Yes, I did enjoy that - thank you for the video. Took me back to my last trip to Southend - many years ago - when I took the ferry from Gravesend to Tilbury Riverside, which still had trains at that point!
Thanks for another fantastic video! I've ridden on the c2c sets a few times now, and they feel quite outdated! Thank you for highlighting the dingy atmosphere of Fenchurch Street. It's Sad as it used to be a lovely place.
Oooh I know bits of this line well (Barking to Fenchurch commute occasionally). Got to agree with your views on Fenchurch station building - too grim. Thanks for the tip off about the Senior Rover tix, I shall investigate! Cheers.
We used to take the C2C from Limehouse to Chalkwell all the time in the summer when I was a kid. The rides that are next to the pier in Southend used to be called Peter Pans Playground 😂. I can still remember the excitment of the train journey.
The train was really busy between Barking and Southend and I can report that there's still lots of children that are excited to be going to Southend and the other seaside stops on the line. Thanks you very much for watching 👍
The senior rover is only £7 if you don’t need the travel card zones from Fenchurch Street to Upminster or Rainham (Essex), e.g. if you have a 60 + Oyster card or Freedom Pass. Fenchurch Street is one of my least used London Termini, the other is Cannon Street. I do remember the old Fenchurch Street station however, and it too was pretty grim.
Yes. My sister came along with me and she has a Freedom Pass and so paid only £7. Not sure I'll be rushing back to Fenchurch Street any time soon... Thank you so much for watching and for adding that clarification.
I’ve been on c2c many times and the 4-Car Class 357 Electrostars are very nice trains. Also c2c have ordered 12 new 5-Car Class 720/6 Aventra trains that is expected to enter service sometime this year.
I be looking forward to the Class 720/6 Aventra trains coming into service on c2c which won’t replace the Class 357. And the Class 387/3 have been transferred to Great Northern.
Barking to Fenchurch St and back each while the central line was out in 2003 due to falling motors. Then a special bus (fleets of them) to South Woodford. Very well organised, but very lengthy journey.
@@PaulGodfrey paul, how's about if I just show the loo sometimes, because maybe it is bad or good... but I just show it and resolutely avoid the one-hand wash. I mean, if I TELL you everything works or doesn't you don't really need to see it do you?
CORRECTION: The line from Shoeburyness to Pig's Bay MOD did NOT go via the passenger station at Shoeburyness. This was always the terminal. The line to Pig's Bay diverged short of where the old Signalbox and the sidings now stand, and cross the road, which is signposted to East Beach. It continued for a couple of miles. I did the only passenger train to reach the bufferstops at Pig's Bay. A charter from the Western Region, that I joined at London PADDINGTON before it travelled via the Tottenham and Hampstead Joint (Goblin). If you walk along the East Beach you will find a disused 2ft gauge railway. The base at Pig's Bay used to have a V2 rocket as the gate guardian pointing skywards. All hush hush, everyone knew it was a missile testing facility, from the sound alone !
I think the line has been disused for a decade or more. It was the last time I visited. The level crossing gates at East Beach remain as does the track. But all is disused and rusty. I spoke to the chap on the gate and asked for an impromptu look round, but he declined. He looked surprised that I knew about the V2, for it has been kept indoors as part of a collection.
@@vicsams4431 in Havengore point, there used to be a set of points in the form of a triangle and one part of it (the part that goes back to the sidings) had been removed and the tracks are covered in plants
@Johny Hoover Travels | So remember yesterday how I was ranting about EMR's 172's & how they look like 377s? While C2C made their 377's look like 172's yes I know their 357's but their still electro-stars and still are bombardier Adtranz.
Haha fair enough! I mean we like to have lots of different trains to ride, but operators and manufacturers much rather standardise as much as they can... so it does become like "everything looks the same" Thanks for watching another 👍
I may just do that. Wrt details, there's only so much time in a video to say things. So I must admit that I cannot include every detail. I do hope you enjoyed it anyway. And thank you for watching 👍
Much enjoyed. Used this line when I was a young seaman, 60 years ago! Love your vids. Cheers from Oz.
I will continue my search for somewhere you didn't go in your seafaring years 😉
Thank you for watching another 👍

No problem. Pleased to be of help 😃
This is the mainline. There is also a branch line service too.
Yes, I didn't get a chance to ride through Tilbury on this trip. but if I go back I will surely try it out.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful journey.
Thank you
no problem! Great that you've watched another. Thank you 👍
Westcliff is definitely not the posh bit of Southend - Thorpe Bay is
Haha! So I hear. This lad from Devon doesn't know his Essex 🤷♂️
Thanks so much for watching 👍
That bit did make me laugh. Great video though.

When i hear the tones of "dreadful entrance hall" I am back in the head's study for a carpeting. Somebody out there must be trembling!
Well, it is dreadful. Maybe that was my "disappointed Dad" tone 😉
I did enjoy it, thank you

No toilet review. Bliss.
Train was really busy and I didn't need to go. Actually there WAS a review... "the toilet was out of order"... at least that accessible one was!
I have seen enough people washing 1 hand in train toilets to last a lifetime. Really wish vloggers would stop doing it.
