Loved the Todd in the Shadows shout-out. I actually got into him when he did a One Hit Wonderland on a favorite band of mine. Their other fans were pissed... I thought it was hilarious.
The thing about Deadmau5 that a lot of people miss is that he has dipped his foot in almost every electronic genre there is, to the point where he has basically just made noise at one point. But the poppy cheesy vocal tracks with four on the floor beats will always get more attention than any Trip Hop or DNB he makes because it's what sells. I can't blame him for taking advantage of what he knows considering he has the ability to.
Couldn't agree more with Fantano's take on "vocalists = actors". On the subject of MCR vs "emo" I can see where people are coming from, but I also hear bands like Smashing Pumpkins and Misfits peppered in their sound (definitely big influences on Gerard Way's writing and vocal style). Hello Anthony, I hope you are in good health. I’m still picking up the sense of humour as the rest of your audience, however I’d like to note that “Preznobutin” who replied to your tweet this morning with a photo of female little pump should be incarcerated for such an act. Thank you Anthony, talk soon
In regards to "Singers who don't write their own lyrics are just actors", I agree if the artist is a rapper since you don't require a good singing voice. With actual singing however, you have to actually be able to sing. Rappers that use ghost writers are literally just actors *cough* Drake
with the Emo thing, where the genre was in the 80s as an offshoot from hardcore punk, then transitioned into the 90s with a bunch of post-hardcore entries makes sense. Then suddenly jumping into the 2000s and some pop rock/barely pop punk bands are meant to be inhabiting the same genre with no real discernible lineage to make that evolution. Its a bit like the mainstream country. You might be able to pick some country-sounds out of it, but because its sort of artificially glued together modern trends onto country tropes (because organic evolution in country is so massively suppressed by the Nashville police). To make the jump over you have to go from Emo(80s/early 90s Punk)-Skate Punk-Pop Punk-Power Pop-Pop Rock-Emo Pop (FOB and Panic). Its a lot of separation to try and land something in the same theoretical genre. And while it could be chalked up to leaving off subgenre (Emo-punk, Emo-rock(90s), Emo-pop), there's somewhat of an understandable case that the main label should be applied largely to the original item, with the offshoots having to take on the subgenre status.
I'm kinda pissed off that post-hardcore mean two completely different things. Often when I was trying to find bands like Drive Like Jehu or Fugazi I was stumbling upon moders metalcore or something, generally these bands where every member has black hair and black T-shirt
Excuse me sir, but that is not a guitar. Without a solid grasp of music instrument observation, some details, like the amount of strings, might go over your head. That instrument you are beholding is an electric bass guitar.

HasanJF Don't do Nickelback like that
Hello Anthony, I hope you are in good health. I’m still picking up the sense of humour as the rest of your audience, however I’d like to note that “Preznobutin” who replied to your tweet this morning with a photo of female little pump should be incarcerated for such an act. Thank you Anthony, talk soon

That bass sounded very Melonic. Keep it up, brotha. 😎
5:05 the rules of emo are actually written in black eyeliner.
The only emo rule is that it is emotive hardcore, and punk inspired somewhat.
I thought it was written in the blood from a slit wrist. Have I been doing it wrong all these years?
@@SatoshiKong emo isn't about depression, cutting, or a fashion.
dude is ignorant. he probably thinks xxxtrashion and sc artist are emo bc their "sad"
@@HeyIntegrity Xxxtentacion was not a bad guy, but he definitely didn't make emo music. Emo and rap are two things that don't mic together lol.

You should play despacito on that guitar

Excuse me sir, but that is not a guitar. Without a solid grasp of music instrument observation, some details, like the amount of strings, might go over your head. That instrument you are beholding is an electric bass guitar.
Man I'm glad to see ur still doing the reviews and keeping shit fresh! Keep it up!
Nickelback actually sounds kind of decent on the rare occasion. Drake’s never given me any feelings other than cringe or disdain.
I was about to go on pornhub but then I saw the new vid so here I am.

Surf music isn't thrash metal, it's black metal without distortion.
so many defining surf songs doesnt even feature tremolo picked guitars. apache? sleepwalk? pipeline? rumble? nah
@SchizoidGerbil yea i would argue it is
@@Gunz4Hire187 its a joke calm your titties, although you forgot the mention the other similarity that surf rock and black metal also play typically in phrygian and harmonic minor. Js
mr. dilone so doesn't alot of jazz and that Ravi Shankar Indian citar style shit

The emo revival through rap really made it known with Lil Uzi's "XO Tour Lif3" as the shot heard around the world for emo rap. It became enough to be considered the summer song of 2017.
The only way music can be saved is through the Melon's melodic musical masterpieces on his bass
Have you heard an EP that melon made?
5:32, I like your new haircut Anthony
>singers who don't write their own music are really just actors
so opera singers and classical musicians are actors?
yes but implying that these people aren't musicians or are somehow less than other musicians because they don't write is insane.
strowen also the voice is an instrument and being a good singer is an objective display of musical talent.
@@Strowen no one is saying they are less musicians lol, certainly not Fantano. he is saying singing IS music. acting is an important artistic skill, just as important as writing
In rap where lyrics are a key part of content, yes they matter
Well opera singers are are pretty much doing both.
I just want to thank you for always doing the question/hot take in the thumbnail first
Loving that funky music intro. Reachin for that ten minute mark! LOVE IT! !!!! !!!! ! best teeth in the game
Im still upset Anthony sits during his videos.
I always thought he stood up :(
Id be tired af if I had to stand there all day, doing retakes and shit.
