The NHI cannot be run only by the government as they cannot be trusted.The corruption that occurs in government has led to many state owned enterprises becoming bankrupt. We need members of the public to over see the running of the NHI. Private sector must be involved every step of the way.The NHI must not be too costly for the few employed people and taxpayers of the country.
Solidarity Movement you know what to do, we have Orania, Soltech, Akademia, etc why not our own health system?
Theres enough money for state healthcare to work, but it gets stolen by ANC and other corrupt government.

It will be better. I do have a medical aid but each time I go to specialists they will treat you unless you pay cash and claim from medical aid. Moreover they charge 4 times the rate of medical aid.
You clearly have no idea how the medical industry works or how doctors determine their fees. It’s not up to medical aids to dictate how much a doctor may ask for an operation. They will always try pay as little as possible. Most doctors can’t afford their overhead with those rates

Dr Gumede must accept that from now he has a responsibility for all patients, not just the "wealthy " one's. Health is a human right not a service tobe sold for profits,especially in a society unequal like ours. Well done to president Ramaphosa for this law.
Money that is in the private sector, those exorbitant medical aid charges will be used to employ the unemployed doctors
