It took me on tour with The Strokes back in 2002 long-wave put me on their guest list for 3 shows. I was underage drinking and hanging out with The Strokes and harmar Superstar
Finally stumbled on this last night. I didn't realise how much I needed to hear all those melancholy songs again. I'd played these songs to death in the past & not really looked for anything new for a while. Last night I was looking for the KEXP sessions. Just fancied listening to them again & then this popped up on the RUclips suggestions. Wasn't sure what to expect as most live footage I've found in the past was variable. This sounds (and looks) just awesome :-)
Wow beer out & ended up watching the whole set twice! At last able to witness the interplay between Steve & Shannon and the, at times, relentless bass & drums.
Good to hear the new songs are up to standard ;-)
Just liked your FB page so I'll be aware of any UK tours - just maybe sometime after this crisis.

Oh my freaken Gawd. If I heard Daysleeper Live I'd feel like a Taylor Swift Fan. That level of melancholy and feel. In 04 when my Best Friend got killed, Longwave got me through some rough time and it makes me go back to when times were innocent and fun. Everywhere you turn and wake me when it's over and There's a fire.

30:45 This version of 'Life of the Party' is very pretty . . . sounds like something The National might write and sing.
The National and Longwave both performed regularly at Luna Lounge in NYC before either band had a recording contract.
@@robbrown4621 Nice! I didn't know that. I thought my comparison was a bit of a stretch but this makes me feel better.
@@ameerhamid89 The National, Longwave, The Strokes, Interpol, stellastarr*, and Elliott Smith all performed free shows at Luna Lounge on a regular basis around the same time back in 1999-2002. Also, Jody Porter (Fountains Of Wayne), Clem Burke (Blondie), Lisa Loeb, and other musicians played in side projects there.
@@robbrown4621 I recall hearing about the connection with the Strokes and Interpol. I remember seeing videos of Steve playing in Albert Hammond Jr's band when Albert's first two solo albums came out, although that was much later than the era you mentioned.
