Safety - I spent 3 months in the Philippines and the only place where I ever felt unsafe was in Ermita in Manila. However, there are lots of places where where they have full time open carry armed guards even in places like McDonalds in Ermita and EDSA. Also, all around the Mall of Asia and in Makati I was amazed by the number of armed guards. There are many, many shops, hotels, storage facilities etc. in these areas with armed guards around the clock. I made the mistake of dropping my phone in Angeles on Fields Ave and it vanished almost instantly and went offline. I agree the Philippines seems quite safe, but I feel much safer in Bangkok.
So you dropped your phone in an area known for prostitution etc and it disappeared instantly 😂. At least it’s not as bad as some cities in the U.S. 😮 Like San Francisco where the streets are covered in human excrement and used needles 💉 And people walk into a Walgreens with a big garbage bag, fill it and walk out 😮 Or South Chicago where it’s like a war zone 😮
The armed guards are pretty useless IMO. They're only good for opening doors and maybe detering petty theft. When it comes to deterring violent crime -- whether it's committed by state actors or other criminals -- they're completely useless. For example, search for video footage of Allan Lumbres Fajardo's kidnapping at Seda Hotel in Nuvali (an upscale area).

If you watch enough Filipina vlogs and watch what and how they cook, you’ll understand why they get so fat. It’s why the West has an obesity pandemic. Diets are very high in carbs, Rice, loads of sugar, even fresh fruits are high in sugar. Also seed oils are soooo bad for you. If you want to live a long life, you’ll need to either cook for yourself or retrain your Filipina how to cook a healthy diet.

Just my opinion - Wear any pants, closed shoes & t-shirt/polo shirt. If you look at middle-class Filipinos (and above), they mostly all do this even outside, it doesn't make you sweat anymore than you are going to anyway. Shorts & flip-flops ain't exactly helping most foreigners with women.

Another great video Scotty, the Philippines is truly a magical place for single male foreigners . Your observations are spot on Scotty boy feminist would be appalled 😱 at seeing young women with older foreigners with here in the Philippines they just don’t care! 🤷🏻♂️
Nah…fillipino women would rather be with men from their own culture as they are family oriented, caring and understanding. We are all becoming aware of old western men just looking to take advantage abd just want a maid. No thank you.

@@louisbee7923yep money is the key. I saw girls in calahocan with 4 or 5 ldr from foreign men who would see them when they came on vacation for a few weeks a year and tell their Philippines husband or boyfriend to leave for a few weeks. They were getting monthly support from all the foreigner. It happens more than people know. She just balances her schedule to make sure they don't come at the same time to see her. Their husband or boyfriend does not care she has monthly income from the guys, good for him. Some of them have not even been to the Philippines yet.
spent a week there, I really felt like everyone was trying to scam me, from hotel personel taxi drivers, especially bar girls there is that saying " smile in their face but stab them in the back"
Weather has been great here, but May is coming! As for the money thing. I ask that all the time. 2million and up cars+trucks are all over the place. Mall mid day,mid week more than 1/2 full. Where do they get their money? You see 4million and up house going up all the time here.
Here in Virginia, the motels and hotels around me are a mix of upscale and not so much. One up the street that people pan handle all day to stay in a few days to get off the street for a bit, is still $50 a night. Many people live week to week in various places. Renting an apartment starts off at the very lowest at about $600, but most are $900 a month and up. Houses are probably an average of $2500 a month.
Without sounding like too much of a sycophant, once again Scooty has nailed it. Feel way safer in Pi land than in a lot of places in Cali. Couldn't agree more, me boy!
I feel safer back in the States. Violent crime happens both here and there, but it's only here in the Filthyppines that I've **personallly** witnessed violent crime including murder. Theft and rape are common, and extreme corruption adds a layer of danger that I/we don't have to worry about back home. If someone wants to have you thrown in a filthy shithole of a prison for years on end before a trial is even granted (not that it would help), they can easily make it happen. Not very long ago, a team of PNP officers illegally abducted my previous neighbors and subsequently framed the father with shabu (methamphetamine). The corrupt city prosecutor sided with the pulis even though CCTV footage clearly showed they were lying. The guy is still rotting away in jail and his daughter is traumatized from the illegal abduction That type of injustice happens often around here. It isn't rare.
THis point about clothes are right, also imagine wearing tuxedo in this tropical island, im sweating as hell wearing tank top... I have to get use to it, its my third week here.
I had to google "shamu" and its about a whale in the 1970's, lol. But the classic was when Scotty is narrating how hes just going to relax and watch people go by, or something like that, while the actual picture rushes by at such high speed that its impossible to even see how many Babaroonies he's probably seeing. All good memories of past videos, though. Btw the reason that a lot of people are rich is probably because they are able to use the poorer people to make money for them. Theres a massive gap in the middle class, I suspect.
The most ridiculous thing is having a girlfriend or wife that the whole family wants to get involved in and worst expecting financial support. I want to see an END to this toxic manipulative nonsense!!!
It's only like that if you let it. Tell your girl you will take care of her, not her family. If she cannot accept tell her better to break it off. I give my girl a monthly amount, not large but enough and tell her if she wants to give to her family than she can from her money

@Regular_Guyph ypu nailed it with the comment about being tempted to buy everything in the stores back home and here I have to search and analyze every last thing on the grocery shelves and I still struggle to bring myself to buy anything at all.
I remember seeing on another expats channel of a Swiss chain grocer. Don't remember the name but had great selection of meats and cheese. Unfortunately, they only had a few locations in greater Manilla.
As they say in French: "c'est la vie". Your famous translation in English: "it is what it is". Works for me, my friend! or "Obladi, oblada, life goes on... bra!" Beatles' version.
ALL third world countries are heavily family oriented (no leaving the nest) as the family is their insurance and backup. Every single poor country, without fail. First world the gov is your insurance and backup. Not so on the edge of potential hunger.
Nice vid Scott. Will be very interesting when you get to travel on the bike! I hope you keep us posted during those times about how safe or unsafe you find traveling that way is, as far as road conditions etc, as well as how receptive the babes are in provinces 😊

Let’s be clear, the locals DO NOT like the long lines. I have witness locals skip line more times than I can count, I stand there and watch their frustrations many times. They are humans and have human emotions just like humans from any other Country. This notion that the Filipino people are the most patient people on earth is funny when I hear it. These people actually care about their time more than most other countries. The man needs to be in the field producing, the wife has chores to do, etc…they surely don’t need to spend half a day waiting in line, and they 100% don’t like it.
@DeltaDawg They are humans and are smart enough to look at the size of the line or lines when they go into a store and decide if they have the time to wait, or they do not go in the store and go somewhere else. Common sense.....you don't do that?
there is syndicates, what they call them but they are in the shadows, manipulating some of the prostitutes and people selling stuff in the streets is what i am told, but i am sure some are independent too
Not that hot? This guy does not realize that he is in the Philippines deep in the very brief PHILs "winter" when the Amihan winds from the north are at their strongest. This will last through February 14. On February 15 or about, the winds will reverse and it will become extremely hot, direct from coldest winter to hottest summer. March is terrible. In mid-April it will cool from unbearably hot and humid to very hot and humid until September, the "ber" months, as winter again approaches into January when we experience "normal" temperatures again.

@@YWYW476I saw this happen in Colombia about 30 years ago with the proliferation of fast food. In ph definitely too much rice and fried foods don’t help

Great observations and congrats on the new bike. I'll chime in with the safety nannies about that. Hope you'll be riding with good helmet, gloves and footwear. Looking forward to your travel reporting.
nice summary Scott!

The branded version was called "The Bro".
Can’t wait for new travel vids. I think this year your Channel will grow because of it. Also wait for the “They just don’t care” T-shirts lol.
Another great vid Scottie! Keep ‘em coming!
l live in Manila, you said there is no gangs or organised crime, l can assure there is both, but they are quiet. l was shocked to find out there is a gang culture, but not doing bad things like the US and UK, even the boys in gangs are friendly. l often see the organised criminals, they tend to travel in motorcades, always about 3--4 cars, l see them every day in Malate.
My number one thing inthe Philly is the food. I can’t help but think every meal I eat there could be my last.
The 1 major downside to the Phil’s is their food… horrible taste and selections.
Ha ha not all humba is amazing my girl is great cook if u want be safe mate eat the oaten the best veggies in the world and fruits are to die for😮😮
@@eamonkelly36 yep . When I Amin he filly I eat as much fruit as possible for my safety lol
Great video sharing your own perspectives. CONGRATULATIONS on the NMax find. This new version is suppose to have some nice improvements over the 2023 Year, not sure exactly what those are. That 3 week time will fly by so quickly, in no time you will be enjoying your new ride. I like your mods you have chosen to do right away. Some other thoughts; if not already mentioned would be to look into a front and rear camera system - recording on a loop using a micro sd card. HORN - upgrade so its louder, I'm amazed how often I have used. Have a great time on Siquijor.
It's been a cool year, lol globle cooling
Great as always SB and in the big supermercado today in Quezon City and spartan choices on cream, coffee, mayo, etc.. and you name it Bro!
yeah they just dont care about giving something unique
What are you doing for the ever changing visa requirements?
That's F-ing Hilarious lmao. No gut hanging down covering your ballsack !!!!! Give it to us straight Scotty Boy lol Love it
Great videos Scotty. Nice the Nmax is here.
Agree with all your observations. Thank you for sharing.

Hi I enjoy your stories, advice, respect of the people and your humor (advice). In the last 8 years I have travelled to Cebu and on to Bohol to visit my GF family. Thanks so much for your video's. I enjoy listening

I'm surprised you just can't get a temp registration with your new bike. But I agree, I will look to buy used if and when I ever make it there. But I gotta tell ya, I think I've seen a few bikes of the 600cc variety in some of your vids. I am real partial to them! 😊
Living the best life of freedom.😊
yeah its kind of a dream come true
Great video Scotty. There's a lady from Dumagette I've had dialog with recently, and I wonder why she is interested in me when there's a lot of expats there already. To make things worse now, Scotty is there
Lots of guys around, doesn’t mean there’s lots of quality guys who want what she wants. That’s a rare commodity.
Let me give you the answer: please send money.
what app or website did you find her on?
@@louisbee7923yep money is the key. I saw girls in calahocan with 4 or 5 ldr from foreign men who would see them when they came on vacation for a few weeks a year and tell their Philippines husband or boyfriend to leave for a few weeks. They were getting monthly support from all the foreigner. It happens more than people know. She just balances her schedule to make sure they don't come at the same time to see her. Their husband or boyfriend does not care she has monthly income from the guys, good for him. Some of them have not even been to the Philippines yet.
Speaking about the weather, it never bothered me. I even enjoy the rain, coming from Oregon
spent a week there, I really felt like everyone was trying to scam me, from hotel personel taxi drivers, especially bar girls

I knew it changed. 50 years ago it was 35-10.
Haaa! Hadn’t heard 35-10 in roughly 20-25 years! 🤣
Weather has been great here, but May is coming! As for the money thing. I ask that all the time. 2million and up cars+trucks are all over the place. Mall mid day,mid week more than 1/2 full. Where do they get their money? You see 4million and up house going up all the time here.
You can visit here province of Leyte, Tacloban City Leyte 😊
Nice looking bike you bought. Lucky you.
@@YWYW476 this is the US?
Roach hotels run $100/night around Detroit. I know because I'm supporting my daughter in one.
We are witnessing greatness
Scotty Boy, believe me, you are sooooo right, much much safer than Mexico, lived there many years and indeed there are huge issues in Mexico.
yes sir my buddy got kidnapped there for fk sake
Great video like always

Having swag in the PH is basically impossible. It’s just too hot for anything other than a t-shirt and shorts. Better to just accept it.
well tshirt and shorts and sandals thats swag homie thats all you need you dont even need your panties
@@YWYW476look into the "Artic Cool" line of clothing. They are meant for hot climates. They do charge a price premium though.
@@mikga45 Better yet, find a girl works and has siblings pitching in and helping to raise the parents. You shouldn't have a girl who every one in the family is dependent on...no way
Scotty when you rent these hotel rooms on your trips. Do these hotels require a credit card or do they just require cash?
Agree 110% on the groceries!
yah man i just wish the buyer had more reason to buy cool stuff rather than the drab stuff they have now. i mean today i saw 'creamer' that was 3% fat and had chinese writing on it and said 'made in new zealand' i mean seriously come on its ridiculous
@Regular_Guyph I wish it was possible to get cold, pasteurized dairy out here in the Pangasinan province.

You want a interesting way to travel and run a random series is put a map on a bulletin board throw a dart and that is you next destination. Take your time exploring the journey. Then when you get map from the local town and throw another dart. Then you find that family who lives there and do their story.

Just come to the Phils. When you’re here, strike a conversation with any lady you fancy be it in the mall, grocery store, hotel, resto, bus, street, etc. Don’t be straightforward. You need to be patient. Take it from a local Filipino man.

Great video, Scotty! I’m moving to the Phils in March. I eat healthy. You made me nervous. Don’t they have healthy no sugar options? Protein bars and things along those lines? Or should I fill another suitcase with stuff like that?
No, they have very little options here. You can find a health food store at some malls, but it is expensive. Very.
Protein bars aren't healthy..
Cook your own food.
No protein bars at 7-11 here, only at specialty health food stores in big cities.

Hey Scotty! It's a fact that the average weight of American women has risen dramatically in the last few decades. Luckily we have much better options in the Phils.
Cool vid. I’m surprised about the shocks. Are you sure you need them? I’d think maybe heavy people would be more likely to need them. Ride safe! Get an extra helmet that you can lock on the outside of the bike so that it doesn’t use any storage space.
The extra helmet is for a cute unexpected passenger :-)
Scotty, always get a chuckle form your content. It's been interesting to see your journey evolve over time. Just an observation, please. I'd be careful about calling out the old Expats needing "manziers" when your own "moobs" are rather obvious as well. LOL. 🤣

There are many places more dangerous than Tondo . The dirt roads in Bacong at night are the real danger
