Samuel L. Jackson made this a legendary scene in film. He does most of the talking and really sets the stage for what's about to happen. But his performance also over shadows the performance of Frank Whaley (Brett). Brett does an amazing job of portraying a character that looks like he knows he's about to die. The look of hopelessness at 1:54. The nervous swallowing at 2:05. He's fucked and he knows it. He's just trying to buy time or think of anything he can to get himself out of the shit that he's in. Great acting by Frank Whaley also. It helps to make the scene what it is. Legendary. But Samuel L. Jackson owns this shit!

Japan and Spain make amazing horror films, India makes tons of dumb action films, there are good films from other countries, you just don't often hear of them.
This is one of the best intimidation scenes in Hollywood history. Jules and Vincent invade their space and eat their food,and generally terrorize them, all without uttering a single threat.
Which explains why a member of their crew was hiding throughout this scene. In 99 times out of 100 he'd kill them and that would have been *that* but a "miracle" (?) happened and Jules acknowledged it... Vincent didn't and look what happened to him when facing Butch... This intimidation had a rather obvious explanation. If Jules and Vincent had just stormed in an shot up the place they risked not learning *who* had the briefcase and *where* it was. It's not like they had all the time in the world and the police wouldn't arrive at the place soon enough. They know that Brett and his crew knows that they are in a difficult position and that either Brett or somebody of his men will reveal where the briefcase is to try and save their behind. This in turn makes Jules' and Vincents' work a whole lot easier. Had Brett and his crew been more tough they wouldn't have played along with Jules' charade and told him they won't tell him a thing. In addition they wouldn't have been caught with their pants down in the first place. Jules and Vincent are seasoned pros in their business and obviously know the intimidation game quite well. Brett even tries to apologize his "misstep" knowing he has no cards left to play, but to no avail. Great scene from a time Tarantino didn't go on tiresome allegories and pointless expositions in the extreme.
My favorite thing about this scene is how the film cuts back to Jules at 3:27, and he’s still furiously staring at Marvin just like we last saw him at 3:15. Brilliant editing, tremendously adds to the tension.
I just realized that when Jules yelled at Marvin, he became afraid of speaking out of turn. When Vincent asked him later about the divine intervention, he didn't want to start conversing and angering Jules so he got accidentally shot.

The writing here is superb. Despite the comical nature of the scene and delivery, the tension is at a maximum. A beautiful blend of tension and confort. Then the scene escalates in tone to a more aggressive and brutal delivery until it culminates in the shooting. Master level writing
I like how, when jules entered the room, the camera held there to show the door closing, as if to show that they're fate is sealed and out of their hands.
3:10 Marvin’s silence & stare is the most underrated moment of this entire movie. I wouldn’t “even have an opinion” later on in the car after being mowed down like that either
The acting is one thing, but the composition of the dialog and the pacing of the scene is really something else. It's amazing how well they wrote this scene to give such depth to what length Julius goes to screw with these guys and get in their heads throughout this entire scene, even though they probably already knew well in advance they were all going to die.
My Sergeant loves to this back in basic. He is normally the calm and silent type but the moment someone fucks up big time, he turns into the most scariest devil you'll ever see in your life.

Actually in California theirs a few Big Kahunas with signs saying "burger featured in pulp fiction" I only know this since a few weeks ago I went their not knowing it was a few minutes from my home and I will say it is one of the best burger places in San Diego.
This is the perfect movie for a morning hangover. It has nice daytime scenes, the breakfast they eat at the diner, and this scene with the burger. Also a lot of talking so if youre recovering from a hangover you can listen with eyes closed.

The acting is one thing, but the composition of the dialog and the pacing of the scene is really something else. It's amazing how well they wrote this scene to give such depth to what length Julius goes to screw with these guys and get in their heads throughout this entire scene, even though they probably already knew well in advance they were all going to die.

This is the perfect movie for a morning hangover. It has nice daytime scenes, the breakfast they eat at the diner, and this scene with the burger. Also a lot of talking so if youre recovering from a hangover you can listen with eyes closed.

I mean there isn't one line in this whole scene which isn't exciting. Every delivery has something in it to cherish. ""You, flock of seagulls". "No, it's the one by your kn..knees".. "check out the big brains on brett"... "We happy?.. Yeah we happy". Even the trivial line when SLJ says "what's in this" pointing to sprite is just fantastic. This whole scene is an epitome of prodigious acting.
