My friends use to laugh at me when I busted out the free rig. At the end of the day all of them had the free rig tied on 😂 It’s hands down been my most productive technique over the past 4 years. When I need a bite the Dolive beaver on a free rig comes out. Thanks for the dope video Debo tight lines brotha
Ok can you confirm this for me? Are free rigs effective in water less than 5ft deep? I bought a bunch of expensive tungsten free weights but the water i fish is shallow and it doesn't feel like i get the separation you would want with the free rig. Am i trippin?
@@iLearnt-IT-on-You-Tubes no just use a lighter weight if it’s not working then maybe try a weightless wacky rigged worm and see how that does. I’ve caught plenty of fish in shallow water on the free rig. Most of the time when it’s that shallow they will hit it on the fall so you have to really watch the line. Hope this helps.
I have to give that rig a try again. I have the same rod and love it. I do have those weights and the river I have been fishing in this last month I wonder how that will work wet wadding... I'll try that tomorrow. I cant wait till that video comes out 🙂 BTW you are crazy famous and without you uploading videos more than half of us wouldn't try have the things that you are pitching in the water. I have been using ned rigs for the last month and just absolute loving it.
Love the video! I would absolutely love to sit by a fire with you have a beer and talk fishing - then go fishing! That is something I know me and A LOT of other people that watch your videos would love to do!
Great video, like always!! The free rig falls more vertical than a Texas rig and the soft plastics have more time to sink freely. The trick is to keep a slack line on the fall.
Very nice video covering the free rig. Headed through your town on Thursday, going to International Falls, Minnesota. Then into Ontario on Friday to fish at Perrault Lake in the sunset country. Looking forward to warm weather and a good walleye bite. Have a great week.
@richardblake4777 hahah well just wait until you have a few free bucks. I spend too much on tackle too but...ya only live once and all.my bills are paid soo 🤣
Big fan of the free rig. I like it with the elastomer floating baits b/c they float off the bottom and look like baitfish feeding off the bottom. Also can suspend off the bottom and get sideswiped by fish
I've tried the free rig. Put in some time with it, and like the Tokyo rig, it doesn't produce. Could be confidence, could be that it gets snagged from the bank. Idk, but I'll stick with the tried and true Texas rig.
Great video. I just started messing around with the free rig. The fall is interesting. Falls kinda quick until weight hits bottom and then it glides. I’m gonna really give it a go early into late fall.
Great viDebo as usual; thank you for the insights. Questions: what’s been your PB this season thus far and what’s been your PB on BFS or micro rigs? Inquiring minds want to know!! Keep on feeschin’ !!
Fun day on the water. Good to see you back on the horse, as they say. Do you find yourself taking less gear (combos/tackle) on the yak since your incident? The free rig reminds me of an unpegged T-rig. Thanks for the shout out on my comment. Seriously, I would love to fish with you man.
Ik this video gonna be good but I got a question for ya debo. When it comes to moving baits/reaction baits, which ones do you fish when it is sunny with wind or sunny with no wind. I know that chatterbaits spinnerbaits or things with flash work on overcast days with wind or without wind, but for those calm sunny days with or without wind, and either clear or stained water, would I still throw those bladed type moving baits or use a more subtle swim jig or Swimbait.
I still don't really get the difference between the free rig and an unpeged bullet weight. Also, would a teardrop weight work the same way? I love catching crappie when I'm targeting bass! I caught one today on a hard plastic jerk bait. I didn't even know the pond had them, and I thought it was a tilapia 😂
Hi Devon I'm going to try that free rig, was hoping to do it with the new Rebel baits, but I'm starting to think nobody's ever going to send that 📦 , and I thought I won, but nope....story of my life...........jimi
@@DEBOSFishing Thanks Debo, sorry for bugging you, The box 📦 came today!
