Honestly, this one wasn't really scary. It was just really sad and heartbreaking, its basically about someone not knowing they're dead until the one they love pointed out they're just a ghost and slowly, they come to terms with it. Its actually one of Junji Ito's more tame stories, in fact I can easily see this story being the plot of an episode of "Ghost Whisperer"
@@butteredbananas1394 This wasnt supposed to be a scary story though. But i get the OP i mean most of Junji Ito stories End so abruptly and unexlained that Is refreshing to see one that doesnt
Her fiance loved her even years after her death. But the living must live and he can't make a life with an after image. She returned back home to the family that loved her unconditionally to stay until she disappears and move on. I think is a very nice ending. Her fiance also must live his life (this is why his family hated her). She will stay with her father and until the end I don't think she has regrets at this point. It was bitter sweet but nice ending.
I just realized. The reason why she was having nightmares of her father dying is because he actually died, and her father is just an after-image like her. This is why the family refuses to promise to revive him, because they already did. That's why he acts like normal, and that's why she wonders who is "going first"
No? The reason they refused to make an after image of him was because she was already dead and most likely would fade away even before her father would have passed away. Also, she asks that because she wonders if she’ll fade away first or if her dad would die before she fades away. I’m not sure if you were high when you typed that but it really doesn’t make much sense.
Spoiler Alert: I got the ‘Sixth Sense’ movie vibe from this one. But I had difficulty suspending disbelief she was just an after-image, as she could think, feel, move, talk independently in comparison to her husband’s relations.
If I was her I would have demolished that house and those with it as revenge for summoning me by force then go see my father before I go to hell. If I’m going to suffer I would at least make sure no other ghost gets force summon again by the husband’s family
@@mariogameplays2144 ? ..... you do realize he force her back to the living world then quickly decided he wanted to move on with life treating her ghost as trash. What’s even worse the husband never told the wife’s dad about her death. If anything he and his family deserve punishment. It wasn’t his fault? Buddy how would you react in this situation as the ghost wife
I like the tone and theme of it, but the plot twist is pretty poorly done tbh. If he was gonna pull a sixth sense on her, he should have laid out his hints a bit better. The dream at the beginning was a perfect opportunity to do this, yet it was simply used as character portrayal, and the actual hints didn't stand out at all (as in, they aren't related to Riko in a significant way, thus can be promptly dismissed). You may argue that the dream actually hints at it if we see it in a Freudian way (ie. father stands in for herself, since she loves him the most; the object of father represents her unreal presence), which I suspect might be a valid read in light of his other stories. Still, the connection isn't clear, so the twist didn't deliver well for me.

Junji ito.
When he doesn’t scare you shitlis he gives you feels!
I love this one so much out of the others, like, everything is actually explained in the end and not so confusing
It takes away the horror if everything is explainef

A big majority of japanese horror doesn't have explanation, that's what makes it different from western horror, and is what makes it way better.
junji ito isnt making stuff for 5yos, he's making stuff for people who can analyse his works
@@dreamsunfinished9512so by your dumb logic this one isn't for adults

This so sad....not fact she well disappear but her life was taken away and her fiance not love her anymore I feel so bad

When she was greeted by her papa’s loving gaze, I felt so glad and sad at the same time.
