  • This is Part 9 of the COMPLETE 911 engine assembly series that shows you how to put the bank 2 pistons into the case and attach them to their respective rods!     I like the fact that you are doing this with the cylinders "inverted" making it more likely for loose items to fall out of the engine rather than in.

    Also I have an idea to avoid missing the first clip on each piston - put all of them in (cyl4, 5 & 6) before you move on to installing cyl4.

    You guys are full of optimism and that helps tremendously. I cannot believe the Porsche factory would do something like that to assemble these engines (especially before the advent of cameras). I still believe that installing the pistons on the rods before inserting Block #2, may be a better solution. However, it would require many more people to help with the insertion of the three pistons at the same time.
    You are doing a fantastic job and I cannot wait to see this engine start turning on its own.

      I cannot see a way where we could properly and accurately torque the connecting rod bolts onto the crank. Once you have the right tools and some practice it is not that hard to do the clips.

      +peter payne both of the ones we had were. Mine is in the link in the description. Pistons aren’t all the same I assume so you MAY need to sand it down like we did. Thanks for watching! 🍻
