but I remember being pretty excited for them because at the time I didn't really have a good enough connection to handle raiding and wanted some means of experiencing more end game content.

    Great job with this questline explanation!
    Only suggestion I'd make is using a darker colour for the arrow marking nuetral (both Alliance and Horde) traveling across the world map.
    Maybe black, or anything more visiable than bright green.
