    Incase you haven't figured it out already, the "Poly" in Polygondwanaland is in reference to the concept of poly-rythms which the whole album is built around.

    This album is so cool. It is organized into 3 separate song suites, each being thematically connected and yet unique and to top it off the Gizz released it completely free for fans so you can even do your own vinyl pressing if you want to. Side two is just crazy. Can't wait for you to take a listen to the Horology suite. Thank you for giving us your thoughts!

    I still remember buying their Beatles esque Papier Mache Dream Balloon when that came out and loving that they sounded a bit like this...a bit like that.....but absolutely, totally fully formed and like themselves....a fantastic achievement /combination. They have a freedom in their set up that shines through well whatever angle they have approached each album so far.... More power to them.🖤👍

    My first listen to this and totally enjoyed and appreciated it, and my son is presently the drummer for a Black Sabbath tribute band called Bit of Finger so I texted him to check out your RUclips video of this album. Myself, I love your reviews, especially since you listen to the vinyl versions. And I wouldn’t be me without you also check out the music of Jethro Tull ( an album every year from 1968-1980). Plus there are live concert videos, but I recommend that you listen to the studio version of each album before seeing the live performances. I saw. them six times from’71-79. Knowing the album songs before you see them live makes the live performance an incredible experience! So expand your love of music to include some of the best songs ever by master musicians. Great work you are doing and thank you!

    Glad to see you come back 'round to KGLW, but the reason you hear two different rhythms might be because they had 2 drummers at the time... which still baffles me

    • @DeclannShieldsFilms
      @DeclannShieldsFilms 2 года назад +3

      It’s two different rhythms because the album was written around polyrhythmic patterns, each drummer played a different rhythm and syncopated only on certain beats. This extends to the guitar and vocal work too

  • @threestringsomg
    @threestringsomg 2 года назад

    Yup, they are def in the same wheelhouse as the awesome Gentle Giant. Saying that they do also offer much much more... as well as that modern spin on those 70s prog sensibilities there's metal, jazz, rnb, rock, krautrock, synth, conceptual, crazy, offbeat, acoustic,....so epic, varied and still a really young career. For me they are contenders with Opeth as the best band in the world at moment....the sheer prolific energy, consistent excellence, talent and execution of their albums is def no.1
    All hail Spring Chizzard and the Plizzard Mizard!🌍🏆👏👍🥳

    In case no one mentioned it and you don't already know the title "Polygondwanaland" is a portmanteau of the words polygon and gondwanaland with Gondwanaland being the name of a prehistoric supercontinent that broke away from the earlier larger and more well known supercontinent of Pangea.

    Sorry Jim,
    Heard this album already on JustJP’s channel. But I’ll listen to it again because I can’t remember how it sounded.
    1. Now I do remember. It sounds like a big jam session. Interesting rhythms; jolly music; very nice. Don’t like the end of the song.
    2. A hint of King Crimson I think. I like it.
    3. A hint of Gentle Giant also but Gentle Giant sings a lot better. This band does a sort of speaking on a certain note in stead of singing properly. Music is interesting and quite good.
    4. A bit of the same.
