As far as tips go, I don't think i have any original ideas, but I've discovered two things lately.
    1. Zep shower and tile spray cleaner. I have an old fiberglass shower enclosure that had quite a bit of build-up that I struggled to remove. This stuf took it right out. There was a section that was harder. What i did was soak a paper towel in the product and lay it over the area so the cleaner didn't just drain away. I was thinking i was going to have to replace the shower.
    2. I had a remote control that had a battery that was all corroded and it coated the battery compartment and all the nooks and crannies with the white corrosion build-up. I took a q-tip dipped in white vinegar and it all melted away.

Well, I don't speak sourdough. However, I have been in a long-term relationship with Jet-Dry for the past 20+ years. 😂 I find that it makes my glassware, flatware, and dishware, look sparkling clean. My acrylic tumblers look brand new after a cycle with rinse aid. I have a Bosch and my instruction manual recommends the use of rinse aid in order for full functionality of the appliance. We have extremely hard water and it also helps to keep mineral deposit build up in the filter area of the dishwasher at bay.

    Right, here we go......
Equal quantities of any flour and water in a clean jar. Cover with cheesecloth and leave overnight. Next day discard half and feed again, same quantities. Next 3 days, do the same. Your starter should be active and bubbly. You do not need lukewarm water, honey, sugar, warm or cold room. Its that simple! Use that starter, feed it and repeat. When you don't want to use it, cover with a lid and put it in the fridge. When you want to use it, bring it out of the fridge and let it come back to room temperature, feed it and repeat until you have an active and bubbly starter. I've had mine for 10 years and have done exactly the same thing every time! It gets better with age and mine makes delicious sourdough every time! @farmhouseonboone on RUclips is amazing!
Love this channel by the way! Xoxo

I’m a day late watching this week, but try putting cheesecloth over your starter instead of paper towel. You want to collect wild yeasts out of the air and they have to be able to get in. You could also put it in your screened pool area for warmth and catching breezes. No two starters are alike because of the locales they’re created in. Good luck!

I bake with sourdough! I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but I always killed my starter (or it wouldn't rise) when I used the town water. We live in town and my starter doesn't like the water. I just use spring water then, or bottled water, or boil the town water and cool it. For some reason the water right out of the spigot just ain't it. The friend that gave me that starter confirmed my suspicions about it. Now I bake the most beautiful and delicious bread, and I won't go back!

When you measure liquids your measuring cup should have a pour spout. There are dry measuring cups and liquid measuring cups and they are slightly different. Most of the time it won't matter, but some baked good are picky and it does change it.

Yeah, your sourdough is way to "wet". When beginning a new starter I always use distilled water, tap water has chlorine, and use room temp water. And those saying use a scale are right, a cup of water and a cup of flour are not equal weights. I have also used a heating pad on the lowest setting on my countertop to set my sourdough on. Also using a heating pad helps your dough to rise faster before baking. Good Luck!

Ok cleaning hack I use my O ceded mop to clean my walls and baseboards once a month I use water, vinegar (the vinegar smell goes away as it drys ) and peppermint oil. The only does my house smell amazing and it's clean but peppermint oil repels bugs and spiders I also go around all my door and window sills with it as I live in Northeast Tennessee so we have a lot of those things and it keeps them out of my house. Also I have two dogs that get all over my sofa so I take alcohol and water and spray it down and it is a deodorizer.

With sourdough starter, you need to use Luke warm water. Yeast is living, and it needs to gently be stimulated, and it needs to eat, hence the sugar.
One cleaning hack, use Lysol or Chlorox toilet bowl cleaner in your shower and tub (with bleach). Scrub it on, let it sit about 5 minutes. Scrub a little again and voila, no soap scum or mildew left! It's awesome!

    Hello Cambriea and Bobby,
How's your weather treating you? It's been a scorcher over here. Dealing with a heatwave since Monday and it's supposed to last all week. I think the government should provide everyone with AC's especially if you're sick, living alone, elderly and on medications because heatstroke and dehydration can kill you. My little rant, everyone be safe out there and hydrated.
I'm loving the outdoor transformation so far. When you get around to doing the painting outdoors which areas do you plan on painting (will it be a cosmetic touch it or drastic change of color)? Do you have plans on repaving the driveway? Would you change the style of your garage door or just give it a "facelift"? Sorry I turned it into a Q&A but I'm really thinking 🤔🤔 what could you possibly do on the outside it's so gorgeous and unique already. Have a wonderful rest of your week.
    ❤ Janelle 🇨🇦😘

So I do make sour dough bread. I just started my journey in January this year. When I thought my starter wasn’t performing well I added rye flour (1/3rd of the recommended flour ratio) and barely warm water. I also left it on my counter with the under cabinet light bulb on which made it just a tiny bit warmer. You could also put it in your oven with the light on if you are brave enough to remember not to preheat your oven with in there. And you need to be patient, it can take up to 3 weeks to get a nicely active starter.
Once established, I use 1/3 of the recommended flour ratio of whole wheat flour along with the unbleached bread white flour.
Also, use a good quality bread flour such as King Arthur or Heckers.
    It’s a science experiment basically. …..good luck.

When starting and feeding sourdough, NEVER use hot water, cool to lukewarm is the best temp. I have bought a “starter” because all one needs is flour and water, a warm environment and time. Now, for flour, for a newbie, I would recommend Unbleached bread flour (King Arthur has organic Non-GMO flours that I use), not wheat or any whole grain flour because those flours take longer to get going. To make a starter put 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup water in a large glass container with a loose lid (I use a stoneware crock with lid), day 1 - do nothing; day 2-6, remove half cup starter and add 1/2 cup flour and 1/4-1/2 cup water twice a day about 12 hours apart- DO NOT REFRIGERATE DURING THIS 7 DAY PROCESS. On day 7, your starter should have doubled or quadrupled, take one cup out to bake with and add 1/2 cup flour and 1/4-1/2 cup water to starter- at this point, if you leave on the counter, then do a daily discard (removing starter) and feeding the starter OR you can put in the fridge until you are ready to use- I generally take the starter out the night before, do a discard and feed so the next morning I have bubbly and room temp starter for my weekly baking spree (I usually bake or ferment on Friday & Saturday for the next week). The BEST place to go to learn about sourdough and recipes is Farmhouse on Boone- both her blog and YT channel- I always steer newbies to Lisa because she is a step-by-step teacher, low key and has some of the best recipes out there.

Try adding some wheat or rye to your starter. It will give it a boost for a few feeding and see how that goes :)

People are complaining about 76F which is 24-25C, it's 44C most of the day (111F) here LOL
Also, you were frozen in couple of clips towards the end there when you were cleaning the widow and entryway

I've heard sourdough takes awhile when using all purpose flour. I'm going to be trying bread flour and hoping it does better than the last time I tried sourdough starter. I just went down a rabbit hole on tiktok and saved a bunch of videos 😅

Your starter looks too thin and needs feeding. I feed my starter every week with rye flour bcz of the bran which it thrives on … but I use all purpose for the actual recipe. After feeding I let it hang out on the counter until you see it starting to bubble & grow and then put into fridge until I’m ready to make bread. Pull it out and let it come to room temp and refeed or if it floats it’s ready. Good luck ☘️

My sourdough starter really took off when I started feeding it with rye flour. Mine was acting like yours before then, I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong because I was following instructions exactly. Mine still doesn’t taste quite right, but I keep trying!
